Partial clover lawn with a dog

I really like clover lawns, but i dont think its a good idea for me due to the fact i have a big dog. Therefore I'm considering mixing some clover seed into regular seed once the heatwave is over.

Has anyone done this? and how do you think it would hold up with trampling paws?

Morning crate whining

Anyone got any tips to stop my dog whining in her crate in the mornings?

She gets up at 6am on the dot, and will whine and whimper in her crate until she is let out or someone is sat in the room with her.

It’s not super loud and we’re grateful that she no longer barks but we would prefer if she just waited to he let out.

We do not let her out while she is actively whining and we always wait for silence but we don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

Edit: she’s 13 months old. We don’t want to keep her in there all morning, this is for like 15 or so minutes so we can get our selves ready before we start her day and chaos ensues

Adolescent dog self settling ability has regressed to zero

My 13 month old viszla x staffy has had some major regression following a pseudo pregnancy. When we got her at 7 months she had no self settling ability and required literally 24/7 occupying and attention. After a lot of hard work we finally got her crate trained and into a place where she would be able to self settle semi-reliably (usually at least 1 self induced nap a day).

Since she had her heat and pseudo pregnancy , she has not chosen to relax at any point over the last few weeks, and is demanding attention constantly (including demand barking and biting pillows etc).

She isn’t overtired as she gets lots of sleep in her crate, it’s just her awake time that’s a nightmare.

She gets lots of walks and enrichment throughout the day.

Has anyone else had a similar experience at this stage of development? She was definitely in adolescence before but now she seems to have achieved a new level.

She’s got her spay next month, do you think this could help?

Are small pet insurance claims worth it?

Im a first time dog owner and this is my first experience with pet insurance. I’m with LV and I’m considering making a few claims for incidents that have happened over the last month but I’m worried about the impact on my renewal cost. Can anyone let me know what the impact of one off claims are?

This is what I would be claiming:
- £175 for toxic ingestion as she bit into an asthma inhaler
- £90 for pseudo pregnancy medication
- £195 for out of hours vet and medication for ingestion of a laundry pod

My dog is 13 months old, getting spayed next month.

(I’m aware that 2 toxic ingestions over a month is a lot. I promise she’s watched very closely, she has had a pseudo pregnancy which has totally changed her behaviour including being incredibly obsessed with stealing and eating things)

Edit: my excess is £75, so presumably the money back would be £235

Alternative to Harringtons Just 6

My dog was doing really well on it and used to love it, but has gone off it since her heat.

Does anyone have any similar reccomendations, i.e. Natural/low ingredients/grain free?

Batteries for ALDI lawnmower

I just picked up an ALDI cordless lawnmower but they didn’t have the battery and charger in stock.

I’ve found the battery online for £15 and the charger for £25.

Anyone know the price in ALDI and if they’re easy to come across? Trying to figure out whether it’s worth looking for one in store.

Pseudo-pregancy advice needed

My girl is 13 months old, and finished her first heat 6 weeks ago.

Her behaviour over the last week has completely changed and honestly its becoming quite difficult to handle so any advice or reassurance would be appreciated.

New behaviours include:

  • Constantly looking frustrated and irritated, like she doesn't know what to do with herself.
  • Being a lot more vocal. Barking, whining, or fake barking at either us or things that she wants. She even had a tantrum the other day and did a weird bark/moan and stormed off into another room lol.
  • Refusing her kibble but eating treats
  • No focus on walks. Suddenly stopping to sniff, or fixating on random people or things, to the point that it is excessive.
  • Off-lead manners down the drain

I could go on but it's like someone replaced our lovely girl with a stroppy teen.

Anyone else had this? Please tell me it gets better soon...

My Viszla x pit/staffy mix 🩵

Approx 50% vizsla , 25% pit, 25% staffy.

Got a bit of negativity on the vizsla sub for posting there so thought I’d come here instead !

Anyone got experience with this mix? My lovely girl is 12 months and a bit of a handful but so sweet.

Shes a rescue and we’ve had her about 5 months.

Switching to Planthood is a game changer

I wasdoing Gousto before but found that the meals gave me the ick after a while and the cooking process was such a chore. I’d genuinely dread it after work despite it not even taking that long.

Made the switch the plant hood and have been super impressed! Meals are genuinely banging… like restaurant quality , and so much simpler to cook.

Anyone had the same experience or can recommend another similar recipe box to try once my deal expires? Grubby seems interesting?
