Fakers never mention bipolar?
Hello, I am someone who’s been diagnosed with a youth diagnosis of bipolar and a proper bipolar diagnosis’s since 15. It runs in my family through my female line. I have noticed that did fakers, as well as disorder fakers NEVER have any of the “non-quirky” disorders. Maybe depression or anxiety at the worst but never type 1 (manic dominant) bipolar disorder. Manic bipolar can last for months if untreated and can lead to severe delusion.
I went untreated properly at 14 in the in between stages of my full diagnosis and was on an improper
Medication leading me to believe I was slowly losing the right side of my body to tremors. Guess what? It went away once I was treated and on proper medication. I feel like at most these fakers are in a delusional state for some sort of manic or delusional state, and at the least just trying to be unique (ex: everyone faking depression in the late 2010s/early 2020s. While many of these people have kept it up for a number of years it doesn’t change the fact that many of the behaviour associated with obsessive interest in certain topics + an overactive imagination as well as the general loneliness epidemic associated with the sort of people who exhibit this behaviour. Now I have recently done some thinking on this, but I bet a lot of these people are surrounded by others with similar delusions, like their discord buddies or similarly mentally ill people in school. I have noticed that these sorts of people attract each other, date within the groups, and generally overreact to situations (cutting off friends over YouTube drama or simple mistakes).
While this is all personal experience, since I have left high school and started to think about the queer community within my school, which allowed openly queer behaviour, being a very diverse WELL funded school (whites only made up 35% of the school population and it was evenly distributed along all major racial groups). I have noticed now many of the kids all magically had: ocd, depression, autism, even ptsd and they all magically had abusive parents for reasons unrelated to sexuality or gender. but never any weird disorders, never bipolar, bpd, schizophrenia. Now I know 1 in 4 people of divergent sexuality or gender have some sort of mental disorder but they all had it and even self diagnosed (ex: I’m pretty sure I have autism but my parents refuse to get me diagnosed) pretty weird things for 1/100 disorder happens to affect 70-80% of the queer community at my school.
Anyway back to did, did fakers were about 12 strong and all friends with each other, dated within the groups, and were always friends with everyone but only ever switched publicly and constantly told classmates to the point of being accused of delusion. Once I asked one of my football friends what they thought of my ex-bestie, and they told me they were delusional and weird. Now I know did is a big part of someone life, but everyone knowing is very weird.
Anyway I feel like many of these people are only disordered for the character and have little consideration how it affects them socially, while I appreciate the position they held in my life, these people were never in my schools sp-ed program and didn’t even know it existed….
I can answer questions in the comments but I feel like my schools environment encouraged this behaviour. I’m openly a lesbian, a weirdo, and dress against the norm. I was friends with all the popular kids and went to parties… but that being said these people PURPOSELY excluded and ostracized themselves from others and made themselves weird. I was “accused” of being autistic in sophomore year and turns out my distant friends told others about me being in the sp-ed program and it reached others. I saw no point in denying it but being publicly out as a disordered person actively harms your opportunities socially and I feel like many of these people don’t understand that… anyway that’s my thoughts, feel free to discuss in the comments as I understand my position is very unique, socio-economically and schooling wise. (Btw the queer community of my school was incredibly diverse, akin to a Netflix cast but did people were all white but one.)
