First return model

I collected Crimson Fists as my first Marines back in 2018. After COVID, I decided to sell my 2/3k points collection to make way for other projects, and pretty much regretted it since.

After hyping up the chapter to a friend who's on the edge of the hobby, I realised that my painting skills had come a long way since then, so ordered a model to test.

I legit forgot how fun and relatively easy it is to paint and model these guys. I've tried Carcharodons, I've done Admech for a bit, I've been collecting Alpha Legion. All are fun in their own right, but the models don't work for me, or the paint job is so awkward and precise I never actually get any painting done. What started as a one off model to scratch the itch has reminded me why I picked these guys when I started 40k along with Guard.

Already got more lads on the way. Wish the basing came out better in these photos, but it's done in an ashy/Armageddon wastes kinda style. Also wish I'd been a bit slicker with my unit marking transfer, it's a little wrinkled. Will try and include some of my old CF models if I can find the photos.

Okinawa Prefixes

Just an immersion breaking complaint. I picked up the NV Multi Mission when the pack launched as I'd been waiting to do an ENT era build.

That said, when I've looked into how I want to run it, I ended up leaning more into running the NV looks on the Okinawa Pilot ship. The only issue is: the Okinawa can't take a blank or S.S. Prefix like the NV can. I assume this is due to it being, underneath, a ship from the Wrath of Khan era.

Unsure if the Devs have ever gone back and modified stuff like this. Just feels like, if a ship has an ENT era skin, you should be able to use ENT era appropriate prefixes.

Side note, if anyone can recommend some good NV builds with era aesthetic weapons, I'm all ears. Currently planning to run Protostar phasers as they look good enough, ideally DBBs up front, but the 4/4 is killing me.

"Shower" thought/idea

Hard to come up with a title for this but it's a persistent thought I've been having while playing for the last few months, and it comes from the realisation I guess we all come to eventually. You could literally be tens of metres from another player: over a ridgeline, at the other end of a town, and never see each other or be aware of the other. It's kinda why I love this game. I could be alone, or I could be within 600m of 3 other people, all of us oblivious to the others. I've been the one watching from the woodline, sneaking around is how I prefer to play. Which leads me to my thought, and I can't imagine I'm the only one having considered it.

I would love some kind of way to just spectate a full server.

Now I know there's a whole bunch of issues there with people spotting for their friends actually playing the server. Frankly there's no good way to even approach handling it. That said, I would watch the shit out of this sort of thing. You can fly your camera around the map, able to see a little icon that marked the players, both on a map and hovering in the world. You could just hover over a player, watch how they play, watch what they do, then zoom off to someone else who's having a completely different experience. The main draw would be watching as players start coming together, seeing if they are aware of each other, how they react, seeing the gunfight from above.

I could watch this sort of stuff all day, I'd find it endlessly fascinating. Watching streamers is great, but it's not this spectating random players. It would give insight into where people go, how they play, what they do/don't notice about their surroundings. Is that one player who happens to be alone in their quarter of the map playing as if they're alone, or are they sneaking around worried about every bush, despite nobody being within kilometres of them.

Like I said, there's so many reasons this doesn't work. Friends in discord directing friends, people "spectating" their server to see where people are stashing stuff. It's not practical. I'm not under the delusion this could ever happen at scale. I guess server admins might be able to do this? I'm not sure the sort of stuff admins can do as I've never looked into hosting.

Just a random DayZ wish I know will likely never get fulfilled, and wondering if I'm alone in this.

Edit, for clarity: I'm absolutely not saying this should be a thing, or wanting it to be a thing. I can't overstate in this post how much I know this doesn't work: stashes, streaming locations to players in the server. Quite a few people have replied to say "it's not possible". Politely: I know. This was just a discussion on how interesting people would or wouldn't find it. "I wish this was doable, but it never would be".

Vyshnoye - DE41something

To the two lads with a car near Vyshnoye just now, Good Fight. I wasn't sure you'd stop after I winged two hail Mary shots at you as you passed.

I'm not sure you knew where I was either, as after my bottle suppressor died, your shots weren't close enough to snap or whine, but fair play for sticking around and trying. You helped me *annihilate* my longest range shot record and reach 718m.

Main reason for the post is to commend the *balls of steel* one of you had after lying next to your dead mate, grabbing his gear into the car, and booking it. I thought I'd hit you at the start of the fight, but you kept going. I can't begin to imagine the level of shakes as you had to come round the car out of cover to get in and drive off.

I've never really properly tried sniper gameplay in dayZ, but that was really fun, and I'm glad one of you lived to fight another day.

10/10, would full Arc build again

Arc Maul and Rifle are perfect. Absolutely no notes. Most fun I've had in Darktide in a while.
Praise the Motive Force!
