Samsung fridge handle came off – service center says replace entire door (₹5k). Any workaround/fix?
My Samsung double-door refrigerator’s lower door handle suddenly came off after ~2 years 10 months.
The issue seems to be a broken molded plastic locking hook inside the door (see pics). The handle itself looks mostly fine, but one of the white hooks/mounts on the fridge door broke under normal usage.
Samsung service inspected it and said the only solution is replacing the entire lower door, costing around ₹5,000 INR (USD 110), because this plastic part isn’t serviceable.
This feels absurd for a handle issue in a fridge less than 3 years old.
Before I spend on a full door replacement, I wanted to ask:
- Has anyone fixed something like this?
- Any DIY workaround (epoxy, metal reinforcement, bracket, screw fix, etc.)?
- Is this realistically repairable by a local appliance technician?
- Anyone seen a 3D printed replacement clip for these molded hooks?
Attaching photos of the handle + broken mounting hooks.
Would really appreciate practical suggestions.
