Reversing Valve concern

Got a problem in the field, asking for some advice.

Doing some selfless service on the 4th (lol) by helping with a cooling issue. They installed a smart thermostat (Honeywell) and it is blowing hot air.

I go through the normal procedures by checking air filters, making sure nothing is crushed, refrigerant levels, so on and so forth.

I'm kind of baffled as i started troubleshooting outside because the superheat was extremely high. Like 115 degrees high. I was thinking and started switching the cooling and heating modes and boom. Reversing Valve energizing on heat but cools the house, cooling leaves the reversing Valve open and heats the house.

Is that an issue with the smart thermostats or what? I gave them the heads up but I'm not too savvy with smart thermostats so this is a good learning lesson for me.

Sorry y'all, late night rant

I have a problem and want to run it through some veterans that could help a brother out.

Just got another TXV in and installed it. Prior to doing a pressure test I hit it with some vacuum just to take any atmospheric air out. Then I decided why not and let the vacuum pimp run.

After closing it up and stop the pump, the micron gauge steadily rised. So to test for leaks I just filled it with nitrogen to 175 PSI it's been an hour and it has not dropped one PSI.

I'm assuming it's my valve core removal tools causing a vacuum leak (they are the cheaper ones) but it could be some vet knowledge that I'm not aware of. I just did a double check and read The AC Service Tech manual but what are y'all's take?

Help the ol greenie out.

If you don't have it, get it

Here I have the Hercules universal portable bandsaw benchtop stand. I know this sounds like a bunch of word salad but hear me out.

It takes a little bit of adjustment but don't fret - t's not as much as you think.

It* can hold different brands and has some pretty neat features that just gives it an all out professional touch.

Chain to lock it down, a trigger switch, piston for soft opening and closing, and miter capabilities.

You can even flip it and make it a portable bandsaw in a vertical position. They even gave you a table top that goes with it.

If you have a bandsaw in your garage or shop *then you don't really need to buy it unless you need it for something small and have a bandsaw that you don't really use.

If you don't have a bandsaw, or waiting for the *Bauer bandsaw to go on sale, this could be your best bet.

Mounted inside is the ol rugged and faithful Chicago electric bandsaw 👏👏👏👏👏

Still on sale for $99 until Monday.

Edit: the asterisks are to annotate post corrections for clarity. I use speech to text often.

My one complaint on HF tool lines

There are very few complaints I have with Harbor Freight but here is one of them.

One thing I can't stand is the new products that come out on a regular basis. For the most part, it's good to see progress and new tools roll out. The crappy part is when you bought a tool and then they come out with a better version of the same thing.

Here's my example today: I bought the Ames clamp and regular digital voltmeter. No issues with that but now they have the Doyle versions and the Ames is no more. Add insult to injury, it's the extended parking lot sale and I can get these bad boys for 30% off and that would have saved me a pretty penny. Paid for the Ames full price.

Brothers of the Community, I present to you - The Redeemed Braze!

Shout out to everyone on my last post.

Took all advice and practiced a bit for understanding.

Note: I only had scraps of silfos remaining and because of y'all's info, I was able to braze the other five joints; plus, I was able to make crowns and I did it with Mapp and a turbo torch ( I didn't have oxygen with my acetylene).

Brothers of the Community, I present to you - The World's Worst Braze

Beautiful saturday, children playing, people working on their yards, and here I am brazing.

Now granted I am a s*** brazer so this is nothing new to me. However, I thought I would get a little bit of laugh if everyone else got to see how bad it was too.

Once I put the pressure test on it we'll see how good it really is lol.

Klein is living in the future

I'm at the welding supply and I saw this for the first time. Klein welding helmet. The built in light is whatever but this helmet has a built in fan. FAN! They are on X Games mode.

Went to my regular Harbor Freight and they told me that they didn't have any coming in soon. However, the manager stated that there was two remaining at the other store.

I darted over there to take a chance and lo and behold there was one remaining.

I didn't care for the meme tool ordeal, but my mother has a new vehicle and I need one of these to jack her vehicle up.

Well, not really because you can just put the jack under the frame but it sure does make it convenient.

All right boys I got an update:

While I was preparing to head towards the Atlanta area, I saw this deal around Carrollton Georgia.

An 80-volt atlas lawn mower that had a bagger and self-propelled, an 80v trimmer, a rapid charger, and two 2.5 amp hour (@ 80V) batteries.

Now y'all know I stole it as fast as possible lol. Now that I bought it, I am going to return the string trimmer that I bought but I'm keeping the 4 aH 80V and fast charger.

If everything works perfectly, I will have the 80 volt edger, trimmer, lawn mower, two 2.5 amp hour batteries, 4 amp hour batteries, and two fast chargers by the end of the month.

In addition to this, I am talking to a dude to get his 40v chainsaw and 2.5 amp hour battery for 100 bucks. All I'll need is a blower.

I'll keep up with the update on how it cuts so I can either brag or rag on it.

After a long pause of my lawn mower being out of commission, I fixed it up and started mowing the grass and it died on me right towards the end. Found out it was a bent crankshaft. I was so butthurt.

Mind you this was my Troy-Bilt tb42 riding lawn mower with a bagger that I got for $75 (plus the 150 for the bagger at a separate time). Because of that, I started using my electric weed I eater that I got from my grandmother (RIP) and it died within the first 10 minutes of me using it. It was good and faithful but it took its final passing.

Both of those items of equipment dying on the same day and time cause me to finally give up and invest in the atlas line. I really hope it's better than lynxx (for those that remember when those items came out through Harbor Freight).

The good thing is everything came at a good time. The string trimmer was $10 off so I'll take what I can get; however, the batteries are on ITC sale right now. They're like $50 off so I'm going to get at least four by the end of the month.

I'll increase little by little. First the string trimmer and batteries, next I'll get the edger, and I'll also get the lawn mower and blower.

Wish me luck boys, I'm going all in.
