I finally customized my conky ..after a month of installing mx 🤧. It took a while but it looks good doesn't it
Wanted to make the panel round but it gets applied to both the panels.. well it still looks pretty.
How do I customize the clock and monitor on the right side?
I changed the icon for the terminal but when I click on it it opens a new instance on the panel why does this happen? I also made my default directory to be desktop but it opens to user.
I wanted to add borders to the panel but apparently the border also gets applied to other apps on the panel..
Distro: Mx linux 25
I dual booted today and I noticed that my ram usage was 50% even though my distro is really lightweight (mx linux) then I realised it was due to firefox.. as soon as I closed it the usage went down to 25%.. what are some good light alternatives.
I dual booted today and why is my memory usage so high when I'm using Firefox
And as soon as I closed it it went below 25%? I thought firefox was a lighter browser?
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run: powercfg /h off (Disables Hibernation & Fast Startup).
Ensure BitLocker is off or you have your recovery key.
Disable Secure Boot in BIOS (use the key method or Windows Recovery method discussed earlier).
Open Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc).
Right-click C: > Shrink Volume.
Enter 104858 MB (approx. 100GB for Linux) + 8192 MB (8GB for Swap) = 113050 MB total to shrink.
Click Shrink. You will now see ~110GB of Unallocated Space.
Download Foxclone and create a bootable USB.
Connect an external hard drive.
Boot from the Foxclone USB.
Select Create Image, choose your D and E partitions (verify by size!), and save the image to the external drive.
Alternative: Simply copy-paste critical files from D and E to the external drive if you prefer speed over a full partition image.
Phase 2: Installation (MX Linux Live USB)
Insert your MX Linux XFCE systeminit USB and boot.
Double-click the Install MX Linux icon.
Select Custom install on existing partitions.
Click Run the partition tool (GParted).
In the Unallocated Space:
Create Partition 1: Size 8192 MB, File system linux-swap (Label: swap).
Create Partition 2: Size Remaining space (~100GB), File system ext4, Mount point / (Label: root).
CRITICAL: Locate your existing EFI System Partition (usually /dev/sda1, FAT32, ~100-500MB). Select it, click Edit, ensure Mount point is /boot/efi, and DO NOT CHECK FORMAT.
Close GParted.
In the installer, ensure Install GRUB is checked.
Select Install GRUB to ESP (EFI System Partition).
Confirm the bootloader location is your main drive (e.g., /dev/sda).
Complete the installation (username, timezone, etc.) and reboot.
Phase 3: Post-Installation
You should see the GRUB menu with options for MX Linux and Windows Boot Manager.
Boot into MX Linux, open the file manager, and ensure you can access/mount your D and E partitions (they should appear in the sidebar).
Open Terminal.
Install tools: sudo apt update && sudo apt install git build-essential vim zed-editor (Note: Zed may require adding a specific repo or downloading the AppImage if not in default repos; if unavailable, stick to Vim or Neovim).
Configure Git: git config --global user.name "Your Name" and git config --global user.email "your@email.com".
Final Tip: Keep your MX Live USB and Foxclone USB safe. If Windows updates ever hide the GRUB menu, boot from the MX USB, run MX Boot Repair, and click "Reinstall GRUB" to fix it instantly.

Specs - lenovo IdeaPad 320 i3-6006U 4gb ram 1 tb hdd.
I have selected mx linux after trying out other lightweight distros . Should I dual boot it. I can't wipe the windows partition cuz it's my dad's laptop which he also uses. I can't buy new hardware. I need it for coding and projects but windows it really fking slow🙆😵..
Like it takes me 5-10 mins to just open vscode. I already ran chris titus winutil tool it was useful it did become faster (just a tiny bit)... So I don't see any other options so pls tell me if I'm doing something stupid..

I decided on mx linux after trying out other lightweight distros. Should I dual boot it.
I'm going to use it for college work and projects mostly like coding and basic cybersecurity (htb boxes n stuff) I used to use live kali but it wouldn't really store what I've done and virtualbox lagged a lot..I tried wsl but it wasn't that good either...
I can't buy new hardware and I can't delete my windows partition because it's my father's pc. 🙂
What's the difference and what will guarantee a job looking at the current market. It all costs the same around 35-39k. It's from a tier 3 clg. I'm interested in coding and web dev and game dev I'm practicing frontend and learning js rn.

Hi. 21yr old Pcb guy switching from neet to bca.For context-https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianAcademia/s/Nc242jVj2W
Should I do normal bca or an online bca?
I've always had interest in web dev and cybersec but had to keep it aside because of neet. Now that neet is out of the picture I want to focus on these. Out of these 2 which should I focus now during my clg or are they both oversaturated now? Do they give a stable job and good money?
Now I know it's hard to get tech job in present times but I want to be financially independent after clg so should I focus on these or some other skills? What's the trend rn? Or Should I do some certification courses while doing bca?
Or do I have no hope and am stuck till I do my mca?
I feel so lost and hopeless man....
Myquals I'm 21M gonna be 22 in a few months. I took a 3 year gap after 12th for neet. Scored \~83% in 12th.
I asked some guys on what I shld do now and all the answers were to do bca (For context-https://www.reddit.com/r/Indian\_Academia/s/MfCSm0Up78)
Now I need some good colleges in Chennai or somewhere nearby for bca (I'm from north but have done all my schooling here in chennai so I know tamil and i can speak malayalam fluently too) not that the language matters but I just thought I should mention it anyway.

Hi, 21M(gonna be 22 in a few months) i come from a middle class family and I'm a single child. .myquals: I gave my 12th in 2023 scored around 83%, then took a drop for neet. First drop (2024)toh "arre neet exam hi toh hai yaar aram se ho jayega ek saal bacha haii" sochte sochte jan kab aaya pata bhi nahi chala. I scored 80 marks. Then took a second drop(2025) tried to be serious this time but wanted to do everything "perfectly". Again scored less than 200. Third drop(2026) everything was going fine till Jan.. uske baad sab ulta hogaya. I checked with the answer key and I'm scoring 300! nobody else is to blame for such shitty marks other than myself.
Lekin ab thak gaya hu yaar. I feel so stupid. Abhi lagta hai ki uss time overthink karke apne hi dimag ki band na bajata toh shayad ho jata.
My parents still want me to do it agn yk.( They have been very supportive during my prep. )Lekin ab bhi my father wants ki mai neet wapas likhu and that sounded more like a curse yk.agar aise hi hoga toh wapas se kuch excuse ban jayega ki koi na iss bar nahi agli baar. I don't want that nahi hoga merese ab .
I need some life and career advice on what to do now**(something completely unrelated to medicine or bio pls). My father wants me to join IGNOU and take a partial drop for neet and ssc. My mother wants me to join an actual college but my father is against it. So I'm stuck. So my options are:**
1.Do what my father or mother says
2.prepare for ssc chsl 2026 which is in like 3-4 months and hope to get a job so I don't be a burden
**So I'm confused**
**4. AP sabke advice me se kuch.**
**Plss help yaar . Mai sahi pagal hora hu.**
