Hey all!!
I’m really knuckling down to recover from my OCD, and I’m getting passably good at sitting with and not performing mental compulsions (i struggle with moral scrupulosity, harm, and relationship OCD).
BUT, I also have pretty major food-focused contamination OCD (I have emetophobia and am terrified of vomit—also working on that in therapy lol) and I genuinely can’t figure out how to not perform certain compulsions.
For example, if food is left out of the fridge or was in a cooler with ice packs after going out to eat somewhere, my immediate compulsion is to check the food’s temperature by feeling the container. I don’t know how to put the food away without checking its temperature because I have to touch the container to put it away. Sometimes I have my fiance put it away instead of me to avoid that compulsion, but I have no idea what to do when he’s not there or is otherwise unable to put it away for me.
For another example, I recently have felt compelled to inspect chicken every time I get it at a restaurant to make sure it’s fully cooked. I can’t figure out how not to do that, either, since I have to look at my food in order to eat it.
I want to get better, and I know not performing compulsions is a major way to get better. I just genuinely can’t figure out a way to physically not perform these!
I’m grateful for any advice y’all have 🩷
Hey all! 27 year old AFAB with an MRI scheduled. I’ve been lactating for about a month and a half now with elevated prolactin—I thought it might have been caused by omeprazole, but considering it’s been about a month and a half since I discontinued that, it’s looking less likely.
I previously had elevated prolactin and lactation a bit over a year ago, when I started taking risperidone. After I got off the risperidone, the lactation stopped within I think a month? My prolactin levels went down a bit but I forgot to get my levels checked again a few months ago so i don’t know if they ever got into normal range (definitely regretting missing that lab).
But now it’s happening again. My doc has me set up for an MRI, so I don’t know if it’s a prolactinoma, but I figured I’d ask if anyone had a similar situation to mine.
Oh, I’m also having like a REALLY long period rn—currently at 2 and a half weeks 🙃 Anyone experienced that with a prolactinoma?
For TLDR:
- had presumed medication induced elevated prolactin a year ago that seemingly resolved
- started up again about a month and a half ago and is persisting
- lengthy period
Very much NOT seeking a diagnosis as, again, I have an MRI scheduled. Just genuinely curious if there’s similarity.
Hello all
Have any of y’all who’ve gotten married/are engaged ruminated over your wedding dress choice? I loved it day of and I love it now, but I keep ruminating that I’m picking the wrong dress and noticing like ONE thing that I kind of wish was different. I love this dress and feel like an absolute princess, but every time I think about it I get a sick feeling in my gut. The day I picked it I had a whole cry freaking out that I picked the wrong one.
It just really, really sucks. It’s 100% my OCD, and it just sucks.
Have any of you experienced this?
