I pick earthworms off the sidewalk when it rains

Ever since I was a kid, I hated to see the worms come out in the rain and doom themselves by getting stranded on the sidewalk. Even as a grown woman, I will stop and gently move them back into the grass with a leaf, twig, or even my bare hands. I am sure the birds sometimes find them, but at least they are nourishing another creature that way instead of wasting away on the pavement!

Do you have any "childish" hobbies?

I am a woman in my 30s and I have a lot of hobbies my peers consider childish. It's really isolating, because I would happily check out what interests them and why to see what it's like, and yet I cannot share what I am into without being mocked. I have very few friends because of this.

So, do you have any hobbies, past or present, that were considered childish for the time? Did you have to deal with unfair criticism and if so, how did you do it?

Entitled 17 year old

Follow up to an earlier post here I am not sure how to share.

So I am outside letting my dogs out and the neighbour's kid pulls into their garage, driving a car that is probably worth more than ours, so it either belongs to his parents or he is a spoiled brat. I am inclined to believe the latter due to the exchange that ensued when he saw me, again minding my own business in my own, fenced yard.

"Hey thanks for calling the cops on a bunch of 17 year old kids just trying to play live music! It was really nice of you!"

"And I'll do it again!"

"Yeah thanks so much for that!!"

"It's still against the bylaw!"

I ended up calling the non-emergency line to say that the family may escalate since mom and dad are so supportive, especially since they knew it was us calling after a very unproductive conversation with them about keeping it down. The police offered to send a car back out but I said nah, if you can put it on the report in case they do escalate further I will call back.

Once again the entitlement astounds me. Again, my immediate neighbour is pregnant with a young child and I am sure she doesn't want to hear Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive blasted into her house for 4 hours straight either.

And trying to pull the "I'm just a kid" card at 17? Yeah, you may be a minor, but there are still rules to follow. You aren't an innocent little kid who doesn't know better. You proved to me you were being loud on purpose by saying that, told me your age, and I could see you driving. Your parents may coddle and support you, but others aren't going to see you as a kid much longer.

Local garage band can be as loud as they want

So there's this new garage band across the alley from me and they are so loud, you cannot even drown them out with TV with the windows shut. They insist on plugging in their amps and mics and playing in the evening for 3-4 hours a night with the garage door wide open, so our yard get absolutely blasted. There's a singer, two guitarists and a drummer so you hear the same 5 chords, smashing and the kid scream singing into the mic for that amount of time. I am guessing they are at least 16, if not older.

I live with my parents and they ask them to turn it the hell down or at least close the garage door. My 61 year old mother gets snot from some younger lady who might have been mom, about how it is "only 8 PM" and that we should "wait until summer".

Since they refuse to do anything, I vent online in a local space. Oh my god, so much THINK OF THE CHILDREN. Some of the responses I got

"Should they be in their rooms on their phones instead?"

"They could be the next Green Day/Billy Talent/etc. boomer"

"Go back to bed, grandpa"

"Ok Karen"

So rude. I am sure if we let my dog outside to bark 24/7 like some of the neighbours do, they would complain about THAT.

Not to mention the neighbour beside us is heavily pregnant and has a young kid. So you can THINK OF THE CHILDREN but not all the children are equal. Ok.

I got banned from the local space too after a neighbour got all upset and attacked me, to which I responded I would love to meet face to face to discuss this, knowing how cowardly people anonymously online are. Which was no loss since it was a cesspool, but it's ridiculous how people think their kids disrupting the entire damn neighbourhood is okay.

There's two people in my house with chronic illness and because of their medications, they usually need to sleep for long hours and usually go to bed at 9 PM. These kids played until about 10 PM.

But nah, they MIGHT be famous someday (press x to doubt) so we should be grateful to hear it.
