Almond butter food challenge for a 3 year old

Tomorrow my son will be doing an almond butter food challenge (he is almost 3 years old and Allergic to Dairy, Egg, Peanut and Tree Nuts). He knows his allergies and we talk about avoiding these foods all the time. Also he’s a picky eater and he also has a tough time trying new foods (often will chew it but then spit it out and let it dribble over his chin).

I worry that when we go into the appointment he’ll be hesitant to try the almond butter because it’s 1) new 2) an allergen 3) texture similar to peanut butter.

I’m going in armed with his favorite foods and snacks (plus I’m not above some bribery by showing him a superhero thing on my phone) but has anyone had a similar experience with their own child? Anything I should do in advance or prep in a different way?
Thx in advance!

Nervous given recent news- who do I need to contact?

I live in the Roxbury Crossing neighborhood. And I am about to invest in a bike to travel to work (Longwood) while also using it to pick up my son from daycare after work. Biking home from Brookline to Roxbury (~2 miles) shouldn’t make me nervous. But it does, even more so when I have my toddler in the back seat.

I can’t stand hearing about all these cyclists deaths. My heart goes out to each and every one of them and their families. More needs to be done. And I need to stop being scared and take action. Despite my nervousness, I still plan on commuting via bike and I still plan on riding with my toddler.

But who do I need to write to/email/contact to get these streets safer for us using bikes to commute? I’m sure my one email
won’t make changes but maybe if there are more folks out there willing to be a “squeeky wheel” so to speak then eventually something will have to change? right? RIGHT?!

First Jogging Stroller 5k

38 years young, 16 weeks postpartum with my 2nd and really wanted to do a race with a jogging stroller and today was the day! I took my almost 3 year old with me and while it wasn’t a perfect run, it was exactly what I needed to prove that I can actually do it.

I’m not much of a runner and only have done a handful of races under my belt. The furthest I’ve gone was 5 miles and that was when I was in my prime (like 10 years ago).

Today I went in with the goal of just finishing and keeping up with my 2 minute walk/2 minute run intervals. It took me 44 minutes. I’ve practiced with just the empty stroller last week and today was my first time running while actually pushing my toddler and can I just say MY GOD this shit isn’t easy. Major props to you all who do this regularly. I’d love to do this race again and maybe improve my time.
