SDCC seems kinda light this year?

Walked along the Embarcadero and it seemed a lot less crowded this year. Last year, there was Abott Elementary carnival, King of the Hill, Brawl Stars, Voodoo Ranger and so much more. It was just odd cause I’m used to there being lines on lines. Sure, it’s still just as crowded in the convention center, but outside was a little lackluster.

Have you ever had to lower your contribution to TSP?

Right now I am contributing the max amount and have been for the past 5 years working as a fed, but I have a baby on the way and that will bring on a bunch of added cost especially since we will have to pay for childcare. Just wondering if anyone has had to lower their contribution- for what reason and for how long?

Struggling when inserting CGM

Lately, I have been struggling with placing a new CGM sensor on the back of my arm.

To help dull the pain, I usually use a pack of ice for about 15 minutes, but once I position the sensor on my arm I find it hard to deploy it. I think I may be psyching myself out, but the last sensor put in I felt like it hurt even with ice.

Does any one have any advice to make this a little easier?

Also, I’m not sure if I want my husband helping me put the Cgm in.

Confused about PPL and other leave I can take

Hello! I’m currently expecting with expected due date of October and I have a lot of questions regarding the leave I can take.

I know that PPL is a type of FMLA and is 12 weeks and I’ve heard people say I can utilize SL before the PPL.

I heard depending on the type of birth you can use 4 weeks for vaginal birth and 6 weeks for c-section.

How do I go about using my SL. Is there another form I have to fill out and send to HR? Or is that something I need to inform my manager of? What documentation is needed for that? I think I’m most confused about this process.

Can I also use my AL leave?

What if I don’t have enough SL to cover those 4 weeks?

I was also told I can use LWOP, but that is subject to approval.

How much time were you able to take off in your experience?

How often do you treat yourself to a new piece of jewelry?

I’m currently building up my personal collection. I said a good limit for me is 1-2x a year for a purchase, but sometimes I’m tempted to make impulsive purchases and I have to tell myself no. Lol

How to make post partum doula comfortable?

Just wondering what’re some things I can do to make a post partum doula comfortable for overnight stays in the home?

Our home set up is small and we may need to have her set up in the living room.

Our second bedroom which is the office/nursery is right next to our bedroom and the doula mentioned that she would want it so the baby is a little away from the bedroom so we are able to get quiet restfull sleep.

How should we set up the living room so she’s comfortable and has everything she will need?

At what point did you have to get maternity clothes and what did you buy?

I’m about 5 months and I’m reach a point where a lot of my clothes are not fitting me anymore. I kind of don’t want to spend too much on clothes I will only be able to wear for a few months. What clothes did you end up buying? So far I’ve only bought long sleeves and maternity scrub pants bc I work at a hospital.

Feeling guilty about my sugar consumption

Sorry, please delete if not allowed. Currently, 22 weeks and I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and for the most part it’s pretty well controlled by diet. My doctor also has me on a nightly insulin dose as well to maintain.

However, I’m at a girls weekend trip and feeling like I’m indulging a little too much. I had a rice bowl and a mocktail and spiked my blood sugar to 194.
I felt so bad bc I feel like I’m hurting myself and my baby. But at the same time I want to partake and enjoy things like an iced coffee or an ice cream. I just feel very conflicted. Is there anyone else that has felt like this?
