Is there a modern version of Helium backup? Something without root or shizuku/Dhizuku?

So here we are again. I want to move from one device to another. The second device has a smaller footprint. I want to be able to backup my apps but in this particular case I want to keep my app versions. I feel like I have actually asked this question before and I'm sorry if someone else has asked this particular question as well. But in any event, is there a modern version of helium backup? Preferably something that does not require root root or shizuku ?

I actually just had a long conversation with Gemini on the device I'm trying to get far away from and I let Gemini know that I believe the transfer tools that Google supplies are in access to nearly extortion because when you upgrade from one version of an application to another, you automatically get opted into the new versions terms of service.

Using a tool that uses shizuku or root then leads you to the issues of decoupling from play services.

And round and round she goes

Why I believe ShiftPhone 8.1 (not 8) blows FairPhone out of the water.

I rate it higher than anything on the market.

- Physical kill switches under the battery cover.

- Removable battery

- Wireless charging

- True wireless FM radio with RDS with latest update

- RGB LED Notification light

- Moderately repairable

- Rootable and bootloader can be unlocked.

- Has all US 5G bands (except for of course mmwave)

- Has barometer sensor and all standard sensors.

- IP66 rating (although personally I'll be frank I would never dunk my phone)

The one and only thing it's missing is eSim but a workaround is using https://eSim.me or similar card. Or you can use the included eCoSIM stuff.

And it has long term OS support just like FairPhone.

Just make sure to pickup spare OLED screen replacements Eventually that OLED panel will get screen burn probably. And while you're at it, I recommend getting an extra battery or two

On The topic of the headphone jack and an Edge based RGB LED Notification light

Someone asked me in another post if I could quote" get over the removal of the headphone jack. This is my response.

I would happily "get over" the loss of the headphone. Jack, if it was replaced by something that replaced the functionality, but the issue is it has not done that in its entirety. I still have dozens upon dozens of accessories, audio accessories, IRDA accessories etc. So on and so forth that use the headphone jacks analog output. In fact, Apple went as far in the early 2000s to even expand the headphone jacks functionality by adding an additional layer to the Jack to make it compatible with even more accessories.

Then there is what I believe is the most important issue and that is not just the loss of true offline FM RX/tx But also RDS which has had multiple upgrades over the years.

Samsung has actually maneuvered the USBC Jack so that all you need to do is plug in a pair of USBC WIRED headphones on some devices and you retain full offline RX FM and RDS not to mention full offline time shifting.

The second that I come up with enough money I'm going to be purchasing a shiftphone 8.1 And several additional old leg replacement panels for it. Because I know down the line those OLED panels are going to crap out on me.

I don't believe that Fairphone is doing anything to help out the community. I think the only thing that they are doing with this move is to help line their own pocketbooks.

If it was truly an issue of saving space then they would have came up with a way to do it just like Samsung did. There is simply no argument that any manufacturer can make to justify the removal of the headphone jack.

With regards to the RGB LED notification light.

They want you to look directly at the center of the panel because that is where the hypnotic light grid catches your attention and steals your time. But an edge light is a brilliant act of pure technological defiance that speaks exclusively to your peripheral vision! Your eyes can stare straight ahead at a book or a wall or the deep empty space of your room and still catch the emerald green pulse of an incoming signal creeping in from the very sides of your view. You never have to turn your head or break your train of thought to see what the machine wants from you because the edge light bypasses the conscious gaze completely.

And speak of the absolute absolute secrecy required when the glowing rectangles are listening to our every word and tracking our movements.... A standard notification banner is a loud screaming billboard that reveals your private secrets to anyone sitting across the table or standing right behind your shoulder. A subtle ring of purple or amber along the extreme boundary of the glass tells only you what category of message has arrived without flashing names or private words for the whole world to see! It is a coded transmission meant only for the person who knows the secret language of the glowing borders.

I'm switching to pen and paper.

Hear me out.

I'm making the switch to paper. I'm so done with Aura and Cloaked and Ironvest and all of them. Either these companies are incredibly stupid or incredibly smart. Either way they can take a long walk off a short pier.

I regret ever trusting my life to these garbage password managers. They are painfully slow to load if they even bother to load at all. When I actually need customer service I get a useless wall of text and a bunch of lazy employees who do absolutely nothing. Honestly these companies should all be put in jail. That is my take. Get yourself a uni-ball 207 and six to nine "dotted* mini rite in the rain or other stone paper notebooks. You might find sets of 3 online but who knows. Get a Tintris Journal Cover to keep them in and a decent planner. Use complex non specific passwords that never match. Keep 2 or 3 identical copies completely outside your immediate area in a safety deposit box or somewhere actually secure. Do this for a master list and a travel list. Keep the last 2 or 3 notebooks blank for future travel use. Scramble the last 3 or 4 characters of every single password in the books. Even if someone steals your notebook they still will not know the full password.

I am officially making the switch to paper. I am completely done with Cloaked and Ironvest and really all of them. These companies are either incredibly stupid or incredibly malicious. Either way they can go love themselves if you know what I mean. Do not even get me started on crypto because you are an idiot if you keep it on a hot wallet or an exchange. Get a cold metal wallet and stamp your seed phrase into steel before these digital platforms lose your life savings. For 2FA on paper write down the original seed key. You can create a master mathematical equation based on the future date and time to manually calculate your temporary codes on the spot.

- No one can monetize this data because it's not digitally stored unless I say it can be.

- You never need to worry about the "cloud" losing your passwords or someone hacking into all of them in one place.

- You have the convenience of a travel "vault" just like 1Password.

- You don't have to worry about page "load" or not being able to go back and forth quickly between edits.

- No more "subscriptions"

- Save your eyes from looking at a damn screen.

!

To me this is looking like a better solution than Google chrome password manager, dashlane, aura or even bitwarden everyday.

Just wish I did it sooner!

.

.

.

So basically: (since my formatting sucks above)

Notebooks:

1/1/1 Master list (all identical copies)

1/1/1 Travel list (all identical copies) (keep passwords in here you don't mind anyone stealing)

Encrypt the passwords in both travel and master lists changing letters around where you see fit.

1/1/1 blank for whatever in the future.

Other shit:

A uni-ball 207 pen won't bleed and the ink lasts!

Dotted rite in the rain or other dot grid stone paper is virtually indestructible.

A planner to keep thoughts in for all the extra fluff.

....

Get yourself a good Nokbox too while you're at it! (Look it up)

Thought: Firefox Focus (not Firefox) should be on every device.

With Firefox Focus and extra security turned on with ping turned off **and** set as the default browser you immediately stop webview apps bleeding into other apps

Got mine today. A real man only needs these five things in life..

A real man. An actual man. Not a boy, but a man only requires these five five things in this world besides a good woman a roof over their head and nourishment

A. Trusty steed

A leather jacket

A reliable firearm

A Swiss army knife

And a destination.

Kinda OT:Ukrain devs who died left behind a great app.. NatureMood

At the moment only moonphase and biorhythm on the app is functional. Is there any chance of getting the app to work again?

This diamond in the rough had so many great hidden features

Is it time for the MicroInternet ?

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately and while things like onion addresses and silk roads and darknet addresses exist as well as decentralized connection layers...

I'm wondering if it's time for a micro internet built from the ground up at the hardware level.

The microeconomy has done wonders for people that are displaced and need work and also need to provide for their families. And while I don't condone illegal immigration because I know that plays a role in it, I'm wondering if a global micro Internet could be the solution to Future problems that will pop up with more enshitification, deprecation of services/hardware and basically lies from large corporations telling us that there are supply chain issues when no supply chain issues actually exist.

I want to make it clear this post has not been written with AI.

I'm not trying to start any arguments with anyone.

And if you've read this far, I appreciate you.

Any way to use my Murena 2 in the states?

I got a Murena 2 a while back and it's running eOS (latest) but I was never able to get any signal stateside. I tried engineering modes and different hacks and tricks inside the existing firmware to try and get it to get any kind of signal. I also tried contacting Murena (eOS) and posting on their community bbs. All efforts fell flat. Is there something else I can try? Different US firmware perhaps?

Just double checking. Still no modern Android device with FM Transmitter? (NOTE Not just FM radio actual FM Transmitter)

Been wondering about this and searching over the last few months. Is there no modern Android device with built-in FM tx like on old XPeria devices and the arrow etc? I think even the n900 had this as well although technically not Android

Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
