Any activities to do in the area? Miami? Fort Lauderdale?

I want family attractions that are actually interesting to go to, maybe beaches, or events in the next two weeks? I love wildlife and I remember going to a reptilian show a few years back. Anyone knows anything?

Affordable couch removal

I need to get rid of a leather sofa and loveseat.

Does anyone have recommendations for an affordable junk removal company or someone local who hauls away furniture without charging a fortune?

Appreciate any suggestions

Solo Vacation here at the end of the month. Advice or wanna hang at some point?

In the last few years I've had a bombshell divorce. Lost a parent, house, dog, a very serious relationship post-divorce, best friend. In the midst of all of that, I've had a honeymoon cancelled last minute along with two vacations after that cancelled last minute as well.

So yeah, I need this, and I can't rely on other people so I'm taking my first ever solo trip. I'm a 37M and I work my ass off, but don't have the finances or time off to take a trip to, say, Europe.

I have my reasons for Fort L, so I'm sticking with it and plan on going at the end of this month. July 30-Aug 2nd.

I know this is encroaching on hurricane season so I plan on having insurance on the whole trip. But as a solo guy who just wants to go disappear somewhere and relax, with some laid back and inexpensive fun thrown in, what advice do you have for me? I think one of those days/nights I might wanna socialize with someone who's also on vacation, this is so out of my comfort zone but I want to come home from the experience feeling like I grew from it.

I'm booking this to be as simple as possible with an Uber to and from the airport being my only car situation and I wanna stay on the beach, already have a hotel picked out.

Sorry if this isn't allowed.

Cheers and happy America weekend.

Extra Ticket For Quarter Final on Saturday

I have an extra ticket for the quarter final game on Saturday and am looking to make it a sorta blind date. I’m in my early 40s, easy on the eyes, with a pretty great career. You’re college educated, well-read, and older than 30.

Maybe we can meet for coffee or something first for a vibe check?

Edit: ticket is spoken for. Met a nice woman for coffee and we’re gonna have date #2 @ the quarter final. Thanks for the responses….surprisingly (and refreshingly), the women were all nice. Men shooting your shot: Jesus Christ you have some work to do

Selling 6 Tickets to The Odyssey for 7/23 at 6:30 PM

Had to cancel for an earlier time but they wouldn’t refund it.

I understand they are still for sale for that time but I would be willing to discount it a bit for someone who wants that time.

Las Olas and Seabreeze all taped off

Word on the rumor is someone was shot in the leg and ran into The Elbo Room. No traffic northbound after the Maren Hotel on Seabreeze. Traffic is a nightmare

anyone else tired of driving to miami for good food

dont get me wrong i love fort lauderdale. but every time i want a really nice dinner i feel like i have to go to miami. and honestly im getting tired of it.

we have some decent spots here but nothing with a michelin star. my gf keeps saying she wants to try one for her birthday. she found Stubborn Seed in miami beach and sent me the link. looks good.

but is it really worth the drive. i hate sitting in traffic on 95. by the time we get there we're already annoyed.

anyone else feel like fort lauderdale deserves a michelin spot. or am i just being lazy about driving.

Central Florida 18-year-old needs 50 units of rare blood for lifesaving transplant: Teen has had a lifelong battle with sickle cell disease

Gigi Felix is 18 years old and lives in Fort Lauderdale.

Snippet:

  • A race against time is underway to save the life of 18-year-old Gigi Felix, who is battling an aggressive form of sickle cell disease.
  • Doctors say she urgently needs 50 units of extremely rare, specially matched blood before they can safely move forward with a bone marrow transplant—her best chance at a cure.
  • “I’m just asking for your help, because I really do need it,” Gigi said.
  • Doctors say the challenge isn’t just finding O-negative blood—it’s finding blood that matches Gigi’s antigen profile, the genetic markers found on red blood cells.
  • Because Gigi has received countless transfusions over her lifetime, her body has developed antibodies, making most donor blood incompatible.
  • Gigi’s required antigen profile is most commonly found in people of African descent.
  • Statistically, doctors say only 1 in 1,000 people of African descent may be a match.
  • “We need the African American and Afro-Caribbean community to step up to help save Gigi’s life,” said Dr. David Crawford, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist.

miami or broward for a nice anniversary dinner

our anniversary is coming up and i wanna do something special. we usually go to places in fort lauderdale or hollywood. solid spots but nothing that really wows anymore.

my wife has been hinting she wants to try a michelin spot. obviously theres none in broward that i know of. so that means driving to miami.

but is it really worth the drive and traffic. part of me wants to just stay local and avoid the headache. another part thinks its our anniversary and we should do something special.

anyone done the drive for a special occasion. how bad is it really.

severely sunburned guy near Las Olas beach

I was walking down Beach to go to CVS and saw a white guy who was severely sunburned -- like needs medical attention. He seemed dazed / out of it, a bit unkempt, possibly homeless. Walking with his arms bent awkwardly. I tried to stop and talk to him, but he just kind of mumbled some things and walked away. I called non-emergency and they seemed completely disinterested. I don't know if they ever sent anyone.

I hope he was able to get the help that he needed. I have never seen a sunburn that severe before.

Best Places to find Chess players

Hey everyone! I’ve been recently getting into chess and would like to find like-minded people or even a club. Does anyone know a club or venue that hosts a chess meet? Thank you!

Anyone know what happened??

Obviously BSO is searching for someone. Does anyone know what happened? This was well after the pedestrian accident with Brightline so I doubt it’s related. Also BSO had several cars in my neighborhood under the green flight path for about an hour
