My sister is having a double mastectomy + reconstruction, and I am doing food prep for her. I bought some airtight tupperware, but it's extremely difficult for me to open and so the wrong option for her. Do y'all know of any glass food prep containers that would be easier for her to open?
I recently saw a comment here about doubling up on the sweetscent packs, so I gave it a try. I can definitely tell a difference! It got my yard from 80% mosquito free to about 95%.
I am looking for a tumbling compost bin that I can easily move around. Home depot has a wheeled one for $199.... but it looks like many dual chamber tumblers can be purchased for $50-75. Is it difficult to move tumbler bins? I don't anticipate moving it every day LOL but we are doing work in the back so I expect I may have to move it a few times this year.
I have their CO2 traps, but I'm considering adding these, too. Anyone had luck with them?

I've got a small bed (2' deep, 6' long) that gets morning sun. I'm looking for something columnar in shape, or at least is not super bushy on the bottom because I've already got a bunch of heuchera there. I'd like something that blooms late in the season ideally.

I am upgrading some kitchen appliances in my 1910 home. I am considering a steam oven, but I wonder about the risk of plumbing it in.... like, sure, it would be nice to have a plumbed stream oven, but I certainly don't need it, and is it worth the potential for causing an issue? I suppose the answer is "it depends." Wondering if anyone has thoughts on this.
I'm psyched about making huge progress removing vinca, English ivy, liriope, and wisteria from a big area of my front yard. Still lots more to go in other parts of my property, but feels awesome to have made a big dent.
I installed solar + battery in December. I'm seeing HVAC sucking up the power. Is it wise to use TOU during colder/hotter months when you're more likely to be using hvac? Or maybe during the colder months? It seems like AC is mostly used between the hours of noon and 1am, usually we're not running AC between 1am and noon because it's not hot at that time. But in the wintertime we do run heat overnight. So maybe TOU is most important during months when we're using heat overnight? When do you switch yours, if ever?

We found this 1 1/2 inch hatchling in my father in law's backyard. There were also multiple areas where grass had been dug up, and a large hole. Was this little guy born last year, and is the dug-up grass an indication that the mother is working on a nest now? Google tells me mating occurs starting in april and they incubate for 3 months, so it's not likely that he just hatched recently, is it?

I love plants, but I'm not very good at selecting and designing an attractive bed. I'm working on some small beds near the street, and I'd like to make them aesthetically appealing for the neighborhood. I find garden plans helpful for providing ideas of what to pair together, but they're usually using non-natives. Other than this excellent book Gardening with Native Plants in the South, I'm not sure where else to turn. The scenario in this photo is type of thing I'm looking for --- "pair 3 foxgloves with a few of this and a couple of those plus ferns for foliage" kind of thing
I have a 20' redbud. There is an 8' gap between the trunk and the nearby hedge. Can we plant any trees or shrubs in that 8' gap without hurting the redbud? The goal is privacy screening from the neighbors
