Being Thrown Down the Stairs
I was just thinking about a situation that happened to me about 20 years ago. I was a young adult, but I was always odd, and still thought much like a kid at this point in my life. My boyfriend (at the time) was visiting me at my apartment building. We were at the top of the staircase near the front door. We were arguing about something silly, and ended up pushing each other around a little.
He ends up throwing me down the stairs, which I think was an accident and he only meant to knock me down on the floor, but now I'm not sure. Anyway, I fell from the top of the staircase, head first, and I felt like I flipped over mid air. I landed about the middle of the staircase on my back, but tilted slightly to my left side.
Then I got up and went back up the stairs. No bruises, no scratches, no pain. My boyfriend looked surprised and a little shocked. We even laughed about it after that. My child-like way of thinking actually found it amusing, because I had taken some martial arts classes before that, and I thought that helped me fall without getting hurt, but in the martial arts class we only practiced falling on a flat mat.
But as the years pasted, I began to realize how messed up this whole thing was. So how likely is it to survive something like this unharmed?
