New to decora!

I've always dressed "deco-lite" with a couple hairclips and generally cutesy outfits but this year I decided I wanted to start going all out so here's two outfits I'm really proud of !

Has anyone actually reversed the effects of hard water? How long?

I made a post previously asking for advice on what to do, as my hair has gotten very flat, frizzy, and I've lost nearly all my curls. I've used chelating and clarifying shampoos over the last several months and my hair has not improved. Thought I was only using them about once a month. But even under "good" water my hair stopped springing back to normal.

I don't think it's hormones as nothing in my life has changed - not to create such a drastic shift in my hair. When i moved to where I live now 3 years ago, hard water was the instant culprit in my hair feeling dirty and weighed down. But it would feel/look so much better the second I washed with city water. Now even city water isn't helping me. Even if my texture had changed from curly to wavy - it doesn't retain ANY product. Even strong hold products. I have low-porosity hair and always have. This is still the case, but my hair used to absorb product just fine.

I'm going to take the advice people have given me but I need an extra lift of hope.

Routine: I'm currently using the Malibu C hardwater wellness and I'm going to incorporate their curl packets as well.
As well as a conditioning mask once a week and washing entirely with distilled water for a few weeks.

What I'd really like to know if has anyone actually reversed hard water damage? It feels like my current hair just isn't going to go back to normal no matter what I do, and anything I've found about this topic is just people giving product advice but not actually talking about their own experience. So my questions are:

  1. Did anyone need new hair to grow in healthy to go back to their old texture

  2. If you hair did recover, how long did it personally take?

The hopelessness of having used all the products everyone advised like chelating shampoos and such not working has me feeling like I'm just out of luck forever. I saw a singular google result talking about how it can take several weeks of consistent washing to see a difference, but everyone on reddit talks about it like one wash with the Malibu stuff is more than enough and that wasn't the case for me. I just want to hear other people's experiences.

Hair has been so limp, frizzy and isn't retaining product

Please help if possible ive tried everything and im at the end of my rope

As of December of last year my hair started becoming very difficult. I noticed at that time finger curling suddenly stopped working and my hair wouldn't hold the finger curl at all.

Since then my curls have flattened out a lot. Even diffusing just makes it dry and lifeless. Any product i put in feels like it evaporates once my hair is dry. I never get a gel cast.

I've tried curlsmith bond treatments. Leave in conditioners from several CG recommended brands. Mousse. Gel. Shampooing only. Double shampooing. Malibu C for hard water (which my home has), chelating, clarifying, deep conditioning with a heat cap, switching back to cheap products, you name it I've tried it i promise.

I recently incorporated an apple cider vinegar rinse and it has helped a little. But I just can't figure out the root of my problem.

I've tried solutions for hydration overload, protein overload, dryness, etc.

I will say that ive been very stressed this year. But I haven't gone through anything significant to change my hormones. Ive been on the same BC since 2020 and ive never been pregnant. My routine did not change leading up to my issues. My environment has been the same for 3 years.

My diet isn't the best but it's never been.

It would be one thing if my hair was just changing as I got older but even if it was turning into waves its still so dry and frizzy. (Im 32)

Routine: wash twice a week. Wash once a week with shampoo + conditioner (infusium). Condition once a week with infusium.

On wash days where I dont go out I just use infusiums leave in conditioner. On styling days: LUS Curl cream, LUS gel, and Hask curl leave in conditioner on my ends and air dry or diffuse depending how much time I have.

I don't deep condition as much as I should but that was never a problem before.

I sleep with a satin bonnet and dont really pineapple because my hair is too short for it and it's always just stretched my hair out.

Please im losing my mind. My hair is such a big part of my identity and having it look so bad every day now is making me never wanna go outside again 😭
