Sparks and overheating bar

Chain was slipping off the bar without me noticing. When sparks started to fly I stopped, but it was a bit late and the bar seems to have got a little overheated. You can see some oxidization on the metal. Replace it?
Dunno why I can’t post a pic in this sub.

Bar & Chain in Rain

Had a mishap and got pinched. Had to pull the saw body off the bar and chain and leave them in the rain a couple days due to unforeseen circumstances. When I get them out, how best to clean, de-rust and re-lube? I read about soaking them in diesel, but I don’t have any. WD40? Gas? I heard that’s too corrosive. Thanks for advice.

Been Beaten by the Bean

Same brand of coffee (ubiquitous, fail-safe Lavazza) just cleaned the Rocky grinder, the decaf requires just a gentle puck polish for a perfect, even shot. The regular has me beat. Either hardly pressing, or pushing the tamper like squeezing a lemon! It’s channeling and sputtering everywhere. I could go down a couple clicks but I never expected to have to change a grind once the Silvia was happy with it.

Lied on application age range

Creative field, AI focused company which I’ve got depth in on the content gen and marketing side. I’m 61, full head of dark hair (dunno how), I look 50, I selected the drop down of 39-49. My playlists and follows are millennial-genX, my energy and demeanor does not correlate with my age. Honest, it ticked me off.

Salt Level in Brine Tank?

Internet says salt above the water line. I’d always done this. Our tech says salt below water line, so you can better monitor your salt and water levels and clarity. This is a 22 yr old Enpress 1040 system which I believe fills the brine at the end of the regen cycle? If that matters. Thx!

Condensate off Ext wall. Line leak?

Original homeowner, 24 year-old home. Central air. This has never happened until now. Some backstory/clues: we were told two years ago there was a slow leak in the refrigerant when we replaced with R-32. Finding the leak proved negative, it’s not at any of the accessible joints. It’s likely somewhere behind drywall.

A few weeks ago was part of another issue, our tech took a look and we were a little under pressure. In topping off, he over pressured and then adjusted. My thought: could that over pressure have exacerbated a pinhole leak that is cooling that area behind the wall and causing condensate? If so, hooray, we found our leak and I can cut out some drywall and hopefully find it.

Possibility 2: he said at 20+ years the insulation around the copper is likely turned to cake and is not absorbing as it should. It’s happening at a highest south facing wall, which gets the hottest so both scenarios have ample possibility. The third floor (where this is happening) also houses the zone 2 air handler.

CenHud & Spectrum Question

If a CenHud crew is dispatched for a downed power line and they see the coax is down too, do they repair both? I have a generator and noticed typically (logically) they are impacted at the same time. And although my house is up, obv the internet is down. So… does Spectrum reimburse CenHud for man hours? Just curious.

How bad are these shingles?

I believe they were 15 yr rated and it has been 22 years. What kind of longevity can I expect? If there are no leaks and they hold I need to get more years out of this.

Upscale/Upsize Recs

I have three models in Weavy for upscaling (ESRGAN, Topaz, Bria) and do a predictable job of applying contrast and blending frames. So so. Not overly impressed. What I need is a model to upscale and resize archival 1280 x 962 to full 1080. I know this also requires generative fill horizontally. Recs and experience with this?

Sure I can resize and premiere, but it requires pushing in too far and I know I could apply generative fill in another model but looking for a one stop approach.

Homeless in NYC

I have a friend likely to be homeless shortly. They have next to zero friends and family for support. They are retirement aged, white male, no college degree, spent their life in the art world supported by their spouse. Spouse has passed, there is no savings. They have few hirable skills and no references. After the grace period of couch surfing, what awaits them? What resources are there for job searches and housing? I know there is no “typical” homeless anymore, but this one’s really a-typical: no drugs, alcohol or smoking, perfect health, just no experience doing anything. City jobs? Bussing tables? Cell phone store? Is their age a red flag or do employers not really care once it’s explained?

Been rabbit holing, need a reset with a fresh thread. I’d like to do an electric drop screen in a living room with LOTS of light, granted we’d be viewing in evenings/after dark. The span from projector to screen is 13ft, screen would be 9ft. I can do a short throw or, mount the projector to the ceiling or wall. Can this be done for 3k and any recs?

The leather on this chair arm looks dry and cracked where it gets most wear. I applied Bickmore’s BickLP heavy duty conditioner and I think this was the wrong choice. I feel I should’ve spent more time cleaning any oils from the old leather before applying this. It almost looks a little worse after the application – like I just coded everything and didn’t do any restoring. Would some kind of cleaner with a soft brush be the way to go before applying a conditioner? Would love some help. The first photo is a part of the leather that looks quite good. The second photo is where it’s compromised.
