Saw Michah Morris at the range today.

My daughter was playing in a First Tee tournament today. I pointed out this guy and said, “Look, that guy looks just like Micah Morris.” My daughter said, “Yeah, I could see it.”

About 4 holes in, someone in our group said, “Why is there such a big crowd following that group?” Another caddy said, “Oh, that’s the Micah Morris group.” I laughed and said, “I said the same thing. He looks just like him.” The other caddy said, “No, it’s actually him. I saw him sign in.” “Oh. Cool.” I guess he has a relative in the boys 12 under group he caddies for.”

Anyway, my daughter had 6 three-putts and still managed to shoot a 78. She took 2nd place and 1st place in season points.

Can anyone explain this for me

My daughter is an artist and makes (I think) some pretty amazing animations, but I don’t get this one, and I feel silly asking her. I thought maybe r/Supernatural could help me out?

I'm lost - Overnight Sensation Build is turning into a nightmare

I posted here a while back troubleshooting a pair of Overnight Sensation speakers that are causing my Loxjie A30 to click and go into what appears to be overload/protection. I'm still lost after constant testing, I purchased aLCR meter and a better soldering iron because my 30w Radio shack iron from 1996 wasn't giving the best looking joints.

Here's everything I've tested so far: I'm a novice at speaker building and never had to troubleshoot a build so most of my tests were found via search and/or AI suggestions.

Rundown/Equipment/setup

  • I have a pair of C-Notes that I built previously. They work perfectly on the same Loxjie A30.
  • I built a pair of Overnight Sensations for my son.
  • Both Overnight Sensations cause the A30 to click and shut down/protect when connected.
  • I use the same speaker connections/cables for the Overnight Sensations that I use for the C-Notes.
  • Swapping Channels, connecting both OS or one OS and one C-note result in the same. C-note works, OS clicks.

Testing the Overnight Sensations on another amplifier

  • I remembered I had an old set of powered computer speakers in the garage.
  • I disconnected one of the computer speakers and connected the Overnight Sensations to the computer-speaker amplifier.
  • Both Overnight Sensations work normally on that amplifier.
  • This seems to indicate that both speakers are capable of producing sound.
  • This was discovered after all the following testing, and all joints were re-soldered.

Crossover component testing
disconnected from the amplifier I tested the components individually.

Capacitors:

  • 0.22 µF → 0.21–0.22 µF
  • 1.5 µF → 1.5 µF
  • 2.2 µF → 2.14 µF
  • 6.8 µF → 6.66 µF

I lifted one leg of each capacitor before measuring it and resoldered the leg afterward.

Resistors:

  • 6 Ω / 10 W → 5.8 Ω with one leg lifted
  • 10 Ω / 10 W → 8.8–9.0 Ω with one leg lifted

Inductors:

  • 1.1 mH → 1.1 mH
  • 0.35 mH → 0.35 mH

The inductors also showed DC continuity:

  • 1.1 mH coil → 0.5 Ω
  • 0.35 mH coil → 0.7 Ω

Drivers

  • connected the amp direct to the tweeter and woofers. - all 4 work when crossover is bypassed.

Crossover resistance/path testing
With the crossover disconnected from the amplifier:

  • IN+ → IN− initially measured 7.3 Ω, later 7.6 Ω, and after resoldering/testing settled around 7.1 Ω
  • W+ → W− → 6.7 Ω
  • T+ → T− → 3.8 Ω

I also checked these paths:

  • IN+ → W+ → 0.7 Ω
  • IN− → W− → 0.1 Ω
  • IN+ → T+ → 7.1 Ω
  • IN− → T− → 3.7 Ω

The IN+ to IN− resistance stayed around 7 Ω while I gently flexed/wiggled the crossover wiring, so I didn't see an intermittent short there.

AC voltage testing
I used an AstroAI AM33D multimeter for AC voltage (my good meter died) and a Proster BM4070 LCR for component testing.

The AM33D was set to V~ 200 V, which is its lowest AC-voltage range.

With the Overnight Sensation crossover disconnected from the amp, I measured approximately 0.4–0.7 V AC directly at the Loxjie speaker output while music was playing.

When the Overnight Sensation crossover was connected to the A30, the meter showed 0.00 V at:

  • the crossover input
  • the woofer output
  • the tweeter output

I also measured directly across the A30's speaker output while the crossover was connected and got 0.00V. As soon as I unplug the crossover, the Loxjie output across the + and - immediately jumps to 0.4-0.7V and back to 0.00 when connected to the crossover

I realize the 200 V AC range is very high for measuring a speaker-level signal, so I'm not sure how much weight to put on those 0.00 V readings.

so:

The A30 works perfectly with my C-Notes using the same connections.

Both Overnight Sensations work when connected to the old computer-speaker amplifier.

I've individually tested all the crossover components I can identify, and the measured values all appear reasonable. Both drivers also measure normally.

Yet when either Overnight Sensation is connected to the Loxjie A30, I get a click and what appears to be the amp going into overload/protection?

What am I missing? Is it possible the boards are defective?

WTS Taylormade P790/P770 split set (5-PW) with extra shafts (KBS black stiff)

Selling my daughter’s TaylorMade P790/P770 split set. The set is just over one year old.

The original shafts were too light for her swing, and she had multiple club heads break off. TaylorMade no longer carried the original shaft, so when clubs needed to be replaced, they ended up using mismatched KBS shafts.

She practices at a water range, so a couple of the replacement clubs were eventually lost and replaced entirely by TaylorMade. The 7-iron is approximately 3 months old, and the 9-iron is brand new and still in the package.

We recently moved her to a full set of P770s, but TaylorMade didn’t have the shaft she needed available. I ordered the new set with KBS Tour Black steel shafts, then had the shafts pulled without ever hitting them. Those shafts are included with this set so the irons can be re-shafted to have a matching set.

The pitching wedge has noticeable finish wear from practicing in a sandy chipping area. This is primarily cosmetic—the grooves still have plenty of life left. I included a close-up photo of the grooves for reference.

Asking $700 shipped.

Help! Just built some Overnight Sensations, both speakers just click.

They do it as soon as they are plugged in, even with no audio playing, just the amp on. I have speakers on the same amp that work with no issues. Also, bypassing the crossover confirms both tweeter and woofer work. I’ll post the crossover in the comments.

Time to replace the pump?

It’s not a grind issue, the pump will do this with any amount of pressure and it’s intermittent. I’ll have this issue then it disappears for weeks then pops back up for a while.

Saw someone post their Payntr shoes. Thought I’d share my daughters Adidas Codechaos after 11 months of almost daily use.

Mixing wedges?

My 15-year-old daughter had her almost-new Vokey SM10 54° stolen out of her bag.

She currently plays a Vokey 50° and 58°, and we were already planning to reshaft all of her irons and wedges after a recent fitting.

The reason I’m asking is she gets 40% off TaylorMade, so the choice is basically between buying a brand-new TaylorMade MG4 54° or finding a used Vokey 54.10S for about the same money.

Anyone have mixed wedges? Is there any real issue other than looks? She does compete so i wouldn’t want the mismatch to be an issue for her but we are also working with a basically non-existent budget so cost is a factor as well.

[WTS] P790/P770 split set

There will be a brand-new 9 iron included. TaylorMade is currently sending a replacement.

The shafts are mismatched but very similar. Originally the set had Fujikura Speeder NX shafts. The 7-iron head separated from the shaft last year, and TaylorMade replaced it with a KBS Max 65g shaft because they no longer stocked the Speeder. More recently, the 9-iron head separated from the shaft at a water range and was lost, so TaylorMade is sending a brand-new replacement 9-iron, also with a KBS Max 65g shaft.

My daughter has outgrown these clubs and is moving into a completely new setup. TaylorMade has offered $450 as a trade-in. Before I go that route, I wanted to see if there’s interest here and whether the market value is higher than the trade-in offer.

[WTS] Taylormade irons shafts of your choice? $300

Not sure if this is odd or if anyone would be interested, but I figured I’d throw it out there.

I need to buy a set of P770s for my daughter and have them re-shafted at KBS. I’d like to recover a little of the cost by selling the stock shafts that come with the irons. I’ll ask TaylorMade not to install them, but I’m not sure they’ll do that.

TaylorMade currently has free upgrades on most iron shafts. Is anyone looking for a specific shaft and willing to work something out ahead of time? I can place the order with the shaft and specs of your choice.

Wasn’t sure what price to use so just put $300 to satisfy the rules.

My daughter testing her ball speed.

My daughter posted this in r/golfswing and wanted to share it here too, but she doesn’t really use Reddit, so I’m posting.

This was filmed at the Cabot Citrus Farms range while we were there with First Tee, not at our home course. She’s 15 years old, 5’4”, and about 105 lbs. Her driver is a 12.5° Callaway Elyte set to 11.5°, and the shaft is a regular flex, which likely adds some spin and costs her a little distance.

She has never done any speed training before. This was simply her first time seeing what kind of ball speed she could produce. A lot of people were concerned about injury risk, but the goal here was “don’t worry about form or results, just swing as hard as you can.”

Her normal on-course driver swing is around 95 mph with ball speed around 135 mph, so this is considerably more aggressive than her typical controlled swing.

She gets to go back next week. We’ll see if she can hit 150.

What Does a college golfers day look like?

Not sure if this is the right place, but are there actual college golfers in here or mostly people who follow/talk about college golf?

My daughter wants to play in college, and her freshman year of high school was tough to balance between school, golf, training, and life in general.

We’re trying to build a better structure for next year and would love to hear what a typical day/week looks like for players currently competing in college golf.

If anyone would be willing to share:

  1. Daily schedule/routine

  2. How you balance school, workouts, practice, recovery, etc.

  3. What your practice structure looks like

That would be super appreciated .

Right now we’ve started organizing practice into block practice, random practice, and skill-based work, but structured training is still pretty new to us since she doesn’t really have a full coaching team, just a swing coach and dad. She also let golf get in the way of grades and is now crunching to get everything done by the end of the year.

Appreciate any insight from players, parents, or coaches here or advice on a better place to post.
