New Minn Kota TERROVA!

New Minn Kota TERROVA!

Sold my boat along with the Powerdrive that I was using on this fine Kayak. Decided to treat myself and picked up this sweet used Terrova with all the bells and whistles.

Is the spot lock really as wonderful as they say? Pumped to take it out this weekend!

Good used options for ice fishing/general riding

I live on the east side of Michigan and am generally pretty active in the winter with ice fishing and whatnot. Basically grew up riding up north and on the rivers when they froze over.

I’m looking to get back into the sport. Nothing fancy or super quick just a reliable workhorse and capable of carrying me and one other rider. I know my way around small engines and have a shop so I’d be doing most if not all maintenance and work on it.

I’ve been pretty vigilant on marketplace for a used sled I just want some input on what to keep my eyes out for.

First Fishing Kayak!

Have always wanted to get into kayak fishing and found a golden opportunity with a heavily discounted Lifetime Manta at Sam’s Club. Took it out a few times and was in love with the stability. So I began customizing it

May have gone a bit overboard with it but most of it was electronics from my old fishing boat. Still need to organize things but any suggestions from you guys?

Wanna keep this build not crazy pricy and if I love it I’ll roll this into a nicer kayak in the future.

Starting and running issues with Honda BF40A.

I have an early 2000s Carbed Honda bf40 that has seemed to be giving me issues at every moment.

Rebuilt the carbs, new jets, gaskets, fuel lines and filter. Lashed valves, new thermostat/cleaned cooling, all cylinders have 170psi.

It stumbles a bit at idle but runs decent enough once warmed up then just will refuse to start after warmed up.

Wiring harness issues

Good news: I finally have the “new” outboard mounted on my rebuilt transom!

Bad news is I’m currently struggling with the wiring harness that connects the remote controls to the outboard. The tilt/trim currently works just fine from the remote controls but no signal to anything else when I turn the key.

I have what seems to be the main connecting harness connected but have this extra plug on the engine side and I cannot for the life of me figure out where it goes. And same to the control side. Anyone with a Honda outboard have any pointers here? Feeling pretty dense rn

Mounting bracket is thicker than boat transom

Just redid my transom for a new boat motor and figured out the mounting bracket on the outboard is quite a bit thicker.

The transom is 1 1/2” thick.. what is the best practice to remedy this? A wood bracket on the outside of the boat transom as well?

Tracking down a electrical problem

Bought this Gravely ZT HD zero turn that runs and cuts like a beast! But has a very strange electrical issue. The hour meter never stops counting up, even when the mower is off with the key removed.

It’s evident that it’s been tampered with in the past as the oem harness connector has been replaced with spades. Have looked up some wiring diagrams but no luck.

Just curious if you guys may have any pointers or have dealt with an issue like this in the past.

New(to me!) Mower

First zero turn! It’s a Gravely ZT HD 52”. Picked up this sucker for $1000 yesterday after my 26 y/o craftsman finally gave out on me.

Has a small electrical related gremlin to track down but apart from that runs good! Going to take some time getting used to driving it.

Just curious if maintenance on these are any different from your typical rider? I plan on down a full filter/fluid service on the engine and hydrostatic before my first mow.

Solid mower for the price?

Had asked earlier about a few mowers but had another come up that has everything I’m looking for just seeing if the price is right.

It’s a 2013 Husqvarna YT42XLS, well taken care of. Talked him down from $1200 to $1050. Has a 23hp Kawasaki Engine and a welded 42” steel deck.

Would this last me a very long time with proper maintenance?

Deciding on a mower

My old 2000 Sears Craftsmn GT took a shit on me and now I’m looking for a “new” mower on marketplace.

I’ve done a bit of research and have been able to think of roughly what I want. Curious if either of these are any worth it.

The Cub Cadet has a Kawasaki FR651V and the Husky has a Briggs and Stratton.

Just looking for something comfortable to mow my 2 acres with basic maintenance

Trying to find the right epoxy/filler

Currently redoing the wood transom on my 1980s 16ft Smokercraft after noticing extensive water damage.

Upon inspecting the aluminum on the inside of the actual transom itself I noticed it has some minor pitting and 2 small drilled holes.

Currently in search of a good filler so I can smooth out the minor pitting and seal the drilled holes, create a watertight seal and apply paint over the bare aluminum surface to avoid this in the future.

Currently deciding between West Systems Six10, G/Flex 655, or Marine Tex. Open to any suggestions!

Possible Weight Issues With Repower?

Got a 1986 16’5 Smokercraft deep-v and a 1980s Evinrude 30hp on the back, this setup gets me where I need to go just fine on the big river but as anyone with an old 2 smoke knows they can be noisy, smelly, and very finicky at times.

Found a nice running early 2000s 4 stroke Honda 40hp on marketplace and would make a wonderful repower candidate. Just curious if I may run into any weight issues, the boat is technically rated for a 40hp and is well within its weight limits as well as the transom being rock solid.

I just wasn’t sure if the added 50ish lbs of outboard might be anything to worry about on a boat of this age and was curious if you folks may have similar experiences to share. Thanks!

Free outboard need help

Got this sweet late 80s Honda BF8A for free, currently torn down to the cylinder head with all parts included.

Owner got it in a trade, said it smoked while running, he tore it apart and never got to tinkering with it.

This isn’t my first outboard I’ve torn apart but my first 4 stroke, I’ve been lead to believe it’s likely a piston ring leaking but was curious if you guys have any input and possibly where I could go about finding a parts list to purchase parts for this outboard. Thanks!

Picked up a 2005 Arctic Cat 250 about a week back, wasn’t running right since it had an Amazon special carb. Have since fully rebuilt and put an oem carb back on it, the quad fires up and idles absolutely perfect now.

Issue now is once I put it in gear and give it some throttle it sputters/pops and feels like it’s really bogging especially on 1st gear. Otherwise runs fine, doesn’t feel like it’s gonna stall just real “sputtery”

I’ve heard possibly a fuel/air mix issue? Or maybe valve clearance? I did plan on relashing the valves when I get some more time.

Just got this 2005 Arctic Cat 250 running good and noticed I have a decent leak in the rear brake hose. It mists quite a bit every time I pull the brake lever.

I’m not too well versed in brake lines on atv’s. Can I get a decent aftermarket hose or should I go oem? Would any ordinary “rear brake hose” work or is it manufacturer specific? Any help would be much appreciated!

Got this genuine Keihin carb for my Arctic Cat 250 for cheap-er on eBay, real gummed up but functions perfectly apart from this one issue, previous owner had a garbage Amazon special carb on it and it ran like shit.

Ordered a Shindy rebuild kit and I have the other original plunger still mounted on the quad. Just need to get this damn thing out and will take any suggestions. Thanks!!
