If consoles double that (generous) and profit margin is 50% before payroll (generous)…

Best dash cam for 2026 Camry?

Looking for a front and rear camera for daily driving. Seeing more and more absolute maniac drivers in my area and feel I need the extra protection. Has anyone set up a dash cam in their 2026 model yet? Looking for recommendations. Thank you in advance for your help!

Excel saved my job

Just wanted to post this to encourage people to improve their Excel skills every day. I was the only employee not laid off out of 10 people because I knew how to use Excel. My employer told me that my workbooks were too engrained into our operations and I was the only one who knew how to maintain them. I never thought Excel would still be so valuable today. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I wasn’t killed (this time)

I posted a couple weeks ago about tackling this windblown tree (barber chair). I just wanted to follow up and let everyone know I survived, and the tree is now lying in pieces in my buddy’s yard.

In the original thread, I explained that I never dealt with this situation before. I received more advice than I expected, and I appreciate everyone who took the time to provide input. This community is one of the best on Reddit!

This was the most dangerous situation I have ever dealt with, so I took extreme caution. It took me two full days to buck this tree on my own. At times, I just stood there looking at the tree for 10-15 min thinking about my next cut.

There were a ton of supporting branches under tension holding up the trunk. Whenever I wasn’t sure which way the trunk would move, I just used my 12’ pole saw to make the cut while standing at a safe distance. Half the time, I was wrong about where the compression/tension forces were. So, I definitely gained a lot of practical knowledge from this.

If anyone else were to attempt something like this without a professional, my advice would be to take it extremely slow. Always be standing in a safe spot. Pay attention to your body positioning. Step back and think about every cut before you make it. Get all the tools and PPE you need to do the job safely. If you’re losing focus, just take a break, and if you don’t feel safe, call a pro.

Wasps aren’t horrible and mean (but don’t try this)

I’m experienced with wasps. Working for a utility company outside, I find a nest in every other enclosure I open during the summer. I’ve had hundreds of interactions with them and was only stung once when I put my hand down on one. Wasps are good hunters of garden pests, and they are good pollinators. If you grow vegetables, or have flowers, they are good to keep around. If you spot a nest on your property and you can keep your distance, I suggest letting them live.

Planning to tackle this tomorrow

I’ve only felled and bucked about 10 or so trees this size on my own property. This one is for a friend. I was planning to start at the top of the crown and work my way down the trunk, staying on the high side of the slope or clear on the top end of the trunk as I go. I have a hand winch cable that I typically use to guide a tree when felling. Should I use that winch here to ensure the trunk doesn’t roll uphill under tension? This is my first tree that is wind split like this, and I understand there is immense tension in those remaining fibers. I don’t want to go near the split area until I have the trunk cut down as much as possible. Any advice is appreciated.

Start anywhere you like

Long story short, I have two toddlers. We only have 1 tv and I convinced my wife to get a 77” LG. Now I am ashamed of what I have done. Have I ruined the house more than the kids? I’m here for the abuse.
