[OC] [ART] Xerribex, Demonborn Planar Sentinel Ranger – by Catilus

A fearsome demonborn ranger who now fights to protect the world of mortals in our campaigns in Theomachy! Xerribex is wielding the Reaver, a D&D item I made!

Character: Xerribex, Demonborn Planar Sentinel Ranger

Born in Maleficum, the dimension of demonic magic, Xerribex is a powerful ranger who walks the fine line between dimensions, protecting her fiery home and all that is precious to her. Xerribex was destined to be a ruthless champion, punishing the agents of the warring gods as well as innocent mortals indiscriminately.

However, after meeting Sir Delric Thorson, a theomachist paladin who had been enslaved in Maleficum, she began to wonder about morality. She claimed Sir Thorson as her personal slave, seeking to prove him naïve. But during their travels together, the good paladin was able to show her the value of mortal life, making her realize that the true threat to Maleficum, and the entire creation, is the war between the gods.

Now, Xerribex uses her unique heritage to freely travel between demonic dimensions and fight the warring gods who threaten to undo creation itself in their mad bid for supremacy.

About the Theomachy setting:

In Theomachy, vengeful gods fight each other for ultimate control of the universe, while the mortals of Naam struggle for power on a dying world. Divine magic is a force without expressed will that the warring gods hoard and wield against each other, threatening to undo the entire world. Clerics and paladins are either devout followers of the warring gods or theomachists who fight against the gods, liberating divine magic and using it against them.

[OC] [ART] Blade the Rogue – by Catilus

A rogue with a noble goal that I sketched!

Blade and Silverstar form an unlikely partnership. Silverstar is a prince who has lost his memory, while Blade is a bandit searching for a second chance.

Blade believes that helping Silverstar reclaim his path may also give him a chance to change his own. However, his old habits remain, and his tendency toward theft and deception creates tension between them, complicating their growing bond.

[OC] [ART] Huata of the Waves, Druid of the Sea – by Catilus

A determined druid from our campaigns in the Theomachy setting!

Character: Huata of the Waves, Druid of the Sea

Born inside her father’s double-hulled voyaging canoe during her tribe’s sea exodus from a volcanic eruption, Huata always felt a strong connection to the sea.

When Temahua, the ancient volcano, woke up after an epoch of slumber, Huata’s people had to migrate east and carve a new life on strange islands where Temahua’s anger did not choke the sky in smoke and rain cinders on the sea. Yet Huata always yearned to sail back to Lakuu, the ancestral island she never knew.

As a young woman, she learned to use the stars to navigate the countless islands of Draconesia, hoping one day to sail under the shadow of Temahua’s smoke and see the island her people had left behind.

As soon as she reached adulthood and was entrusted with precious tools, she repaired and maintained her late father’s double-hulled canoe in secret and bid her time. On the morning of the annual courtship dance instead of donning a garland of fresh flowers, she dragged her father’s canoe back to the sea and sailed west, despite her elders’ wishes.

For days she sailed towards Temahua’s endless pillar of smoke, weathering storms and battling her own loneliness. Yet one day, the sea spoke to her, and she was alone no more. At first, she feared the angry volcano had struck her with madness, but as the days passed by and she was about to sail under the shadow of Temahua’s smoke, the spirits of the sea showed her how to harness the magic of nature to make the wood of canoe sprout flowers that bore fruit overnight, and how to whisper to the spirits of the wind to persuade them to keep her sails full and the air around her clean. She realized this was the fabled magic of the ancients, the same magic that once brought life to barren islands, so she knew what she had to do.

An entire week she saw no stars at night, and the sun’s rays were only a faint glow behind Temahua’s smoke as she sailed towards Lakuu, the island of her ancestors. When she finally stepped on Lakuu, she had to trudge through knee-deep soot and cinders to reach the ancient stone circle in the island’s center. There, she whispered to the spirits, begging them to heal the island and bring new life under Temahua’s volcanic ash. To her surprise, it was Temahua himself who answered back, offended that a mere human dared bargain with the spirits of nature, but also pleased that the mortals had once again learned to commune with nature. Temahua told her of his bottomless anger towards evil and insidious beings that dreamt of being gods and threatened to destroy the world in a mad bid for supremacy, and she told him of her people, their customs, and their dreams that he had turned to nightmares when he erupted.

Huata and Temahua spoke for an entire day and an entire night. He tried to scare her back to her people, and she tried to placate him. At the break of dawn, Temahua commanded her to go forth and oppose those who had originally offended the natural order, the evil and deviant pretender gods, the usurpers of life and magic. Huata agreed, pledging her life to restoring balance, or at least stopping the usurpers from tearing the world asunder. Pleased, Temahua transformed his elemental fury to magic for Huata’s people and slept once again, knowing that if more mortals were like Huata of the Waves, when he woke up again in the next epoch, the world would still be there…

[OC] [ART] Deren Dermon – by Catilus

A quietly dangerous character that I sketched!

Deren Dermon is one of many members of the Dermon family. Unlike the others, he is quiet and reserved, often overlooked at first glance.

However, his silence hides a dangerous edge, making him just as deadly as the rest of his bloodline.

[OC] [ART] Fire-Wielding Giant – by Catilus

Fire-Wielding Giant, a mighty entity with a fiery weapon I sketched!

Deep within the underground regions of Solaris exist powerful creatures capable of wielding mystical weapons.

This fire-wielding giant is one example of how even non-human entities can harness ancient power. These beings are not simply monsters, but part of the world’s evolving balance of strength, capable of becoming threats or forces of nature depending on who encounters them.

[OC] [ART] MERMAIDIFIED: Nadine Fournier, Half-Elf, Half-Angel Divine Sorceress and Baker – by Catilus

Nadine reimagined as a playful mermaid! What exotic delicacies will she cook under the sea?

Character: Nadine Fournier, Half-Elf, Half-Angel Divine Sorceress and Baker, Mermaidified

Nadine is a half-elf divine sorceress whose command of the Eternal Light comes from her forbidden lineage as the illegitimate daughter of an angel and an elf paladin who broke his oath of chastity.

To save her from divine wrath, Nadine’s celestial mother hid her in the rural village of Erzy deep into the mainland of the kingdom of Montbonnet, where she grew up bullied as “ears” and the “illegitimate” for her unusual appearance and particularly her pointed ears. She knew she could just wish the wounds inflicted upon her by the local bullies to close but chose to keep her magic hidden in fear of being accused of witchcraft.

Wandering into the ancient forest of Vertombre after her work in the bakery was done for the day, she became friends with the last remaining wood elf of the forest, Grannie Lorywen, and her half-elven great-grandson, Felynur Greenshade.

As Nadine grew up, her former bullies became her admirers and would-be suitors, but she just smiled and ignored their advances before venturing into the ancient forest each evening. For Nadine, life became good for a while.

Then disaster struck the kingdom.

Overconfident, the new king of Montbonnet had broken ancient pacts and thus defied the will of the warring gods. Odon, the god of eternal life, cursed the kingdom with his plague, the Pale Death, while Gorg, the brutal god of war, inflicted maddening bloodlust to mortals who would open their hearts to senseless violence.

As Erzy struggled with the Pale Death, Gorg’s bloodlust drove hunters from the nearby village of Vitz to attack. Amidst the chaos, Nadine became separated from Felynur and finally decided to unleash her magic to protect the few remaining villagers.

A few days later, theomachist clerics who oppose the gods and musketeers under the king’s service arrived at the ruins of Erzy to restore order and evacuate the survivors. Among the musketeers, Nadine found an unlikely ally in Mousquetaire Magique Eremon Lenoir, a magic musketeer trained in the arcane arts, who was seeking a way to protect the kingdom from divine wrath. With the help of Nadine, Eremon Lenoir began to uncover a web of conspiracies, corruption, and divine malice that threatened to destroy the kingdom. He sought to protect her from these evils, but bravely, she decided to reveal her hidden powers to him and use her magic to protect the kingdom and heal its people. Now, they travel together, more than friends, opposing hidden evils while baking some of the most delicious pastries in the kingdom!

Nadine is one of my own characters in Theomachy!

[OC] [ART] Shadya the Black Lotus, Demon-Elf Bard of Whispers, Dancing – by Catilus

Shadya dancing delightfully as she tries to win over key figures who could become strong allies to the escaped demon-elf rebels of Khemhotep.

Character: Shadya the Black Lotus, Demon-Elf Bard of Whispers

Born an elf and trained as an entertainer, Shadya was at one point the courtesan of Prince Ankhator, the royal heir of the legendary elven kingdom of Khemhotep. When Khemhotep descended whole to the deepest hell, Pandemonium, as part of a mad scheme to defeat the vengeful gods of Naam and dominate the multiverse, Shadya was one of the first to undergo the painful transformation to become a demon-elf of Khemhotep, forcefully exchanging her elven nature for fiendish power.

Crafty and ambitious, Shadya used her skills to escape the hellish oppression of Khemhotep and the demonic fires of Pandemonium, returning to Naam under disguise. Now, she is plotting and scheming to regain her place in a world that has forgotten elves and despises demons.

Shadya is one of my own characters in Theomachy! You may recognize her from lots of other sketches, illustrations, and homebrew!

OC] [ART] Zephyr Sword

Zephyr Sword, a mighty weapon with a hidden past!

Zephyr is Silverstar’s weapon of choice, gifted to him by Mia, a princess from a neighboring city.

Its true origin, however, remains unknown to him. The weapon was actually created by Lucius and forged during a battle against a demi-god Chosen who was a close ally of Silverstar’s grandfather.

This hidden history ties Zephyr to a much larger legacy than Silverstar realizes.

[OC] [ART] Raz and Talmi by the Campfire – by Catilus

Raz cooking for Talmi in a campfire after a long day of adventuring!

Raz the Silver Owl, Half-Elf Wandering Healer-Monk

Raised by “Bighand” Bor, a rough but kind-hearted orc, Raz grew up on the road, helping the common folk and training to become a wandering healer-monk like his intimidating orc mentor.

Though Bor constantly warned Raz against reckless heroism and senseless violence, Raz eventually discovered that his mentor spent much of his private time brawling monsters, challenging criminals, defying nobles, risking his life to protect strangers, and sometimes indulging in violence simply for the thrill of it. Inspired by Bor and determined to surpass him, Raz grew up into a brave and optimistic, yet impulsive and reckless, adventurer.

Raz had to abruptly part ways with Bor before completing his training after the two rescued kidnapped children from a cruel circus. Working as a wandering healer under the nickname the Silver Owl, Raz unexpectedly became the hero of a wildly popular stage play called The Graveyard Dance after saving a theatrical troupe from an undead horror.

Now Raz travels much like Bor once did while enjoying his reputation as a folk hero. However, beneath his seemingly unshakable confidence and witty humor, Raz still doubts his own abilities and fears that Bor might have met a terrible fate.

Talmiravanya “Talmi”, Moon Elf Druid and Astromancer

Raised by the elderly moon elf astromancer Darnayan away from the bustle of organized settlements, Talmiravanya grew up studying ancient magic and searching for cryptic patterns in the stars that are said to foretell the fate of the world.

For decades, Talmi met only a handful of her elusive kind and no short-lived mortal as she searched the skies for meaning and observed distant lands through giant-made devices of foresight and divination.

Though Darnayan rarely spoke openly about her visions to avoid influencing Talmiravanya’s own insights, she finally revealed one final prophecy to her sole pupil upon her deathbed. Darnayan foresaw a great challenge that would soon threaten the world. The nature of this challenge was unknown to the old astromancer, but she saw that beyond it, an age of prosperity unlike anything that has come before would await those who survived.

Moved by her late mentor’s insights but still uncertain, Talmi spent more than two decades alone in a ruined observatory made by giants of old, searching for signs that would either prove or disprove Darnayan’s prophecy. Then one morning, just before the break of dawn, she found her own truth written across celestial bodies. She saw that the ancient god of knowledge was still alive and would one day return to usher in the golden age Darnayan had foreseen.

Convinced that the time to act had come, Talmi left her life of seclusion behind and journeyed to the settlements of mortals and the gleaming cities of elves to share her revelations. However, after a lifetime of isolation, she discovered that the modern world is far stranger than the one her late mentor had described, and that most of the other elves have either gone into hiding or have simply vanished.

[OC] [ART] Joltin Forest – by Catilus

Joltin Forest, a mystical forest I sketched!

Joltin Forest is a magical region that serves as a powerful source of energy for magic users. Its power originates from Joltin, a Chosen whose influence still lingers.

Even though only one Chosen can exist at a time, the forest continues to thrive despite Joltin’s disappearance. This suggests that the power left behind is either self-sustaining or waiting for something to return.

[OC] [ART] Xerastra, Half-Dragon Bard – by Catilus

Xerastra dancing at an ancient site of power. She’s a character from our games in Theomachy!

Character: Xerastra, Half-Dragon Bard

As a rare half-dragon, Xerastra can experience the beauty of life as a mortal through the eyes of someone with a draconic perspective. Cheerful and fun-loving, she respects the insight of her blue dragon relatives while also understanding the wisdom of short-lived mortals.

Xerastra’s draconic nature is strong from her father’s side, but it only adds to her otherworldly elven beauty from her mother’s side. As a deeply magical bard, she laces her exotic dances with dragon magic and takes great pride in refining and perfecting her art.

Unafraid to flaunt her beauty and her skill, she travels far and wide, often bridging the gap between dragons and mortals with kind words and spectacular performances.
