My wife currently works in tech and has wanted to switch industries for some time now.
We are currently 8 weeks pregnant, and once she gives birth and finishes her maternity leave, she is thinking it would be a good time to try something new.
She has always been a creative person who enjoys working with her hands, and she is the type who has tons of arts and crafts in her home office.
Unfortunately, I feel like the corporate world has stifled her ambitions.
All that said, is there anyone out there currently working in a creative position? Are there any opportunities in Fort Lauderdale for this type of work? She’s also open to taking online courses or even pursuing a degree in graphic design.
I think she would like to find something like this Creative Artworker position from Meri Meri (https://merimeri.com/pages/careers#shopify-section-template--18862288830550\_\_9dafe4e0-f28a-40cd-9952-cd8e6a58a178)
Any help is appreciated! I’d love to learn more about the art scene and see if I can help steer my wife in the right direction.
Thanks!
I swear it's getting worse every year. What do you do for relief? Camping out in the Costco freezer, chugging water and Tylenol isn't helping.
Everyday at this 3 way stop in fort lauderdale, N Flagler Drive and NE 12th St, people run these 3 stop signs and it’s so dangerous. There’s an animal shelter with people walking dogs, apartment complexes, and houses, all on this corner with many people, kids, and animals, crossing the street. People run all 3 stop signs like it’s not even there. I nearly get hit every morning walking a dog. And if you give someone who runs it a look they act like you’re the crazy one, or even sometime get aggressive. Is there anything that can be done? I’m not talking one or two cars a day i’m talking nearly every single car throughout the entire day. The speed limit is 30 or less and people run thru the signs much faster than that and it’s at a corner so there’s a blind spot you can only hear the cars coming but not see them. With electric cars you’re lucky if you hear them. It’s such a hazard to residents and the shelter people and animals. What steps can be taken with the city to crack down on this?
Hey everyone! I’m a dental student at NSU College of Dental Medicine in Davie/Ft. Lauderdale, and I’m currently accepting new patients as I work to gain more clinical experience. If cost has been holding you back from getting dental care, our services at my school are offered at a fraction of what you’d pay at private practices—and everything is closely supervised by experienced faculty dentists!
To learn more details or book a private screening, please PM me and Ill be happy to help. I speak both English and Spanish!
My Ub͏er driver got into an accident a few days ago, and now I’m having the hardest time getting in touch with a real person from Uber. The app just keeps redirecting me in circles. I wasn’t driving; I was literally just a passenger, but now I’m dealing with back pain and don’t know what steps I’m supposed to take. Did anyone else have trouble contacting Uber after a crash?

I’m moving to Fort Lauderdale from out of state so completely out of the loop. Looking for 1-2bed rental apartments that are in a safe community and not superrrr run down. I really don’t want to exceed $2,600/month so hopefully that is max.
We’ve looked at Riverland and the Pearl so far. Riverland was nice just a wee bit pricier. Would love to hear where everyone is living or some guidance!
Anyone have reccs for dermatology in the area?
Im in Fort Lauderdale right now for two days, Im 19 Male trying to hangout with someone or a group anyone down?
I am trying to buy a home in Fort Lauderdale and it seems that no one in the City seems to ever answer/respond/return calls or emails.
Hi! I’m trying to coordinate a party for my job for 80-110 people. We need a nice private venue (can be a private area in a restaurant) that would be able to accommodate a band and provide food for 100 guests. Possibly something with a nice view. Does anyone know of any places? Our budget is around $20,000. Please help!!!
Our last venue was on pompano beach at Oceanic at their top floor and we hope to find something similar.
Hey,
I’m in my mid twenties and living around Lauderhill, Plantation, Tamarac, and Sunrise. I’ve been trying to build a consistent weekly routine that mixes a few things I enjoy: 🧘 Yoga something calm, beginner-friendly, or just not super intense. 🎾 Tennis casual play, lessons, or beginner leagues. 🎲 Some kind of relaxed rec / social activity (community centers, pickup sports, etc.)
I’ve already checked out a few places like Plantation Community Center, Frank Veltri Tennis Center, and a couple yoga studios around Davie/Plantation, but I’m still trying to figure out what actually works well long-term and has a good vibe, especially for people in their 20s.
Not really looking for hardcore gym culture or super competitive sports. More just a balanced routine where I can stay active, unwind, and maybe meet some people in a low-pressure setting.
If anyone around here actually does yoga and tennis or has found a good combo of spots that work together, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
So I got rear-ended sitting at a light on Federal Hwy a couple of weeks ago, and what I thought was just soreness has turned into constant neck pain. The other driver’s insurance keeps calling me, trying to get me to settle fast, and it honestly feels sketchy at this point. Has anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area worked with a good car accident lawyer they’d actually reco͏mmend?
Vacationing in Fort Lauderdale first week in June. We will be staying at the Sun Tower hotel and suites. Is there any place nearby there that has great seafood? Is there any shopping nearby?
Thank you so much
I’m a 40yr single male taking a nice vacation to Fort Lauderdale next week. I’m staying at the Conrad resort. Looking for recommendations on nice restaurants to check out in the evening to have a nice meal and drink. Any recommendations?
Nightlife recommendations or things to do?
Thanks!
My job is going to give me a hefty gift card to any place of my choosing so I’d love to splurge on an amazing spa day. I’m looking for an amazing full body massage with the ability to use robust spa amenities before/after the treatment (ideally included with the purchase of the treatment).
What are the best spas in the area that cater to this? I’m also open to options in Miami! Thanks in advance!
Hello 👋
A couple of weeks back, I made a post regarding the best daycares in the area and got some really good responses: https://www.reddit.com/r/fortlauderdale/s/JGLsXBxtbh
Now, thinking more long-term, I am curious about what the school situation is like in Fort Lauderdale. I know that great schools exist in areas like Cooper City, Weston, and Parkland, but these are pretty far from me, as I live in Fort Lauderdale (30+ minutes).
My wife and I feel like we only have private school options around here, like Calvary, PineCrest, and Westminster. I do know about the StepUp scholarship, which is awesome, but I don’t want to depend on it if I am not given it.
So, what are the best elementary, middle, and high school options for students in the area? Preferably, public schooling options. If private schools are the only route, then so be it, but I want to hear from parents in the area.
I’m willing to be flexible, so throw all options my way.
Thanks!
Looking for some decent bars that have good rock & roll bands…
