I seriously don't know what's stopping the MTA from doing this already. Everyone knows the Herald Merge is one of the worst in the system. Not only does it cause bottlenecking on Steroids but it slows everything down and cuts headways everywhere.

I propose sending the N via the 63rd Street tunnel with the M and going to Forest Hills. The R as normal in Manhattan then going to Astoria. Instead of running a duplicate W train, we can just replace it with more R trains since it will now be a single "noninterlined" line.

• Bay Ridge, Astoria and 4th Ave riders will see a huge boost in speed and headways.
• No more delays on Broadway Lcl (R trains must wait for W trains to clear the tracks at Whitehall)
• No more Herald Merge. The lines run a complete separation. The only bottleneck now lies at Lex-63rd, which isn't as bad.
• Roosevelt Island and Queensbridge gets two train lines
• The N/Q lines will run a true "efficient" express, not the sh!tshow we see after 34th Street where all the "time saved" going express becomes voided by bottleneck delays.

"tHe R lOsEs a YaRd".... the W starts in MANHATTAN and has trains run all the way from CI Yard to feed the line. Same with the G from Coney Island and/or Jamaica. I'm welcome to hear the opposition to such a proposal that has so many benefits..

I heard the bridge got razed due to sustained damages from hurricane sandy but I'd love to be able to walk directly to the boardwalk without having to worry about Surd Ave traffic. It would tremendously split the post-fireworks crowd between two train stations instead of the huge crowds at Stillwell.
