How do you cope with a partner who cannot hold jobs?

Hi all,

My fiancé is Dx and has been medicated since he was maybe 8 years old. He recently switched to Adderall and I think it’s made a slight difference but I’m not sure. He started seeing a therapist but only went to 2 sessions and stopped.

I’ve been with him about 6 years now, and he’s crashed about 5 cars due to distracted driving and lost so many jobs I have lost count. He’s high-risk insurance and if he gets pulled over or gets into another accident he will lose his license. I know this because he had to go to court and plead to keep his license.

We’ve been held back so much financially. I don’t make enough money to hold us afloat when he loses jobs. Our savings is dwindled. Thankfully there’s been quick turnaround but I know eventually he will get fired. It’s not a matter of if, but when. He has an associates and is passionate about drafting. However, the same mistakes keep haunting him at every job. Attention to detail, communication, executive function, time management, etc. He got fired again today and he only lasted 3 months. The most he’s lasted at a job is 2 years. That job, it was a company layoff so not his fault. But since then, he cannot hold down anything.

I’ve told him in the past that drafting and your skillset don’t align. He needs something different. And only after losing his damn job AGAIN, he finally realized I was right and is looking into another career. In the past, he claimed I was being unsupportive and hateful for even suggesting to switch careers. But now that he’s finally learned his lesson the hard way, now he’s finally doing it.

I just don’t know what to do. Do I start looking for higher paying jobs? I have 1 year experience in my career, 2 degrees (soon to be 3 with bachelors) but I don’t know if I could even find one with the demanding requirements. Any and all suggestions will help. I don’t know how to be supportive. I don’t want to leave, and would not consider it. I love him so much but I’m at a loss for words. I have student debt, want to save for a house, 401k, etc. but I just don’t know if we can do it. My student loans start next year and everything just seems impossible.

When to consider hysterectomy?

Hi all,

I recently had endometriosis excision surgery and my surgeon says I might have mild adenomyosis. My posterior uterus was boggy (but not terribly boggy is what he said). My MRI also showed a 12mm anterior junctional zone, and while my MRI stated a normal uterus size, during surgery they reported my uterus was the size of a 7-week pregnancy. I’ve researched a bit on what the average size of a uterus should be but haven’t gotten straight answers. Overall, he basically said if I have it, it’s mild. He never really confirmed it.

I’ve done a bit of research on hysterectomies, and I’ve seen some conflicting information on cardiovascular risks. If I were to get one, let’s say, in the next 2 years (I’m 25 currently), and kept my ovaries, is there any sort of risk still? I’ve seen the best age to do it to reduce risk is 35 but I thought that was if you got ovaries removed. My ovaries function normally so I’m not sure about the risk factor. I’m sort of planning ahead because while the endo was excised fully and successfully, I’m worried I might need a hysterectomy since most of my pain is uterine-driven.

Also side note, with endometriosis, if I did ever need to take my ovaries out and start HRT, wouldn’t estrogen increase my risk of stroke, since endo usually causes high estrogen to begin with? So many questions.

Is my surgery gonna be postponed?

I’ve been having allergies for a week now, and tonight my voice got hoarse an hour ago. I used a netti pot so I’m guessing clearing my throat afterwards is what did it in. I really don’t want the surgery to get cancelled, it’s tomorrow. Did anyone else go into surgery having some mild allergies and get turned away? Other than the voice I’m feeling fine, I’d say 98% of my phlegm has gone away…

To those who don’t want kids, how are we protecting ourselves after surgery?

I’ve read that excision surgery can increase or improve fertility, and I’m having my excision soon. My body does not handle hormones, so my partner and I have only used condoms for years. So far, no scares. We also try to have sex on or around my
period. Unsure if I even ovulate though, tbh.

Unfortunately, we haven’t had sex in about a year because it’s extremely painful. In the chance pain improves after surgery and we can have sex again, what are the best non-hormonal ways to prevent pregnancy?

Why is my PT so obsessed with my caffeine intake??

I’ve been going to pelvic floor therapy for a few weeks now and I was told I should go caffeine free for 5 straight days so they can see how I do and “work with a baseline.” Not even DECAF. No tea. I’ve been an absolute monster and I’m exhausted and it’s been 2 days without caffeine. I’ve told time and time again caffeine isn’t really that big of a trigger for me. It does keep me up at night if I drink it late on the weekdays, so I’ve only started to drink coffee on weekends only. Doesn’t give me flares.

The stretches and breathing help way more with my bladder issues then going cold turkey off caffeine has. The longest I’ve gone without coffee is 4 days and I guess that’s just not good enough still. Smh.

My bladder is currently glued to my uterus. My anterior junctional zone is 12 mm. THAT is the biggest issue we have here. The psychological “just in case” pees has resolved (unless I’m approaching my period but even still it was not as bad as it used to be, and it was really really bad). So why am I having to go cold turkey? I understand I’m an adult and I can make my own decisions but I try really hard to follow guidance from professionals.

Anyone else have this frustrating experience? Should I just get my coffee anyway? I won’t be able to have caffeine for a good while after my surgery so I’d like to get my fixes in.

How did you differ between endo and adeno?

Hi all,

Getting DIE excision next month and had a couple of questions. Ever since my first period I have had vasovagal responses to my periods, having to miss work and school. It’s very heavy the first 1-2 days but lightens up kind of quickly day 3 and beyond. My newer symptoms as of 2 years now, my cycle is very irregular (33-50 day cycles), and it’s extremely clotty. I also have been very fatigued and struggle to walk during my periods now. Just can’t do anything but sleep and my abdomen feels so heavy. My pain is mostly concentrated as horrific cramps right above my pubic bone/in the middle of my belly. When I get my period it is never ending cramps until I puke, then they slowly go back to coming in waves. I will say, magnesium has greatly helped preventing the vasovagal response and cramps.

However, I’ve played around with the idea of a hysterectomy. I know this isn’t a cure for endo, but my MRI noticed 1.2 cm of thickening on my anterior junctional zone. But it was taken 3 days before my period so idk if it’s false adeno or not since the lining is supposed to thicken before a period. My symptoms definitely line up with adeno in my opinion, but as far as endo goes, I have bladder inflammation (my bladder is glued to my uterus) and occasionally sharp pains but it’s not constant like most people on here describe. No burning or sharp twisty pain. I do have a very hypertonic floor though, and guarded muscles.

Is it worth exploring a hysterectomy if my excision doesn’t eliminate the uterus symptoms? Do you guys know how to differentiate the symptoms, or do they often overlap? Did a hysterectomy fix anything for you guys in regards to endo pain?

Matthew 24:40 Question

Hi all!

I was pondering this verse for a while and wanted to know everyone’s interpretation of this. Many believe it to be reference to a rapture, but I do not believe this is biblical.

When Jesus comes back to Earth to establish his millennium kingdom, wouldn’t it make more sense for the believers to be left on Earth, and the wicked to be taken? Otherwise, why would we be taken from the Earth if He is going to reign? Wouldn’t that be counterintuitive to a heavenly reign on Earth, if the believers were taken away? I do believe Christians and non-Christians will go through tribulation. If Christians didn’t go through the tribulation and were raptured, the mark of the beast would be pointless. The Great Delusion that ensnares many believers into taking the mark (as well as non believers) wouldn’t make sense. It mentions that Christian’s will be persecuted for not taking the mark. The Bible also talks about those who endure to the end. Does that not clearly speak against a rapture?

To be caught up in the air, doesn’t that just mean we will be greeted and greet Jesus when he returns? I mean, let’s entertain the rapture for a minute. Would it not cause panic and fear even to those who are Christians?

Anyways, what’s you guys’ interpretation? Do you believe in the rapture? Why or why not?

Laparoscopy Questions

Hi all!

I finally got my laparoscopy surgery scheduled in about 2 months. My MRI detected deep infiltrating endometriosis, but obviously they don’t give you an official diagnosis until surgery. I had a couple of questions related to it:

  1. Will I need round the clock care the first day? My boyfriend started a new job recently and cannot take the day off, as he’s in a 3 month probationary period. We do have plans to have one of his parents or my dad take me to and from the hospital. Will I be able to go to the bathroom by myself (using a walker or something?), and be able to walk to get food from my kitchen?

  2. I will be having cavity fillings about a week from my surgery. Would this be okay to do before my surgery or should I reschedule to be safe?

  3. What foods can I tolerate after my surgery? And drinks?

  4. Are they able to tell if I have adenomyosis during the surgery? (I know it’s not 100 unless uterus is sent to pathology). My MRI said my JZ on my anterior was 12mm, which is borderline and they didn’t safe a definitive diagnosis. I know if they palpate the uterus during surgery they can see if it’s squishy or boggy. And sometimes they do a hysterscopy during as well, so I’m wondering I should ask about that during my pre-op.

  5. Did your periods come back with a vengeance? Should I expect my usual vasovagal responses during my periods and prepare for it, especially if they say I might have adeno?

  6. How likely do adhesions form after surgery? I’ve read that the more surgeries you get, the worse it can irritate the endo lesions. I already struggle with a tight pelvic floor and hyper nerve sensitivity so I’m worried it will make it worse.

  7. Is it possible for my MRI to not detect endometriomas or cysts on my ovaries? How likely is it that they cut me open and it’s worse than what the MRI said?

MRI results back, how likely is this adeno?

My results say this:

Junctional zone: There is borderline thickening of the junctional zone, best appreciated on the sagittal images which measures up to 1.2 cm (2/25).

It doesn’t sound severe but I’ve been debating a hysterectomy to just be done with periods all together. I do have confirmed deep infiltrating endometriosis and will be getting surgery for that.

Not sure if “borderline thickening” is enough to justify a hysterectomy. Not sure what to do. Any thoughts or anyone else have similar seemingly “mild” findings on their MRI?

Does my cat need cardiologist?

Hi all,

I had a visit at my old Banfield before I moved away back in December. Been seeing them for years and no issues, great staff. They’ve never mentioned or heard a heart murmur. Recently, I took my 6 year old cat to a Banfield near where I live now for an office visit about a month ago. They said she had a grade 2 heart murmur and needed dental cleaning, but recommended seeing a cardiologist first. I said that’s odd, she was just seen in December, no issues. They said well it can develop overtime, and she seemed very stressed. I said yes, she always has those symptoms at the vet, she drools and shakes and is absolutely terrified no matter how much I try to calm or sedate her with pet-safe melatonin.

I decided to schedule the dental cleaning anyway, thinking it was a fluke. Well they called and told me it’s a grade 3 heart murmur, and that we can try giving her a sedation shot to see if it goes away. I said fine let’s try that. They call me later and say it’s grade 4 now. What? Why the inconsistency? That’s suspicious, is it not, especially after giving a calming shot? I said whatever let me take her home I’ll just get a 2nd opinion elsewhere, since she’s never had issues before. She’s not in pain, her breathing is normal at home, she’s playful she’s cuddly she meows for attention, absolutely nothing abnormal. Just wanted to get ahead of her teeth but apparently now I can’t.

I’m thinking of driving an hour away back to my hometown to the old Banfield and get a 2nd opinion. Is that something I should do? I can’t afford a vet office visit that isn’t Banfield. And does anyone have similar stories with heart murmur consistencies? I’m not even sure if she has one but I wasn’t going to take the risk of anesthesia because these vets sounded completely incompetent.
