Question about sound system

Hey PCMR -

i have a desktop and use headphones with mic.

I notice that everytime I have a movie in the background and play a game that has the ability to use mic chat; there's a change in the pitch of the movie i'm playing in the background.

Moving away from a mic-related map or closing the game switches it back to original sound.

What's happening and how do I make it stop?
