Obs settings (encoding?)

So I get a lot of contradictory information on how to set up my streaming PC on obs. I guess encoder settings is the main point I'm a little lost.

What I have is ASUS NUC 14 Pro AI RNUC14LNKU7094H2

So this is strictly for obs and not gaming.

Should I encode with the graphics card? Intel arc 140v?

Or should I use the processor?

Two pc setup via capture card

So I'm in the unfortunate hobby of gaming a lot of indie games. And although I love playing them they do tend to be buggy. Sometimes those bugs take down my entire stream. My stream itself is stable. So I'm kind of fed up, I'm not a huge streamer but I'm looking to get a second pc. I do run all my alerts locally and my obs setup is on the heavy side. But I was looking at a 32gb mini PC of sorts to do this, this is thinking a bit of the future where I may also run it as a 24 hour server. Is 32gb overkill? Or are we talking just enough kill?

What to spend "points" on?

So I'm looking for a little inspiration, next to channel points I have my own set of points.

The basics of those points is that I game a lot of horror, and users get points for calling out various cliches that typically happen in horror movies or games. Like "I heard a strange noise, let's split up" or a great big ammo pile means boss fight etc my community has taken too it and it's become a fun thing. Now healthy competition is always fun and that in itself is a thing worth keeping.i just wanna hear some options and ideas of how to celebrate a winner, I do giveaways every month (competition based) and maybe that could give the winner a small leg up? (I'm sceptical about that one) I have a wall behind me where I hang viewer related things, maybe a trophie on the wall? If I could make a custom badge that would be EPIC! I do have streamerbot so maybe a badge they and only they can flash for a short time. If anyone could throw some ideas at me I'd be grateful. And thanks for reading

Channel intro

So I've been struggling with my channel intro, if it's one thing I've said "I'll do it this week" a lot that's the phrase. I'd say the channel is doing well, I have a huge amount of ideas but I never sat down in davinci and made an actual video. And here are the veterans and creative people. To you, what does a good channel intro do and what should it contain?

In case I'm using the wrong phrase, the video the plays on your channel when you are offline

Preserving koriander

So once a week I make a universal sauce, takes about half a koriander plant to make. It's a small household so no I can't make one out of a full plant.

My question is how can I preserve the rest? I've failed at every way I tried and I don't want this to go to waste. I thought about drying it, don't have a dryer but I do have an oven, I'm guessing using the airfryer won't work.

Does anyone have any tips for me?

Shoutout tools

So the shoutout is one one of the most important things you can do as a streamer, it's important to lift others in your community UP!

We all gotta try and shine together, right?

Now I have the technical aspects down, auto shoutouts and all. I started using something called frosty tools to make them fun and creative, but that thing has a looooooong cool down, and I can't live with that. If you are familiar with frosty tools it gives a good creative description of the individual you're shouting out.

And I need an option to frosty tools that doesn't have as much of a cool down.

Does anyone have anything?

Thanks for reading

Clipping twitch

So this is one task I SUCK at.

My twitch channel in itself is doing allright, I have a fun community and I'm doing my thing.

But I'm doing myself NO favors by not doing any clipping.

I get a couple good ones from the community but I've been too damn lazy.

So what tools can I as a lazy person use to get some clipping done?

*Edit, point taken. I agree. That was whiney and lazy. I'll just do better.

I am humbled

I just want to put this out there, it's rough being a tiny streamer trying to make something of yourself in a world where 100 viewers ain't nothing.

So I had a few bad streames recently, tech issues up through the god damned nose.

But here I am logging on again and every time despite 6 average viewers they always make me feel like a star, they make songs about me, I have a thousand pictures of me drinking Pepsi (Wich is the one HIGE internal joke) and I never run out of people to talk to, vids to watch or laughs to be had.

Now it can be rough at times but this is the place a nobody can feel like a king for a few hours. At least until I raid out.

Am I flexing? On the side maybe but I just want to express gratitude. This platform has done a lot for me

Shaping the brim (cowboy hats)

So I live in Norway and here in the eu there's limited access to food hat brands like stetson, ahc, resistol etc. The best I found to fit my taste was a ringers western, and it looks nice but I'm not sure how that brand stacks up in terms of quality. I'm looking to buy something legit, there is a small assortment of stetson available to me, but I really want to shape the brim a little to give it a more aggressive look.

Is that something I could do myself?

Aitum stream suite

So I'm not sure if I understand this all correctly but with aitum stream suite you can both stream to TikTok and record multiple scenes?

The way i understand it you setup to record multiple scenes then you can split it up later?

So you can record your gamez face, chat and whatever all into one video and split it with....VLC?

Don't judge yourself too harsly

So... I had a co-op stream the other day, not something I usually do as it takes away too much attention from the real hero on twitch. The chat. Now I always give it my all to make whatever I'm doing entertaining in some way and I felt like a complete failure, and we all heard that we are our own harshest critics, and that's certainly true for me.

Then when I got to work today I saw a message from one of my followers, and well... It blew me away how different my perception of myself is from what others perceive

"I hope you saw how much I appreciate you during your stream yesterday. You have a gift for making the game more entertaining than it would be otherwise. You’re more successful in areas that none of us other streamers can even come close to. Yeah, you have your faults like the rest of us, but you’re the one we look up to. Thank you for being who you are, brother. You matter. Without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today on Twitch. So thank you very much 🙂 Good luck at work. Have a couple of cups of coffee for me too 🙂"

That made my day, I needed a short coffee break to catch my breath.

Now I guess I'm lucky someone said something, but if you got a single viewer or if you have duzins and they keep showing up.... I guess you must be doing SOMETHING right.

Right machine for he job? (Hardware help)

So I need some help with hardware, I do have obs on my gaming machine which is a bit of a beast. Doing something else now and I'm looking for a laptop to do the job.

This is strictly a two person interview setting so I have two good cameras and a microphone.

Using it for recording and not going live.

The machine I'm looking at is a Samsung Galaxy book 6, i5 processor with 16gb ram.

I'm sure a lot of people will say that's expensive but I'm fortunate enough to get this at an incredible price.

Now I've never done any obs with a machine like this before. With my only goal being a two person interview so I only need the source record plugin can anyone tell me I'm way off or on?

So, wonderful camera the elgato face cam (mk.II ?) but it's build quality is a bit... Well lesser.

And I guess it's partially my fault that I broke mine.

The screw attachment is very weak and screwing it in to anything that isn't the screw it came with might just undo that whole screw.

But I just wanted to show off this fix, maybe I'm an idiot but as far as I've seen several people have had this problem. But I fixed it instead of getting yet another cam. 1/4 screw plate from temu (I know... Shame!) and a couple of magnets.

So my cam isn't as beautiful any more but it works the same, even a little more flexible I might say.

So Elgato, please buff up the build quality!

And if you managed to mess up the way I did, here is a fix. And it cost around 5 bucks.
