Been listening to every U2 album this week (two a day) to celebrate the 50th and today was War and The Unforgettable Fire (with Under the Blood Red Sky in between). I gotta say the sound switch and transformation, while not as direct as The Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby is almost equally as massive a shift in tone. And both featured a live release excursion in between. But listened to back to back, War and TUF is a major change that was further pushed by TJT.
LA show going to be lit! Cannot wait.
Also, caught this in the show description:
"As we head into 2026 James is back in the studio writing a new album, continuing touring and excited about what the next chapter for UNKLE will bring."
I would love a 10 year deluxe edition that brings (Japan only bonus track) Twenty Three Blue (the best song on the album) back in and adds some other tracks from the era.
After revisiting Pop and realizing that half of the songs on that album is as good as their very best and the other half feels unfinished or just added in, I started thinking about those deeper cuts that really make the album and aren't as well known or were not singles or rarely played live (Not all fall into these categories). Here's my favorites per album.
Boy - Out of Control
October - I Fall Down
War - Drowning Man
TUF - Indian Summer Sky
TJT - Exit
R&H - Heartland
AB - Acrobat
ZR - Dirty Day
Pop - Do You Feel Loved
AYCLB - Kite
HTDAAB - Mercy (sorry)
NLOTH - Breathe
SOI - Raised by Wolves
SOE - 13/There Is A Light
This would make a great comp.
I made an alternate cover if you prefer.
What do we need to do to get them to stop working with Jacknife Lee? He's been a terrible producer for them for decades now.
And check out those 3 sold seats right in the front row. Did I mention this is a 3am show!?!?
