DJI Avinox M2S failure at only 150 km, grinding noise then complete loss of assistance

Just wondering if any other DJI Avinox M2S owners have experienced anything similar to this.

My bike has only covered around 150 km from new.

Today, about two miles from home, the motor suddenly started making a fairly pronounced grinding/whirring noise and then completely lost assistance. I had to pedal the bike home manually.

The Avinox system and display still power up normally, but there is now no motor assistance at all.

The other concerning symptom is that if I gently roll the bike backwards, I can hear a definite mechanical grinding/gearing noise from the motor area. It sounds as though something mechanical inside the drive unit may have failed rather than it simply being an electrical issue.

There were no obvious symptoms beforehand and the bike has had very little use at only around 150 km.

I have stopped using the bike and have contacted the retailer to get it dealt with under warranty, so I am not planning on opening or investigating the motor myself.

Has anyone with an Avinox M2S experienced the same symptoms?

Avinox m2s

I'm in the market for a new eMTB and have narrowed it down to the Orbea Rise, Amflow PX, Megamo Reason Air and Specialized Levo R.

I was leaning towards an Avinox bike, but I've started seeing quite a few posts about the M2S motor developing a rattle after relatively low mileage.

Would it concern anyone looking at a new bike at the moment?

Rise SL M10 or Amflow PX for long trail rides

Went to my local bike shop to look at an Orbea Rise SL M10 after researching online, but they also had the new Amflow PX Carbon and now I can't decide after looking at the reviews of the Amflow.

Most of my riding is gravel, woodland singletrack and flowing trails. I do long rides and want assistance to go further, not to ride in Turbo all day or tackle crazy climbs. Currently good fitness from lots of road riding.

The Rise is tempting because I can get one for about £5.4k with XT Di2, Fox Factory and carbon wheels.

The Amflow PX has the Avinox motor and everyone seems to rave about it, but I'd probably spend 90% of my time in Eco or Trail mode to maximise range.

Is the Avinox really that much better in normal trail riding, or is the Rise just the better all round bike for this kind of riding.

Looking for around 20kg and a £5-6k budget, bigger battery if possible.

Had the 2025 edrive40 a couple of months, never really looked at the economy. Didn't realise how much charge gets put back in the battery, 12.7 kWh in 112 miles of driving.
