Has anyone had Monzo Flex temporary chargeback credit taken back after investigation?

Has anyone here done a chargeback with Monzo Flex and got the temporary credit first? I’m just trying to understand how it usually works — like if the merchant disputes it, can Monzo take that money back later, or if you have strong evidence does it usually go in your favour? Just want to hear real experiences because I’m a bit stressed about mine.

Amazon delivered the wrong item and is refusing a £1,049 refund after I returned what they told me to return- I live in England

Title: Amazon sent me the wrong camera, then denied my £1,049 refund. Has anyone dealt with something like this?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice or hear from anyone who has experienced something similar with Amazon.

I ordered a Sony RX100 camera from Amazon for £1,049. However, when the parcel arrived, it did not contain the Sony camera I had ordered. Instead, it contained a completely different non-Sony camera.

As soon as I opened the parcel and realised the wrong item had been delivered, I contacted Amazon customer service straight away. I explained that I had received a different camera instead of the Sony RX100 I had purchased.

Amazon acknowledged my report and instructed me to return the item I had actually received. I followed their instructions exactly, packaged the camera securely, used the return process they provided, and sent it back. The tracking confirms that Amazon received the return.

After Amazon received the returned item, I was initially notified that my refund had been processed, so I believed the issue had been resolved.

However, sometime later I received an email from Amazon's Specialist Team stating that they were refusing my refund because I had returned the wrong item. They told me I needed to return the Sony RX100 camera in order to receive a refund.

The problem is that I never received the Sony RX100 camera in the first place. I cannot return an item that was never delivered to me.

I appealed the decision and explained everything again, but Amazon still refused to issue the refund.

I have evidence supporting everything I've said, including:

  • Photos of the camera that was actually delivered.
  • A video showing the item I received.
  • Amazon's emails instructing me to return that item.
  • Proof that I returned the item Amazon instructed me to send back.
  • Tracking confirming Amazon received the return.
  • The later emails from Amazon refusing my refund.

At this point, I've had to initiate a chargeback with my bank because £1,049 is a significant amount of money, and I genuinely don't know what else I can do.

Has anyone else experienced Amazon sending the wrong item and then later claiming you returned the wrong product?

  • Did Amazon eventually resolve it?
  • Was your appeal successful?
  • Did a chargeback work?
  • Is there anything else you would recommend I do while waiting for the bank's decision?

I'm honestly feeling incredibly stressed by this. I'm not trying to get something for free—I simply want the refund for an order where I never received the Sony camera I paid for. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

The problem is that I never received the Sony RX100 camera, so it's impossible for me to return it.

I appealed, explaining everything, but Amazon still refused the refund.

I have:

  • Amazon's emails instructing me to return that camera.
  • Proof that I returned it.
  • Tracking showing Amazon received the return.
  • The emails where Amazon later denied the refund.

I've now started a chargeback with my bank because £1,049 is a significant amount of money.

Has anyone dealt with a situation where Amazon sent the wrong item and then refused the refund anyway? Did your appeal or chargeback succeed? Any advice while I wait for the bank's decision would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
