Fitness Influencers

Sam Wood has just launched a new business that will be fitness with GLP telehealth support and I’m a bit torn.
He apparently has come around on the science of obesity and wants to support people.
I can’t help wondering if it’s just another cash grab and deep down, he and other fitness influencers that are and will make a similar move, still believe in dated science and diet culture.

What do you all think about influences moving into this space when they previously were some of obese and overweight people’s harshest critics?

How to take 1.25 dose of 2.5mg

I’m at the end of my first month and had my first follow up call with my NP.
They asked if I wanted to go up to 5mg pen but I declined and now I kind of wish I had.
My appetite doesn’t seem to be weakened anymore and I have a bit of food noise.
I lost 4.5kg, then 1.7kg but the end of the third week I only lost 500g and if appetite was less, I’d feel better sticking with .25, but now I’m feeling less confident about that.
After weighing on Monday, I’d like to try something in between with the six doses I have until my next appointment.

I bought insulin syringes for the golden dose, and thought I could take that then a few clicks to make up 1.25 dose so 3.125mg.
How many clicks for the .25 for the 1st shot, then how many for the next 1.25 dose the following week?

Then I will get a 5mg scrip (or 10 and click) for possibly something less than 5, but will see how I go.

Are the syringes in the photo the correct ones?
Do I draw to 60 for a full dose of the remaining golden shot?

Then at the end of the next new one, how much needs to be drawn via syringe and how much can be clicked up and taken via the pen?

Sorry if that all sounds confusing!

ETA: just realised it might be easier to start the new pen with one dose, then an extra .25, and keep going for dose 2 and 3 in that way. Then mix the two remaining goldens which will be 1.0, and .25?

My Weighloss Clinic & other meds

I have my first review in a fortnight and am wondering if MWLC can prescribe complimentary medications.
I have experienced significant hair loss due to PMOS before starting tirzepatide and would like to avoid further loss and possibly improve with oral minoxidil.

Or do I need to see another provider?

Period back!

I didn’t think this would be one of my first celebrations!

I have PMOS and adenomyosis and my periods have been about 40+ day regular cycles for quite a while but have been MIA the last two months.
I’m week 2 and my period started! I have a feeling I ovulated on day two in week one aswell.

And another amazing update is that due to adenomyosis, the day before and the first two days of my cycle are usually pretty painful requiring back to back ibuprofen (I know this is actually mild for adeno), but this time, I’m totally pain free!

I hope my cycle stays like this. Thank you MJ!

Help get my sister to Cali!

Hi everyone,

With permission from the mod team I would love to ask for your support to help get my amazing sister, Christina Grant, of Bells Beach Australia, to the CrossFit games next month.

This year, after many years of training, her dream became a reality, as she officially qualified for her very first CrossFit Games!

Next July, she will be heading to California, representing Australia against the world’s fittest 40-44year olds!

I could not be prouder!
💗 ❤️ 💗 ❤️

Who even am I!?

I’ve gotten up, taken a load of washing off the line, hung another out, put another load on, loaded the dishwasher, made porridge for my child, had a banana and milk for myself (had a little vom 🫠), and just sat down to print some things off for work and it’s an Sunday and I’d only been up for less than an hour.

From a previously unmedicated ADHD shambles a week ago, who even AM I????!!!!!!!!
Hallelujah! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

My story - starting first dose

Is anyone else starting this month?
After a little hiccup yesterday (see my previous post), I finally have my first script and plan to start on Monday. Thanks for all the support so far 😊

CW: discussion of disordered eating behaviours

I had my intake call with MWLC this morning and it was an incredibly positive, validating experience.
One thing that really clicked recently for me was how many signs of metabolic dysfunction I've experienced throughout my life.

Looking back, I realised that by my late 20s, the only way I could maintain a BMI <25 was through severe calorie restriction, limiting carbohydrates, skipping meals, and intense cardio 5 days a week. It wasn't sustainable and definitely wasn't healthy.
When I think about my long term health history, the signs seem so obvious now.

• Weight gain beginning around puberty
• Gallstones at 14 and gallbladder removal at 15
• Years of weight cycling between a size 8-12 including restrictive eating and excessive exercise
• Infertility in my mid 30s requiring IVF
• Diagnosis of adenomyosis and polycystic ovaries during IVF
• Gestational diabetes during pregnancy
• More recent PCOS/PMOS symptoms including longer cycles, hair thinning and hirsutism

After having my child, I consciously stopped dieting because I wanted to model healthy balanced eating and food relationships. Despite eating normally and exercising moderately, my weight gradually increased and eventually stabilised at a size 20, my previous largest size had been a 16 in my teens.

I'm now 43 and only recently connected all these pieces together. It was quite emotional discussing it on the call today.

So here I am, starting a new chapter focused on improving my metabolic and long term health.

I've never shared this full story before and feel a bit vulnerable posting it. I'd love to hear from others with similar experiences and connect with people starting this journey too.

MWLC

I finally built up the courage to make my first appointment for today with My Weightloss Clinic.

The appointment time came and went an hour and a half ago.
Are they usually so late and I just need to wait or will I need to make another appointment again?

I did get the email confirmation for the appointment.

Edited to add:

I think it must have been a busy day for them. They actually tried to call an hour and 20 minutes after the appointment time. Around about when I made this post. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m not even sure how the calls got missed as my phone was literally in my hands the entire time! I made a new appointment for the morning. Wish me luck! I’m nervous.
