"ESCAPE" by Rick Remender & Daniel Acuña

"Milton Shaw is a battle-hardened bomber pilot, flying missions over a war-torn world ruled by a ruthless empire. But when his plane is shot out of the sky, Milton wakes up behind enemy lines—in the smoldering ruins of a city he helped burn. And in less than 24 hours, his own side is dropping the big one to finish the job.
Now, injured, unarmed, and being hunted through enemy streets, Milton’s only shot at escape comes from the unlikeliest place: a grieving father and his son—civilians shattered by the same fascist regime that rules this land with an iron claw. Enemies by blood. Allies by circumstance. Together, they’ll have to fight their way out before the bomb drops and erases everything…and everyone."

"His Dark Materials" the novel saga by Philip Pullman

I'm sure many people know these books already, but i actually started watching the HBO series recently after watching the 2007 movie for the first time, and i'm curious about the books now. A thing i noticed was that it's quite the antithesis of the Narnia book series, and i found that very interesting.

"Dogs of War" anthology

"Men have made war for gold, for land, and to put others in chains for millennia. No invention or philosophy has changed that, not gunpowder, not airplanes, not democracy, or even splitting the atom. Whatever the era, whatever the weapon, man has made war on his neighbors. The nature of conflict never changes, because human nature has not changed. But how might that change if it were no longer just humanity going to war--if animal instincts, strengths and skill were to join the battlefield?

Dogs of War is an anthology exploring what warfare looks like when the combatants are no longer fully human. It contains twenty three stories about how war changes when those who do the fighting have changed, and how much it stays just the same."

This special one-shot explores a different side of Salem’s life, one where he acts as an anti-hero meting out vigilante justice against those who harm others like him (animals) in a horror story that equal parts Pet Sematary."

"Heart of a Dog" by Mikhail Bulgakov

"When rich, successful Professor Preobrazhensky befriends a scroungy Moscow mongrel named Sharik, he attempts a scientific first--transplanting into the stray dog the testes and pituitary gland of a recently deceased man. With a lecherous, vulgar human animal now on the loose, the professor's hitherto respectable life descends into chaos as Sharik inevitably finds his niche in the bureaucracy as the government official in charge of purging the city of cats."
