Getting a head-start on making Cutout Legends from Vendetta prerifts~

I use an Xacto knife to cut out the backgrounds of Legends. They’re sleeved up with a new, shinier background card, making for a fun mix-and-match customized alter!

I’ve been making 3-5 Cutout Legends every day for the past 3 weeks, and just finished Origins!

My plan is to continue up through Set 4, and have a healthy stash of 350-500 cutouts by the time of LA RQ.

My Akali binder came out so well I had to continue!

Aaand I’ve now bought a over a dozen binders in different colors with projects in mind (RIP my wallet 😭)

Painted using ~32 different acrylic paint markers (shoutout Arrtx and Posca). Designed on Photoshop and printed as a stencil.

I altered an Abandoned Hall for an art trade with my buddy @naylis.art (IG)!

I’ve been playing with adding a gold vinyl frame to cards, but I wanted to see what a silver frame would look like with this card’s cooler tones.

This was my first time applying a vinyl frame to a full-art painted alter, it took a bit of practice before I was confident with the permanent vinyl 😂

Unfortunately the vinyl only pops in photos when the light hits it just right, which is also when the light hits and highlights my not-perfectly-flat paint layers 🤷🏼‍♀️ In-person it’s very nice~

Painted with Liquitex Basics acrylics. The vinyl frame was designed with Photoshop, cut with Cricut and applied *very carefully* with transfer tape.

Hello there, fellow believers in Progress,

I was On My Way to testing something cool (a full-art painted card with a vinyl border), when in testing, I realized I had inadvertently made something cool!

Here is a simple vinyl frame for Spells & Battlefields. Template was designed on Photoshop, uploaded and scaled (2.5” width) in Cricut software, then cut out using permanent self-adhesive shiny gold vinyl!

I used transfer tape for the application, 100% would recommend as these lines want to be *straight*. It was even tricky with this method, you might see Abandoned Hall in the video got a little wonky in the top left corner. Mistakes are so noticeable 😭

I found the most success lining up the template on the tape with opposite corners on the card and then pressing down smooth!

The gold blends nicely with the existing card and is a more subtle alter, adding a lovely shine at different angles. For a more dramatic look try white vinyl or different colors~

Salutations, bounders of the Rift,

I’m unfortunately falling deeply into painting binders (curse the Pokemans for making Vault Xs so hard to find online!)

Here’s 2XKO Akali painted on a 4-pocket dark green Vault X~

I dropped the image in Photoshop and scaled it to my binder space. Printed the picture out and cut it up to use as a stencil.

I used a White Posca marker to trace/mark Akali’s silhouette & landmark features (eyes, arms, etc.) onto the binder, then used Arrtx acrylic markers to layer and fill in the color!

Her hair was a beast, I had to blend acrylics to find the dark grey shadows color 😭

Overall this took me ~10 hours of painting. I still need to spray seal some matte finish before calling it 100% done.

I heard that Project K trial deck Legends were allowed at a Regional event, which meanssss

Project K artwork can be recognizable as the original card, which meansssss

Here is a real, basic Volibear Legend card, with the original card name still clearly visible, with Project K inspired artwork and formatting designed, printed, and slapped on top.

So a Volibear Altered-Printout Legend.

So by definition: a tournament legal proxy.

Still up to head judge approval for event legality, but I think he looks clean 🤩

My Volibear deck is now ~50% altered!

Here’s my simplest alter yet!

Use an Xacto blade / box cutter / scissors (trickier), cut out a Reflection token’s might symbol in the top corner + the name & textbox, slip it in a sleeve for a Reflection cover card!
