Blades of Fire might be the game you didn't know you wanted

I sure as hell didn't know I wanted it until I played the demo.

It's a fantasy action-adventure game made by ex-Blade of Darkness devs. And yes, it means that its combat is very satisfying and direction-based. It feels like nothing I've played before, and so do quite a few features.

Not least of them is forging your weapons and accounting for little details like its material, weight, balance and length which all affect how they handle. Honestly it's difficulty to descriibe until you try it.

So why try it?

Because it's an original game that dared to do its own thing, and that's worth at least checking out. I'm rambling because it's barely known or discussed, which is a travesty.

  • Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-Z270-Gaming K3;
  • CPU - i7-7700k;
  • CPU cooler Zalman CNPS10X Performa+ with ARCTIC Thermal Pad;
  • RAM - 16GB (2х8) Samsung 8 GB DDR4 2133 MHz;
  • GPU - Asus GeForce RTX 3060 Ti ROG Strix Gaming OC V2 LHR 8GB;
  • Case - Cooler Master N300 with two ARCTIC F12 PWM Rev.2 fans;
  • TPM 2.0 encryption Security Module (to enable Secureboot needed for some online games);
  • PSU - Corsair RM650x 650W 80+ Gold (though I'd like to carry it over to my new system, leaving it in will probably make for an easier sell).

I'm in Ukraine if that matters, but I can adjust and approximate in relation to US/EU prices.

Much appreciated!

Spent a while researching different versions of this GPU, aiming for the lowest possible budget versions, as I was initially looking at a 5060ti 16gb.

My current pick is Palit RTX 5070 Infinity 3 OC at around $700 in my local currency.
(I was looking at the same model of 5060ti which over $100 cheaper).

I've had a positive experience with Palit - had their GTX 1080 Super Jetstream for over 8 years, it served me flawlessly and ran cool. But from what I know the Infinity model of 5070 is one of the hotter ones - which is reasonable given the price.

Question is, how bad is the hearing issue and will it affect the longevity of the GPU? Should I not worry about it if there's good airflow in the case, or look for a slightly more expensive model with better cooling?

I can do $750 at most as I'm overbudget as-is, and not sure which brand to look at. There's an option for Zotac 5070 Solid OC but it comes from a store I haven't tried yet and has a 1 year warranty instead of the 2 years on Palit.

Any advice appreciated!

Looking into upgrading my PC, the painful RAM price issue is always there. But I have DDR4 in my current system, which I can't use on a new motherboard, so new DDR5 it is.

Naturally I'm aiming for 32GB, but I can only afford 16 right now (way overbudget on the whole build as-is). And with more expenses on the horizon, I likely won't get another 16 until 2027.

I'm facing the following options:

  1. Get one 16GB stick now, get another one next year. So it's 8-12 months on a single active RAM slot.
  2. Get 2x8GB now, get 2 more next year. End up with 4x8GB config.

Which one do you think is better?
I understand that a two-stick config is optimal, and a one-stick is not very good. No idea about 4.

Much appreciated!
