Best shawarma?

Last post on this was 1+ year ago. Recently returned from Ottawa and their shawarma lived up to expectations.

I’ve had from the below and I’d say they’re bang average.

- Zamzam
- Donair Dude
- Sureen Persian (not shawarma, but kebab. And it was super bland)

Save my Saturday. Thanks 🌯

Giant Propel Advanced 1

Based in Canada. Looking at the propel advanced 1 in meteor storm (https://www.giant-bicycles.com/ca/propel-advanced-1-2027) and considering pulling the trigger this weekend.

I’ve only had giant mountain bike and it’s great. Curious peoples experiences with propel models? Bike shop (who didn’t stock giant) said that they’ve lacked on innovation.

Also had my eye on the new felt nexar race 105 which design wise is completely different.

Cheers

12 months on allo - Just completed my first full Ironman

I posted here just over a year ago looking for advice from other athletes as I was considering taking allo. The stigma of taking meds, especially being fit and healthy played on my mind and I was close to not doing it. That said, I’ve had goals of completing a full ironman while also enjoying life.

I’m 34, enjoy life (beers with the lads) but I’d had flare ups for a few years (once or twice a year, sometimes 3 times) and they’d come at times that would get me down the most (peak of training or post race). I’d done a few half Ironmans and getting a flare up the day after a race through drinking 2 caronas and having McDonalds (obviously I was massively dehydrated) but that led me to bloods and ultimately accepting its genetic.

I’m 12+ months on a low dosage (100 a day) and has no flare ups and just completed Ironman Ottawa in just over 12 hours.

I wanted to share for any others considering and who may need a little bit of inspo because I know how much this sh*t can get you down.

AC installation question

Hi all - my strata allows AC installation and I’m curious if anyone has and an AC unit installed recently? If so, what does pricing + instillation come to roughly? My place is a 2 bed 830sq ft (west facing 🥵). Thanks

Staff Engineers looking to relocate to Canada from US?

If you’re a staff engineer experienced with distributed systems, large scale production work and Ruby on Rails or React Native interested in life in Canada, dm me with a bit about yourself and LinkedIn URL if you have one.

My company is a profitable SaaS business with a lot of meaty technical problems and challenges. We’re building the leading healthcare practice management software for small businesses.

Big bonus if you’ve worked in SMB space.

Neighbours, trash and food waste.

I moved into my apartment building about 8 months ago in the Gilmore area there’s been consistent problem with litter/food waste in the same spot outside our building. It’s mainly the same fruit wrappers, Starbucks cups and other crap coming from a balcony or someone’s window.

Strata are aware which unit this is as are a bunch of residents but nothing has ever been done about it as there’s no concrete evidence. Luckily for me, that unit is above mine…

Anyway, on Saturday about 3am some sort of food fat started dripping through our bedroom window and woke us up. We thought it was rain or something at first. It was vile, stunk and has stained our blinds and made a mess.

Their bedroom window is directly above our window. The above apartment exterior windowsill (below their window) is stained with a direct track to ours and the unit above theirs is untouched.

I’ve reported to strata and feel like it’s going to just get brushed off again, but we’ll see. The unit above said “they were spraying a huge swarm of wasps at 1am with Raid” …

Is strata the end of the line with dealing with situations like this? It seems crazy that this has actually been a problem for a couple of years with the same unit but nothing has happened.

Not sure why I’m taking to Reddit but I feel like I need to vent. It’s absolutely disgusting that they’re getting away with this.
