Trouble creating MyACT account

I am creating a MyACT account to just register and take a practice test. I have entered all info correctly, checked all boxes, kept middle initial box blank because I don't have one as per certificates, entered my address, did the captcha, and everything. And yet, the verify by email box is still grayed out for me. Anyone please help.

Struggling with the SAT 😭

I am starting my sophomore year soon. I took the May SAT when I was completing 9th grade (First attempt) and bombed it. I got a 1380 (RW 650, Math 730). Many People say I did really well for a 9th grader, but I strongly think I could've done better. I was overthinking all the English questions, and the math was pretty twisted. I am thinking of switching to the ACT, as people say it's more straightforward and fast-paced, though you get half the time per question. I don't mind that, as I am used to solving questions fast. I will also take the optional science section as I am going to pursue a STEM degree. If I do take the ACT or go for a re-attempt on the SAT, I am not doing either until I complete junior year, as I wanna go slow and prep right. What are your thoughts?

(The reason I want a high score is that I am an international student aiming for only the top universities in the US. I am aiming for MIT, Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, Caltech, UPenn, and UChicago.)

I thought I was gonna get more on the SAT 😭

I didn't expect much (first attempt btw), but I genuinely thought I would at least get a 1420 or something like that. Should've studied better 😔

Guidance for PROMYS 2027

I am aiming for PROMYS. I have started attempting previous year problem sets to develop the patience required for such programs. I am aiming for the 2027 session. I have a question: I do some programming, and i was wondering if I am allowed to write a small program to test and give the outputs of the first x cases of the rule/formula they give? If it is, it saves loads of time.

How do I use professional language in essays without getting flagged as AI generated?

I am attempting the 2026 John Locke Global Essay prize. I just finished my essay, it is kind of long, has repeating words and has fancy language. My language and usage of words is decently good. I read lots of books. So, i have picked words and word usage across the reading of many books. Many words in my essay like "Transactional bluntness" repeat like 5-6 times in my essay, because i dont wanna use a new term each time i try to imply it (also, there arent many ways i can frame that intent). Will my essay be flagged as AI? Please help.

I am attempting the 2026 session of the John Locke institute essay competition. Going decently so far, but I am worried about one thing: John Locke institute uses many AI detection algorithms; what if they flag my essay as AI generated too? I am taking as many crucial steps as I can to avoid this, like writing my essay in google docs, so that I have version history. I have also been passing my essay from time to time through AI detection websites. They come out as 80-90% AI. I know that such AI detectors aren't accurate at all, but how do I use professional and fancy language in my essay without making them think it is AI? It is a prestigious essay competition, so I must use professional language. And I can't intentionally make spelling mistakes, as that would be a sign of recklessness. I AM IN A DILEMMA HERE PLEASE HELP!! (Please don't DM me with things like "I will humanize your essay for you", and stuff like that. Please keep any advice and conversations to this post only, thanks!)

It is my first time attempting the John Locke essay comp. Actually, it's my first time writing an essay at all. I am not too confused on the topic and research aspect of this, but what I am confused about is the Format, footnotes and bibliography or whatever. It's super confusing, and I don't understand it. I would really appreciate it if anyone can explain all of this, and how to structure and write the essay properly. And also any tips which you might find useful.
