Limited on daily Redbull intake

So we all know about the liquor limit on cruises, but I had no idea they could cut you off from Red Bulls lol Just got off Icon of the Seas. On the second to last night, a friend and I went a little too hard and decided to stay up and pull an all nighter. So by the time we got to the last day of the cruise, we were absolutely wrecked.

We were hanging out in the casino that morning/afternoon trying to survive, and my friend ended up having 7 Red Bulls back to back. Around 4pm, the bartender told him he was cut off for the rest of the night. We thought it was kinda funny and assumed maybe it was just that bartender, so after dinner he went to another bar and tried to order another one. They told him he was cut off too 😂 Has anyone else had this happen? Is there actually a limit on Red Bulls/energy drinks on Royal Caribbean, or were they just looking out for my idiot friend?

My valve choice suddenly mattered in a way I never expected

I’m 34, and two years ago this month I had an aortic valve replacement with an Inspiris Resilia valve. At the time, it took me quite a while to decide which option was best for me. I ultimately chose the tissue valve, and while I was comfortable with the decision, I obviously had no idea what kinds of situations might come up years down the road.

Two weeks ago, while on a cruise in Canada with my wife I wrecked a motorcycle and ended up with a pretty nasty concussion. Thankfully, I was able to walk away from the accident and was even able to ride the bike back to the rental place. Like a dummy, I didn’t seek medical attention and just took some ibuprofen for the headache and went about my business.

Today I had my yearly cardiology appointment and mentioned the accident to my cardiologist. She reminded me that if I had chosen a mechanical valve, the blood thinners I would have been taking could have made a head injury like that much more dangerous, with a significantly increased risk of serious bleeding.

Obviously, there’s no way to know exactly what would have happened, but hearing that really made me stop and think about the decision I made two years ago.

I’m incredibly grateful that my care team took the time to help me choose the option that made the most sense for me and my lifestyle. At the time, the decision felt huge and honestly pretty daunting. It’s pretty crazy to realize that a decision I made two years ago may have had an impact on a completely unrelated situation I never could have predicted.

Just another reminder that sometimes you don’t realize the ripple effects of a decision until much later. I’m very grateful to be here and very grateful for the people who helped me get here.

I may have gone a little overboard with the cabin upgrade… Grand Suite 8012 on Vision

Alright, I’m going to shamelessly show off a little…

I’ve stayed in quite a few different Royal Caribbean cabins, but this one deserves a photo dump. For an older ship, this suite is HUGE compared to a standard balcony cabin.
Separate bedroom, massive living area, tons of storage, a bathroom that actually has some room to move around, and the balcony… yeah, the balcony is ridiculous.
I took a ton of pictures because I know there aren’t nearly as many detailed photos of the older Vision class suites floating around.

So here’s your unofficial Grand Suite 8012 tour. Scroll through all the photos because there’s a LOT to see.
Honestly, I could get used to this.
And yes, I’m absolutely going to enjoy every minute of this room.

Travel trailer negotiation gone wrong

I didn’t see this until today when cleaning out old market place Messages. I just don’t understand where this went wrong he didn’t like my price never offered to Mest up then lost it when I sold the trailer. It was a cheap shitty hunting trailer nothing fancy and sold in 2 days. I tried to politely turn him down and yet still got berated. Wild times

Keeping my mouth shut to protect my parents' retirement, but hurting right before Father’s Day

Entire family did tests back in 2018, everyone but my granddad and his brothers on my dad's side (I think due to WWII concerns from Germany). Thought it was neat, didn’t pay a lot of attention to it, just thought it was fun to see.

8 years later, I’m working on the house and I get an email that I have a new match, a half sister. My parents have been married for 43 years, together nearly 50, so I shouldn’t have a half sister. So I log in and notice not only do I have a half sister, but something I didn’t notice before is my brother and his kids are all listed as a half brother and half niece/half nephews. I just sat there and stared at my phone for 5 minutes thinking about what I’m looking at, coming to the obvious realization that the dad I’ve known my entire life isn’t actually biologically related to me.

I messaged my brother, who I think thought I was making a joke at first, but he seemed to get it after a bit.
This shouldn’t bother me as much as it does. I raise 4 wonderful stepkids that aren’t biologically mine right now, so if anyone should understand that blood doesn’t make family, it’s me. But I’ve spent the last 3 nights staying up all night researching a part of my heritage I didn’t know I had, all while feeling a hole in my stomach. I found two men, brothers, who might be my biological dad, but FB stalking only takes you so far, so I hit a dead end. The girl who is my half sister has a different last name from our possible father, and is 13 years younger than myself. It’s also possible she’s in a similar situation, or my bio dad just liked to sleep with married women who happen to look like my mom lol

What’s worse about this is my parents are on the verge of retirement. The last thing I want to do is cause a rift in their relationship or ours, and blow our family apart. Me and my dad are super close as am I with my mom so I’m 99% sure my dad is unaware of this situation, and I’m 90% sure my mom is also unaware. I know they've had some rocky parts in their marriage in the past, and I’m assuming I’m a result of one of those situations. But it was hurtful knowing I had to go to my parents house this morning to have breakfast with them for Father’s Day with this eating away at me. I’m normally an incredibly logical person and am usually very good at separating emotions from decisions and discussions, however, this feels like an unsustainable situation and I know I’m just going to end up choking it down. Bringing this up is only going to spread the pain outward and will cause ripples I couldn’t imagine. So for now, I don’t plan to reach out to any 'new' family.

Edit for context: On Ancestry, my brother is listed explicitly listed under my Mother's side. I share 1,840 cM with my brother, 1,711 cM with my half sister, and 1,032 cM with my brother's kids, which confirms the half sibling and half niece/nephew relationships.
