Map Unique Mechanics or Qualities I Wish Returned More: Part 1, WAW

Something I have recently been thinking in my head is how there are a lot of qualities and mechanics of all zombies maps that are unfortunately locked to one or a few maps and rarely see returns. As a result, I decided I want to start a series of posts going through each Black Ops Zombies game (I may do the non BO ones eventually but my issue is I have played so little of them bar IW) and give my thoughts on qualities or mechanics I think could be reused or make a return. For a disclaimer, in this post ALL map qualities or mechanics I am wanting will be based on their original debut in WAW itself as close as possible with some exceptions.

Nacht Der Untoten:

Nacht is a very difficult map to talk about in this way being the progenitor of all maps, cause what quality or mechanic DIDN'T come back in later maps, right? As a result I am simply going to go with the idea of a barebones, hardcore survival map. Considering how Nacht over time became easier and easier to cheese (not to mention that both of its remakes got overpowered Wonder Weapons and Gobbles in BO3's case), I think it would be worth an attempt on 3arc's part to make a new barebones map that excludes one or multiple key mechanics to amplify the difficulty.

Verruckt:

Again, Verruckt is also pretty difficult to brainstorm things unique to it that didn't later return, but I think its best quality was always how claustrophobic and isolating the map felt. Therefore, I think the quality/mechanic that should return is more or less a spiritual successor to this vibe. A good way of achieving this would be doing the split spawns again, but maybe by twisting it into getting four randomized spawns. Either way, Verruckt like all the maps on this part will be hard to conjure up ideas for.

Shi No Numa:

I think I am gonna keep this one short and concise: I just want a map like Shi No again that is a pain in the ass to traverse without unlocking the fast travel. I won't rag on any modern mechanics but one thing I hate is how fast we progress across maps or areas. SNN did a great job of making it something you have to earn.

Der Reise:

I am going to be stretching pretty hard on Der Reise, but I think no map has ever come close to the quality of high-risk camping as the Catwalk has. There are some that come close (like Buried's Jug hallway), but they are either cushioned by easy-to-access escape points, or have overpowered weapons/mechanics to aid the player. In Der Reise's case though, the Catwalk is pushed up into a box spawn with no escape route, you risk losing your Jug should you have the Waffe up there and incur the glitch, and you have a desperate sense of isolation. I genuinely do not think any other map 3arc has put out since it has come close (including the Giant)

The absurd downgrade in MP’s quality since this season started should give everyone pause on continuing playing BO7

Don’t get me wrong, I have had a blast in this game all year long. But THIS season has got to be the absolute worst I’ve seen in any live service COD purely from a “they’ve totally fucked up” stance.

Whether it be the blatant lie regarding how they brought back “BO2 MM” (what a joke), the awful balance of weapons currently in MP (if you’re not using the Mammoth or MPC you’re simply never gonna beat the sweats who are), or the everlasting general dogshit that is the servers and latency issues — it doesn’t matter which of these it is because it is unacceptable from Activision and Treyarch. While I fully believe this is in part to deflect popular anger away from MW4 and the inevitable shitshow IW is cooking up there, I also believe 3arc has heavily regressed into being the studio that barely communicated as it was during the BO4 days

Why hasn't California or Arizona invested in building desalination plants to help reduce strain on the Colorado River, especially in regards to the up-river states?

From what I have seen, these are the two largest users of the Colorado River's allocation of water. I recognize Arizona is not a coastal state either, but would it not be smarter for these two to invest in desalination for their water use?

I just got the first planet coaster, should I instead have gotten the sequel?

I didn’t buy any dlcs but I am curious on what I’m missing out on in the sequel and even the dlcs for the first game

I am genuinely so frustrated that BO6’s perceived mediocrity and the back to back titles from 3arc have blown back on what I think is their best game since BO3

I realize not everyone is a huge fan of modern zombies, but I don’t see how people can’t at minimum agree that BO7 demonstrates quite clearly the passion is there in Treyarch’s dev team especially in regards to the art and direction of each map. With Kowakujo about to launch I think it’s even more abundantly apparent that they want each map to have a unique identity, something that was lacking for a greater part of the modern era. Just really sucks that what’s probably the best zombies in a decade will not be nearly as played, even despite how huge launch for BO6 was a little over a year and a half ago

The Narada (Star Trek 2009) vs the Executor (Star Wars Original Trilogy)

In the Star Trek alternate Kelvin timeline from the 2009 film, a Romulan mining ship called the Narada from the Prime timeline's future accidentally went back in time through a black hole. Due to advances in technology from its timeline, the Narada was practically unopposed by Federation ships despite being a civilian ship.

Instead of going back in time within the Milky Way and combating the Federation, the black hole ends up sending the Narada a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Here it exits the singularity near the infamous flagship of Imperial Sith Lord Darth Vader, the super star destroyer Executor, as it conducts its search for the Millennium Falcon. Assuming no other Imperial ships are nearby and the Executor cannot call for reinforcement from the rest of Death Squadron, which of these two massive juggernauts would come out on top in an all out brawl?

I’d really like that mode back where parties are not allowed and it’s only solo players

I feel like a good 50 percent of my games are filled with people who are squadded up, oftentimes with it being a five or four stack, and those games are always so much more sweaty to play especially coming from a solo player. Please give me an option to play a mode where I don’t need to deal with a team full of PM level 1000s

This is the first and only time I’ve ever had COD completely bug on me while installing an update Series X

First I install the 40 gig ACTUAL mid season update. I try to load the game, and it sends me back to the queue and says COD needs an update. Come to find this actually means COD needs to full reinstall it’s nearly 200 fucking gigabytes of storage, before that finally finishes and it wants me to install the MIDSEASON again. Fix your fucking game Activision this is absurd
