5 canceled flights in a row. Is something going on?

I’ve been trying to get to DC from Buffalo on American Airlines since Thursday. My original flight was Thursday. That flight was delayed 30 mins (bc of air traffic issues getting a plane) and then suddenly canceled almost 10 mins after the new boarding time with a plane at the gate that was immediately assigned to a different route and no announcement/explanation.

The next day, my flight was canceled due to weather. There were a lot of cancellations on the east coast that day due to weather so I understood this one (although annoyed they made us sit around for hours without any updates when they probably knew way in advance no flight was taking off).

My next flight was scheduled for Sunday since there were no available flights on Saturday (although I looked and at least one flight on this route was canceled that day as well). They canceled this one hours in advance for weather related issues when there was no sign of weather in either region and other flights were taking off and landing in both airports with no issue.

Today (Monday), the same thing happened again and I got a notification that my flight was canceled hours in advance for weather related issues (again with no evidence for this). I rebooked for tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and just got a notification that this flight is also canceled.

My question is what is going on?? Why does this keep happening? And American Airlines is saying they can’t get me on a different airline’s flight and is saying I need to drive to an airport hours away and have a layover to get to DC.

I’m not sure if something is happening in the DC area that is causing all this mess so any insights would be helpful. I honestly don’t even want to fly anymore. Also, what is the standard compensation for something like this? This has caused me to miss work along with throwing off a lot of other things in my life. I’m just frustrated and confused.
