Rant: Olive trees are native and first came from the levant. But I hate how the Greeks or Italians get all the credit or are known for it.

It came from our land and is native to our land.

But when someone thinks of olive oil they think Greek or Italian. Just something that annoys me.

(Also shawarma is for all of us)

Who’s fixing the Electric Vehicles in Lebanon?

With all the hype I’m seeing on electric vehicles I’m wondering who’s doing the repairs in Lebanon? The dealer?

I have a background in electric vehicle repair. I also always wanted to come back to Lebanon and contribute. Maybe teach people a new skill such as EV repair.

But the question is whos doing it right now? I still plan one day to come and bring somthing of value to the people.

Note: speaking out of passion btw not pity before anyone gets the wrong idea.

One of Lebanon’s Greatest Engineers: Hassan Kamel Al-Sabbah

I haven’t seen any postings of him or on Reddit. But I just wanted to talk about him because I find it very motivating to come from the same country as him.

He was born in Nabatieh, Lebanon, and later became an electrical engineer at General Electric in the United States. he has earned over 40 U.S. patents and made important contributions to electrical engineering.

To get technical, in the early 1900s electrical rectifiers were really unstable and weak to use in an industrial setting. His work helped move AC/DC conversion beyond small experimental systems and toward the high power industrial applications that modern factories and electrical infrastructure depend on. He was one of the engineers whose work helped lay the foundation of modern systems today.

He had dreams of turning the desert to electrical power hub. He was pioneering and researching solar energy before it was even worth looking at. Barely anyone knew about it in the early 1900s. He also had several patents in early television technology.

Unfortunately he passed away pretty young at 40 due to a car accident. Some have conspiracy theories on it.

But his work is very inspiring, especially when there is people like you that did big things. It’s motivating. So I thought I’d share a little history.

Why is there no fishing industry in Lebanon? If we are next to the Mediterranean Sea?

I'm always thinking of ideas to help Lebanon economically. But this idea crossed my mind.

I did hear it was either too expensive or already too much over fishing in the sea? I did also hear someone has a monopoly over the industry? This can seriously bring lots of jobs. Business, ship repair, logistics, you name it.

What can I specialize in to open a mobile mechanic business?

Hey guys, I’m looking to start my mobile mechanic business. I realized I’m sick of the problem solving and going to work and not knowing wtf is the problem until I figure it out.

So I’m thinking of specializing in something instead that way I can just get to opening a business, cause if it would probably take me like 8-10 years of experience if i was to do general automotive repair to open a business in this industry.

I have about 3 years of experience. I also did self study a lot and certified in electrical by a college. I can do lots of R and R around the engine and front end work. I have lots of experience doing oil changes on diesel.

My buddy also does automotive locksmithing, maybe I can ask him to teach me.

What can I do? Should I specialize in electrical on cars? I’ve even seen some people do ECU repair or repair seat belts although that’s a big learning curve.

Greek perspective on the origins of olive trees and olive oil?

I'm Lebanese and recently learned that some of the earliest evidence of olive domestication and olive oil production comes from the Levant. I know Greece is famous for olive oil today, but I'm curious: how is the history of olive cultivation taught in Greece? Is it generally understood that olives and olive oil spread westward through the levant area to the Mediterranean , or is there a different perspective?

Just asking to learn and talk history

Italian perspective on the origins of olive trees and olive oil?

I’m Lebanese and recently learned that some of the earliest evidence of olive domestication and olive oil production comes from the Levant/Eastern Mediterranean. I know Italy is famous for olive oil today, but I’m curious: how is the history of olive cultivation taught in Italy? Is it generally understood that olives and olive oil spread westward through the Mediterranean and the levant area, or is there a different perspective?

Edit: Okay thank you guys for your answers. I was just curious and wanted to talk history. Italian food is the best

What if Gamal abdel nasser never died a year after Gaddafi came into power? Both pushed heavily for Pan-Arabism. What would the Middle East look like today?

Gamal Abdel Nasser pushed HEAVILY to unite the Middle East like crazy.

Gaddafi had the same views as well. But he wasn't in power yet. Gaddafi looked up to gamal and inspired him when he was younger.

IT WAS SO CLOSE. Gamal passed away only a year into Gaddafi coming into power. Imagine the power house of Libya with their massive oil wealth and the influence of Egypt.

I really wonder what the area would look like.
