Why is "flotsam" such a cute word?

I think it's because the word is soft and pleasing to say. Also, it evokes images of random things gently floating on the oceans surface.

It is a word with zero threat, danger or malevolence about it.

About a year ago, I told my dad that the first ever man-made object to enter space was an artillery shell from one of those massive World War II German cannons. Was I actually just talking shit?

I think that during its parabolic arc, the shell went high enough to enter space.....sort of.

I do want to just repeat that this was from one of those huge cannons that had to have its barrel replaced after, like, three shots or something.

What are your thoughts on the word "cunty" being repurposed to describe something as excellent or brilliant?

I'm still somewhat bemused by it. I should add that I don't think it passed the threshold of popular usage.

I can't see it sticking as the word has a fundamental feel and meaning to it.

The first time I saw it was when someone said the following regarding Nosferatu in the 2024 film: "Why is his coat so cunty?"

Why are many cosmologists/astrophysicists so stubbornly reluctant about accepting the possibility that space is literally infinite?

I've heard all the arguments. I've read all the theories. And yet my logic and instincts tell me that space, also known as emptiness, never ends.

My very atoms (which do not contain planet-like electron orbitals) tell me so. They don't really, I just wanted to sort of insert a little dig at the planet-like orbital deception.

In any event, nothingness can't just stop.

And I'll tell you something else: I've long said that space is the sole thing in existence to which the term infinite can apply.

This debate is irresistibly compelling and triggering to me. It's triggering in that people talk so much drokking nonsense in discussions on the subject.

People, myself included, have such strong opinions regarding the possibility of space being literally infinite. This endless debate provokes real emotions.

I dislike the word "lunch" for the following reasonable reasons

It is a combination of things. Firstly, it reminds me of luncheon meat, which is bad enough.

Secondly, it's almost like those who speak the term have already begun eating: I'm referring to the CHHH part of the pronunciation. That's not a wonderful sound.

It is particularly prominent when someone with a posh voice uses the word as it sounds like "Shall we get lunCCCCHHHHHH, Claude?"

I can't be the only one.

In The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, do you think the creature was a manifestation of Leon's mum?

It hid above Leon while he slept and proceeded to lick his face. It also seemed somewhat angry at him.

If it was his mum in some sense, why did she want to scare him like that? She otherwise seemed to ostensibly love him.

Can you even imagine how sick a fully realised remake of Nightbreed would be?

The film was ahead of its time and so ambitious. The concept is absolutely beautiful.

I love how, unlike modern horror, it pulls you into a fairytale fantasy world.

Imagine what could be done today if it was made with care and passion.

Have the RAM corporations basically become gangsters

What stuck in my mind is the story from Valve. They said that the RAM makers now contact them and offer them a bit of RAM. However, if they reject it or ask for more, they essentially are taken off the good list.

If they even treat Valve like this, we're in trouble.

I can't believe The Spookies hasn't been remade yet. It's absolutely crying out for it. The concept is fertile and scalable

The film is quite quirky. I particularly like how they never really explain anything to you, unlike the vast amounts of exposition you get in the modern era.

A remake would be a hit 🤨

I want the neural brain chip concept to succeed. We need a deeper, faster and more complex method to express our thoughts

How many times have you felt frustrated because you can't properly articulate the beautiful and complicated thoughts in your brain?

Decay (2015)

I've never actually seen this film mentioned before, but it's quite good.

It is stark and a bit gross.

Skeletor and Evil-Lyns chemistry/dynamic has sort of been living rent free in my brain

Specifically the scene where Skeletor is sitting on his throne reflecting on his greatness as a ruler. And Evil-Lyn slowly walks up the steps to him purring "You are the mightiest".

I really want a film made solely about these two 🤨

What's truly stopping us from splicing our DNA with that of a shark, tortoise or lobster in order to live for hundreds of years?

Is it merely ethics?

I'm discombobulated, stunned and aching at the sheer savage amount of unused and unseen celestial bodies in the universe

200 billion stars and hundreds upon hundreds of billions of planets in a single galaxy.

At least 2 trillion galaxies.

Why?

If you had the chance to travel to the inside of a black hole, would you accept the one way trip?

Would the knowledge and experience be worth it? You'd be the first to see if the theories are complete nonsense or accurate.

You'd be paying the ultimate price. However, you may well get to see a singularity 😐
