What motivates AI companies to automate things humans actually like doing?

I get making automation for things no one wants to do. But what’s the real motivation for making AI that can do things like art? I’m thinking of the FRIDA robot.

I’m sure money is the probably at the root of it. But even from the perspective of scientific curiosity, it seems a bit selfish for this creators to exercise their creativity and ingenuity to build things that will destroy the value of creativity for millions of others.

I thought the point of automation was to free us up to do the things we love, but it if AI does those too…

Best shoes for wading into the ocean.

I have chronic foot injuries on both feet which means I can’t go barefoot anywhere. It’s been 4 years, and I’d love to get out in the ocean with my kids to play with them before they get too old.

Are there any shoes/sandals designed for this? I assume with regular shoes you will just get a bunch sand trapped in them within the first 5 seconds.

How long until the market pushes Chinese brands into the same price ranges as the main flagship brands?

Was just as my local shop. They had x-lab bike. $2100 dollars for full carbon aero frame, deep section carbon wheels, integrated cockpit with no cables and aero bars. The only ding is that the crank was not Shimano like the rest of the group set. But honestly that spec on a flagship brand is easily $4-5k.

The x lab is ridiculously affordable relatively speaking. I got a specialized sl6 with 105 and carbon frame, but not full aero frame, alu shallow rim wheels, non aero bars, exposed cables…for $3200 in 2022.

I’m wondering if this is a sweet spot for buying an affordable, high-performance bike and if I wait 3-5 years I’ll have missed it.

Can I tighten two loose spokes by hand for short term riding?

Out on a camping trip. Noticed I have two loose spokes on the rear of my gravel bike. Wondering if I can hand tighten just to use the bike while I’m here? Spokes are just a little loose.

I am not an intense rider at all. Plan to ride ride a two mile gravel loop once today, and then one more time tomorrow before we leave. So 4 miles total of gravel riding, then take to shop later.

Help understanding how ohm’s law relates to voltage drop when circuit has too much load for the power source

So this is the whole reason why the lights dim in the room when you turn on the space heater. The heater exceeds the capacity of the circuit to deliver enough amps so the voltage drops to keep the power draw the same.

I get this mathematically thinking about P=VI…however I don’t get it in terms of V=IR.

In terms of V=IR, if the current draw increases, doesn’t voltage go up and not down?

Kenmore washer, 90 series 110.26912691 motor running but no spin. Already replaced coupler.

Title says it all. Found broken coupler. Fixed that and it was working again. After about 2 loads it stopped working. Rechecked the coupler. It’s fine.

What is the problem? Clutch?

How to determine if my ED is caused by vascular issues?

I’m at the point where I want to get this checked out.

-It seems to me the most concerning thing about ED is if it’s caused by a vascular problem. But how does a doc determine that? Can they do a scan and check your blood vessels or something?

Can you actually reverse the metabolic dysfunction?

So I know it’s possible to lower one’s A1C. However I am wondering if, when you start having glucose control issues, the only option is management? So yes, you can lower your A1C, but that’s only because you exercise a bunch and cut carbs. But that doesn’t mean the underlying metabolic issue is corrected, you are just managing symptoms. Can I actually improve my body’s response to carbs?

Another way to ask is, can one improve their OGTT score and not just their A1C?

Anyone here who has had symptoms before hitting pre diabetes’s numbers?

Since Feb. I have randomly been having increased hunger pangs, energy highs and lows throughout the days, sleepiness after meals, and some of what I believe is reactive hypoglycemia.

However my numbers are “ok”

A1C: 5.3

Fasting: 85

Fasting insulin: normal

HOMA IR: normal

The only oddity is that I did a DIY OGTT and saw a spike of 170 at the 30 min mark, though it was below 100 after an hour.

I’ve checked with accucheck after various meals and have seen up to 140. After a particularly heavy meal I was sitting at 120 for 3 hours, then dipped to 66.

I’m just wondering if these symptoms are the beginnings of a bad trend in my body’s blood sugar control ?

It’s hard to know what to do. I’m guessing a doctor wouldn’t give me the time of day. My BMI is just below 20, and I exercise, so I’m not really comfortable cutting a carbs.
