Xbox Series X fails to reconnect to a wireless WiFi network after signal loss, with UI failure. Forces restart

Xbox Series X

OS 10.0.26100.8561 (but this has been going on for years).

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Connect the Xbox Series X to a WiFi network. Verify “Current network status” shows “All services are available” in Settings > General > Network settings.
  2. Disable the WiFi signal (e.g., turn off hotspot). The console enters a “disconnected but searching” state. It will say "Can't connect to your wireless network. Try restarting your router".
  3. After several hours, re-enable the WiFi signal.

Expected Behavior:
The console should automatically reconnect to the, similar to other devices.

Actual Behavior:

  • The console remains in a disconnected, searching state and fails to connect to the any known network. Searching new networks never returns available networks.
  • Attempting to use the “Go offline” feature results in an infinite loading spinner.
  • The UI becomes unresponsive; pressing the 'X' button crashes the loading screen and forces a return to the main settings page.
  • Subsequent attempts to reconnect online continue to display the disconnected state.

Workarounds:

  • Perform a restart of the console (this restores connectivity automatically, to the already known hotspot without issue, works all the time).
  • Occasionally, temporarily changing the default network and switching back may work. Very rarely.

Notes:

If you turn off and turn on the hotspot quickly, the console reconnects without issue. There's a point when it happens but it's not immediate. But it happens 100% of the time.

Will not cancel my subscription as yet, but will definitely reduce the usage

i’m not an avid coder. i just code for fun and like a brain workout, but my full time job is in a totally different industry. i always get ideas for small lil web apps that would help me at work, but the time it takes is just too much, so most of my projects end up abandoned or sitting there for months without me touching them.

copilot actually changed that for a bit. i picked up old projects, fixed stuff, built new things, and it felt kinda great. i could still vibe code but actually get things done. and since i code so rarely, i never even got close to using the full 10 dollars of included requests, even tho i had my budget set to 70. it was like the perfect balance.

then yesterday happened. i barely did anything and suddenly i was at 50 percent of my monthly requests, resetting june 30. for my use case it just became not usable anymore. my may usage, which cost me 0 dollars before, now shows like 150 dollars under the new billing type. kinda wild.

so i tried deepseek after seeing everyone talk about it. dropped 10 bucks on credits, added it to opencode, and honestly it’s doing the job. it’s insanely cheap. i’ve been testing it all day and haven’t even hit 1 dollar. some models don’t understand things super well, but v4 pro has been good for me. for vibe coders this feels like the most realistic option right now.

i’m not cancelling my copilot sub yet, i still have it there in case i need it for something specific, but the cost difference is crazy.

i really hope the barrier to entry goes down again. people love to hate the term vibe coding, but it actually got a bunch of my friends into coding. some of them are already doing the javascript cert on freecodecamp because of it. lowering the friction is what gets new ppl in imo

Taking notes for long RPG/lore heavy games

I swap games a lot and take long to return after I feel burn out. But once return is hard for me to get back to the story. Avowed has this amazing thing they you can get lore info from the dialogue which has make it easier to return, but so many RPGs i have to start again.

I'm vibe coding a web app for personal use only to take notes so I can get back to games (especially RPGs) and have an easier time lore/story wise to get back.

I have a friend that has a physical notebook and he takes notes, and they're amazing. I'm not a note taking person so that doesn't work for me. Do you take notes? What things are relevant to you? Or do you know anybody that takes notes?

I have to restart Witched 3, Cyberpunk, Expedition 33 and Outer Worlds 2 cuz simply I can't remember most things. The gameplay mechanics are way easier to get but story is not as easy

Both processes continue running after closing the window, and still Copilot manages to act like it's a cold launch. I can open ChatGPT several times while the copilot app is still loading its useless interface.

Maybe it’s always been this way, I don’t know if MS even sees this subreddit, but I gotta say it:

I’m a Windows person through and through, and I love that Copilot exists. But it blows my mind that the ChatGPT app is faster than the Copilot app. What started as a simple, fast way to pop open Copilot has turned into this slow, bloated thing.

I work in software. I use AI constantly. Speed is everything. It’s the same reason Google crushed Yahoo and Altavista back in the day, fast, clean, straight to the point. Every search engine copied that formula.

Copilot has a shortcut, sure, but on a low‑end laptop or even a decent one it takes forever to open. It feels sluggish, loads a bunch of stuff I didn’t ask for, crashes often, and behaves inconsistently. It’s honestly upsetting to see Microsoft doing this to their own product.

I own a Surface Book 2, and a Surface Laptop 4. Both decent hardware, and in both the experience is just so lame. Alt+Space brings this pop up that takes some seconds to load. The goddamn thing is already in my taskbar, and still every time I type the shortcut, I can see this slow ass interface loading like it's chocking itself by simply opening. If you open the big mode, there is so much shit, recommendations and crap, it's like opening Bing.

Please de‑clutter Copilot. Goddammit. Stop overcrowding your shit Microsoft
