I appreciate that those who act out are easier to spot, however, so many more young people in Edinburgh are just going about their daily lives whilst being decent human beings.

Please post anything positive that you have witnessed a young person do. Let’s talk them up. Take a second out of your day to appreciate the impact that they have on our communities.

Being a teen/young person isn’t an easy phase of life and a little recognition of good deeds can go a long way.

Over a month ago I opted to return my long overdue GPS as they were peeling after only 2 wears. I was frustrated.

Contacted Tome Sachs crew and they were happy to honour the return and also confirmed, in writing, that they would pay for the return shipping from the UK.

To date, they have refunded the price of the shoe.

They have not, however, refunded the shipping and no longer acknowledge or answer my emails. It has been 6 weeks.

I have contacted Nike customer services in the hope that they might have some influence.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

Edit: Don’t know about anyone else who was watching but I was out my seat cheering him on. He absolutely smashed it. I was listening to the Runner’s World podcast months ago where he announced his ambition. He called it and proved himself more than capable.

Someone recently posted asking about the Leonardo factory on Ferry Road - a defence firm with little signage and heavy security.

It got me to thinking about other ‘mysterious’ buildings in Edinburgh that sit in plain sight but their purpose is perhaps less obvious.

I would be interested to hear what others know about these buildings.

I’ll start with McFarlan Smith on Wheatfield Road, Gorgie. They produce medicinal opiate alkaloids (think methadone, heroin etc.) and the building is surrounded by heavy security.

I think it once featured in an Irvine Welsh novel as a plot line whereby Renton etc. attempted to break in and steal the raw goods.

Recently saw a post of a dog using a pee pad in a Gordon Ramsay pizza place. Got me to thinking about dogs in eating places more generally. When and why did it become a ‘thing’?

Unless a service dog, I find it uncomfortable sharing what should be a relatively sanitary space with an animal and tend to avoid such places.

As a parting shot - ‘fur babies’ also appears to be quite a common way of describing the dogs in the eating spaces (on posters etc.). What’s that all about?
