Help needed to prevent two older women from being homeless

I want to be completely transparent regarding verification because I understand why people are cautious online, especially with fundraising posts. These are two women I personally know, Lorrie Herman (68) and Lisa Stine (56), who recently lost their home and are currently staying in a hotel trying desperately not to become homeless.
Lorrie has severe COPD and has difficulty getting around. She uses a walker and sometimes a wheelchair because of her health problems. She receives around $856 a month in SSI, and with the hotel costing around $800 a month, it is almost impossible for them to keep up financially. Lisa recently had knee surgery and missed months of work, and now they are struggling just to survive day to day.
They are originally from Somerset, Kentucky, but the only hotel they could afford is in Monticello, Kentucky, about 30 minutes away from Lisa’s job. There is no Uber, public transportation, or bus system here, and because of transportation issues she has not even been able to consistently get back and forth to work.
They are also desperately trying not to lose their cat Willow during all of this because Willow is one of the only comforts they have left right now.
The reason the women themselves are not posting on Reddit is because they are older ladies who do not really use technology much and honestly did not even know what Reddit was until I explained it and got their permission to post for them. They do not have high-tech phones and are not familiar with how any of this works.
I also want to explain the verification situation. They currently live a significant distance away from me and unfortunately I’m unable to physically go there for a verification photo together because I work 40 hours a week, attend school full-time, and also do cat rescue full-time outside of work. However, I did include:
my verification photo with my Reddit username/date
photos of the women
screenshots of our text conversations
proof of the hotel situation
In the screenshots, the green messages are from me and the white bubbles are from Lisa and Lorrie. When you see the name Willow, that is their cat they are desperately trying not to lose during all of this. When the name Jessica is mentioned, that is Jessica with Help the Homeless in Somerset, Kentucky.
I completely understand people being cautious and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this. Even advice, resources, shares, or kind words mean a lot right now. If anyone is willing to help these women avoid homelessness, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Just a happy photo

Just a picture of two of my cats I thought it was so cute. If you see the little tiny head underneath the table, that’s my foster fail… when I brought her home my intention was to get her healthy because she was a sick little baby and find a wonderful home for her.. but fortunately for me, she melted my heart and she now lives with me and my five other cats.

just wanted to come on here and say thank you… like genuinely, from the bottom of my heart.
I posted asking for help with cat food and supplies, not really knowing what to expect, and you all showed up in a way that honestly overwhelmed me (in the best way). Packages started arriving, and every single one felt like a little reminder that people really do care — not just about me, but about these cats too.
Because of you, I’m able to keep feeding them, keep them comfortable, and keep doing what I can to help them stay safe and cared for. That might not sound huge to some people, but out here, it makes all the difference.
I’ve attached some pictures of everything that’s come in so far. Please know none of it is taken for granted. Every bag of food, every can, every little supply — it all matters more than you probably realize.
Thank you for trusting me, thank you for helping the cats, and thank you for being kind. Seriously.

Right now, I’m actively doing cat rescue work in Somerset, Kentucky, and kitten season has hit harder than anything I’ve ever seen. Abandoned litters, injured strays, cats attacked by wildlife, and constant emergency situations have completely overwhelmed local resources—because there basically aren’t any.

I work full-time and fund most of this rescue work out of pocket while we work toward becoming a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Every month I transport 10–12 cats for TNR (spay/neuter/vaccines), care for fosters, and respond to urgent calls for abandoned or sick cats. I’m currently feeding 20–30 colony and stray cats consistently, plus caring for 2 fosters and my own 4 cats.

To keep everything going, I’ve put together a wishlist of supplies that are used constantly:

Canned/wet food (highest priority)

Dry food

Cat litter (we go through an extreme amount with kittens + fosters)

Basic care and rescue supplies

Everything on the list goes directly to cats in need—fosters, colony cats, and emergency rescues. Nothing is wasted, and everything gets used immediately.

I also help local pet owners who are struggling and can’t afford food or vet care, because the need here is that widespread right now.

If you’re able to help, even one small item makes a real difference. If not, sharing this post or leaving encouragement still helps more than you know.

Somerset has very limited support for animal rescue, which is why I’m trying to build something sustainable here—but right now, we’re just trying to keep up with the crisis in front of us.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring about these cats. 🐾
