Keep or toss?

I bought this 6 months ago. It can damaged during shipping. I’ve kept it separated from my others during this time. It has been in a sunny west facing window (same as my others, just another room). It has not has any significant growth. It’s in my African violet mix in a self watering pot (exact same setup as my others). My others have been blooming and lots of new growth, yet this one just sits there. I’ve recently moved all my other plants inside and am trying to make room as well as make things easier on myself. I moved my others on to a dedicated shelf with their own grow lights. I’d like to move this one to be with the others. My others are normal color variations, this one is a VAT Star Race and did have some variegated leaves that were damaged and removed when it arrived. The two leaves that are damaged in the pics I originally left on since it had so few. Two of the leaves have white spots, but not like the variegated leaves it had.

Name ideas for kitten I found this morning

Found this guy by my bird feeders this morning. Super sweet, cuddly and purrs non stop! Wasn’t planning on getting a cat, but quick trip to the store and we have the essentials, now need a name! My previous cats were H. P. Lovecat (answered to Ben, not really sure how that happened!), Muse, and Richard (who was kinda a Dick). Not looking for popular names.

Marks on leaf

I have several African violets, housed mainly in two groups in separate rooms. I have one plant in each room that will get these marks in their oldest leaves from time to time. Not all the time and only one or two leaves. They are otherwise healthy, bloom regularly, and new central growth. I religiously check for pests on a weekly basis with a magnifying glass and flashlight and have never found any evidence of a problem.

Health questions

One of the two breeds my family primarily owned while growing up was Min. Schnauzers, the other was Scottie’s. There were a few other breeds and mixes here and there, but everyone had one or both at any given time.

My immediate family growing up had Scotties and I have as an adult owned them as well. I’m am considering getting a Min Schnauzer in a year or two (I’m on a waiting list for a Scottie and would wait until that puppy is at least a year old before adding another dog).

When mentioning this to my vet, he warned me of the schnauzer trifecta- pancreatitis, bladder stones and diabetes. He said it’s pretty much a given ever schnauzer he sees ends up with at least two. I do remember my grandparent’s dog having diabetes as a kid and an aunt’s dog having bladder stones. But overall, I don’t remember them being unhealthy as a kid.

I am assuming that diet plays a huge part. I have for probably close to thirty years now, fed ProPlan. I don’t really treat heavily or allow people food. My dogs have all lived long healthier lives (I have lost both Rottweilers and GSD to cancer as young seniors, but overall most have lived well into their teens).

I do get insurance for my pets, so I’m not too worried, but I would like to know what steps any owners have taken to decrease the risk of these medical issues. I want the best quality of life for my future dogs. Any advice is appreciated!
