People who use google AI summary as “proof”

I see this ALL THE TIME on social media posts now. The person in the video will make a claim and then put a screenshot of the AI summary as if that’s supposed to be real evidence. Like what?? You couldn’t even click on the first website?

ALSO, another thing: people who just use the AI summary to answer their question and completely trust it without thinking twice. I understand if you want to use the AI, but it’d also be nice if you checked one of the websites that show up, or the AI’s sources, to make sure the answer you’re getting is actually true. So much of the AI’s “sources” come from people’s subjective experience/opinions from Reddit discussions.

DAE feel like life is so much effort for nothing?

To preface, I do NOT have mental illness, and I am NOT sad, suicidal, or numb. I don’t often feel down and have talked with therapists who have said it is unlikely I have anything diagnosable. Just wanna say this so people don’t say “you have depression, anhedonia, or XYZ” by default, and also so that my post doesn’t get taken down 😭. Anyways

I have no desire to put effort into anything. I hate that I have to put effort into an existence that I never even asked for in the first place.

I recently graduated university, finishing a degree that I don’t even care for. I didn’t have any interest when it came to any subject in school. I never knew (and still don’t know) what to do with my life. Over the past year, I’ve been having what seems like the exact same conversation over and over with all my friends and family. They ask me what job i want to work after I graduate or what areas of work I’m interested. Every time I have to go through this conversation, I want to punch myself in the balls for five minutes straight. I don’t understand how the people around me seem to enjoy the grind, or are putting so much effort into things, but I do respect it. I don’t have a dream job, and the idea of any job just sounds miserable to me. Work is so much effort, and then being fake and putting up a persona for interviews and “networking” is so much effort. Socializing has never been easy for me, so interviews and networking are even more effort.

I recently came back from a family trip which was nice, and I really enjoy traveling. While on the trip, I thought to myself that once I get a job, I’ll be able travel more. But to travel, I have to work my ass off, then I get one or two weeks of rest, then I’m back to the grind. Like what is even the point? It’s just temporary fun that fades away.

I’ve mostly been talking about jobs because that’s the main thing on my mind right now, but I also feel that things like exercise, self-help/self-improvement stuff, friendships, and relationships also seem like so much effort.

I know that there are so many good things in life like friends, family, love, hobbies, traveling, etc, but I don’t even care. Life just seems like so much effort and I just don’t care for that. I’m not numb though. I still feel joy from things like some hobbies, videos, and games. So often I just wish I was never born in the first place so that I wouldn’t have to deal with life at all. Sometimes I’ll cry a bit wondering why I have to be here at all. I’m NOT going to hurt myself or do anything to myself just to be clear

It’s entirely possible, and probably likely, that this is just an issue of laziness and lack of discipline, but I don’t even care to put the effort in to remedy that. At the same time, it feels a bit different from laziness, like there’s also an element of just not caring at all in addition to not wanting to do stuff if that makes sense. I’m kinda just venting here and I don’t even know if I’m making sense but I’m just wondering if anyone can relate

Struggling with germaphobia on vacation

I’m on vacation with my family and am struggling a bit with germaphobia. Since I’m with my parents 24/7 now, I notice every single time they do things that make me feel unclean, such as touching things that aren’t clean (a public door handle, cash, someone else’s device) and then contaminating clean things by touching those things right after. I feel like it makes those clean things dirty and it frustrates me. I know I’m most likely not going to get sick from these types of things but I hate the “unclean” feeling it gives me.

I knew they did stuff like this before, but most of the time I didn’t see it happen, so I could push the discomfort out of my mind and hope that they didn’t contaminate anything. Or, I could clean the things that I thought they did contaminate at home. But I can’t clean everything on vacation because everything is so fast paced and we’re outside all the time.

Also, I don’t like touching my bare skin on things I feel are “dirty” or that a lot of other people touch (such as door knobs, seats, armrests, screens, etc). Usually, I don’t have to worry about this when I wear long clothes during cooler weather. But since it’s super hot where we are and I’m gonna be wearing short sleeves and short pants, I feel like I don’t have that same layer of protection between my bare skin and the outside world.

I know I probably sound crazy and obsessive, and I considered that I may be experiencing contamination ocd or something but I don’t get massively anxious from these things, only frustrated. I’m using hand sanitizer a lot and washing my hands when possible after touching things I feel are “unclean” or “contaminated”. Can someone share any advice or similar experiences?

Please don’t make fun of me 😭 I just want to get some practical advice that I can put into action since I’m already on vacation.

Should I go on this trip just for my parents?

My parents are planning a vacation for this upcoming summer to France. They want me and my sister to go but told me I (23m) don’t have to if I don’t want to. I really do not want to go because:

  1. I find it exhausting being around my family (or even other people) 24/7, and find it so exhausting to be doing stuff 24/7. I also find it exhausting being outside all day. I don’t like travelling at all in general

  2. There are always small issues that arise between me and my dad which lead to the moods being down for parts of the trip

  3. Even when there aren’t issues that go to that extreme, I often am really irritated by things he does or says or the way he acts

My mom was saying that she wanted our family (including me) to go because she’s getting older and is unsure if, in the future, they would be able to handle the long walks/being able to do stuff all day regarding future vacations. Basically she’s saying she us wants to take advantage of her health now. This is literally the only reason that I would go, and I was set on not going until she said this.

Idk if I should go just for the fact that they are still healthy and able to go. I feel like the right answer is to go, but I already can feel myself just getting so burnt out if I go.
