Hi Reddit!

I am currently working on bringing my interpretention of a UG Polerouter Sub (see pics 2-3) to life.

Going for a GMT (pole router, after all) with bigger indices than the original in a 38-40mm vintage sub style case.

One of the few things left to figure out is the colors - I have different lume pigments with different glow (yellow/green and blue) colors.

from left to right we have:

1. Both pigments glow green

2. Green “U” blue “bar”

3. Hybrid (note indices 1-2-3)

4. Blue “U” green “Bar”

5. Both pigments blue

Im biased towards #3, I think it’s a nice Easter egg to have the color switch.

where is like community insights:

1. which lume config? will Lume the hands accordingly

2. What color bezel insert?

3. What color GMT hand?

Hi everyone!

I am new to the field and have a question on sheet metal dapping.

I'm making a sloped bezel insert for a watch out of 1mm 5052-H32 aluminum sheet. The final dimensions I need are:

• Inner diameter: 30.7mm
• Outer diameter: 38.0mm
• Height: 1.55mm (vertical rise from inner to outer edge when laid flat)

The plan is to cut a flat annular disk and dap it into a truncated cone shape.

I did some testing with two sets of metal inserts (~0.5mm thick, not sure of the metals) to get diverging results.

• Material 1: both ID and OD increased -- the ring expanded outward in every direction
• Materials 2: ID increase while OD decreased -- the ring opened up on the inside while the outer edge drew inward

My questions are:

• How should I expect 5052 aluminum to behave?
• Is there a formula I could use to calculate the ID/OD of the flat disc?
