So there's this sport called Chess Boxing. The rules are exactly what they sound like — you play a round of chess, then someone punches you in the face, then you play chess again. Repeat until someone gets checkmated or knocked out. Whichever comes first.

We stumbled across this while building our sports simulation game and immediately lost our minds. Then put it in the game.

Here's a scene from it 👇

And if you're on Android, you can try it on the Store: Sport Star: Idle Dream Team

We're a small indie team and this is our very first project. We've been building a sport simulation game with idle mechanics and tournaments progression. And honestly, we've gone through quite a few overhauls trying to get it right.

We're about 90% done, and one thing we want to be upfront about: no AI-generated content in the game.

This latest version feels like the one we're most proud of, but we'd love to hear what real players think before we get too comfortable.

If you have a few minutes and an Android device, we'd really appreciate you giving it a try:

Sport Star: Idle Dream Team

Any feedback — good, bad, brutal — is welcome. Thanks for being such a great community 🙌

Hey everyone,

I realized my previous post might have confused some people, so I’m sharing a new video that better reflects the actual gameplay loop.

We’re working on Idle Sport Star Tycoon, a sports simulation / idle tycoon game currently available on Google Play (Android) — we’re planning to bring it to iOS in the future.

Thanks a lot to everyone who checked out the last post — really appreciate it 🙏

What the game is about

This isn’t just about watching matches — the core gameplay is management:

Recruit athletes with different potential

Assign them to the right sports (running, weightlifting, archery, fencing, etc.)

Send them to compete and earn rewardsexpands

Use those resources to upgrade,

What you’re seeing in the video

The match simulation (what happens when athletes compete)

Part of the progression loop in action

A broader look at how the game flows overall

A bit of context

We’re still actively improving the game day by day. Over the past 2 years, we’ve actually reworked the core gameplay 3 times, trying to build something that feels truly special.

There are still things that aren’t quite where we want them to be yet — especially in terms of design and UI — and that’s exactly why we’re here. We’d really love to hear your honest impressions.

The video is a bit long, but it should give a clearer picture of the full experience.

AI disclosure

No generative AI was used in creating this video.

What I’m looking for

First impressions of the core loop

Does it feel like a tycoon game to you?

Anything confusing, off, or worth improving?

Thanks again for taking the time to check it out — any feedback really means a lot to us 🙏

Hey,

I’ve been working on a small indie game called Idle Sport Star Tycoon. This is what the running part looks like right now — still a work in progress. What do you think? 👀

AI Disclosure: We aim to avoid using generative AI in our game. Currently, a few placeholder character avatars (art/visuals) use AI-generated images to fill gaps in Gaunlet Mode, and these will be replaced with original assets in the near future. No generative AI was used in other aspects of the game or in this post.
