Question about quality of life after tube removal
For those of you that have had laparoscopic tube removal surgery, how long until you stopped feeling pain? It's been over 2 weeks and sometimes I just sit here in immense pain. I have my follow-up later next week but I don't know if what I'm experiencing is just normal healing pain.
ER misdiagnosed my ectopic that led to the removal of my tube
I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks lmp. This was my first pregnancy and I was super excited. I'd had the copper iud and got it removed almost 2 years ago. Ironically because I had the iud I was extra careful because I was worried about an ectopic pregnancy.
The day after I found out, I went to the ER for one sided cramping and spotting, albeit the cramping was very light. I knew these were signs of an ectopic. I also just had an impending sense of doom. Like I knew something just wasn't right. They did two different ultrasounds and claimed they couldn't see anything but did see a mass near my right ovary that they said was likely just a loop of bowel, which on my discharge paperwork they said it wasn't inherently dangerous. They told me I was fine and to just schedule with an OBGYN. They said only to come in I was bleeding through 2 pads in an hour.
I followed up with my PCP. My HCG levels dropped so my doctor told me I was likely miscarrying and then I got them tested again they had more than doubled. So then she says it could be lab error, but for now you're still pregnant. My doctor got an ultrasound scheduled because she wanted to be sure it wasn't ectopic.
I got this horrible cramping sensation the day before my MIL came to town. I took some Tylenol and laid down. I was still spotting so I figured it was related to that. The pain went away and I was fine. MIL gets into town and we're sitting eating dinner and it happens again. The feeling again passes after like 3 minutes and I'm feeling absolutely fine after that. Because I had the copper iud before, it just felt like a more intense cramp.
I go and get the ultrasound done and the tech is asking questions and I just remember thinking that something seemed off with her questions. She leaves the room and comes back and says we're referring you to the ER, it's ectopic.
So I'm still not thinking my tube has ruptured. I go into the ER and they get us in. They kept asking me about pain levels but I had 0 pain. Finally I asked a nurse if I could have some water while we waited for the doctor. She then asked me if I knew what an ectopic pregnancy was and I was like yes but I'm just getting the shot right, because no one's said anything about my fallopian tube being ruptured. She explains that I'm having surgery and yes my tube is fully ruptured.
The doctor who did my surgery is absolutely fantastic. She really explained things well and was actually a huge comfort to my family and to myself during the process.
Surgery was a success and I'm finally starting to feel like myself, and I still cry when I see a baby but it's not all day. My body is still having some aches and pains but it's considerably less.
