Noob looking for people to play with

500+ hours of ASE a long time ago and just bought ASA (downloading atm). Looking for a group who can give me a bit of a refresher and while I re learn the ropes. Also potentially would like to try this new tides of fortune thing. I’m off uni for the summer so if I’m able to get into this I will be plenty active.

Thinking about getting the game

I was a big fan of ark survival evolved when it first came out. But I felt like it got ruined by excessive release of paid dlcs, server transfers and limited wipes. It got to the point where your choices were to play on an empty server or forced to join a super tribe.

Now I have far too much time on my hands over summer and want to waste it on an mmo survival game like this.

I saw the sale and so considering it but conscious of reviews and want people’s two cents.

Does it have the same issues as ark?
Am I going to get ganked the moment I try to build a base?
How toxic is the community nowadays?
Is there servers without transfers?
Are there servers that are active but recently wiped?
Am I going to hate myself and the entire world after an hour of playing?

I’m going to kill Greg and Spike

How did I not clock where I knew Ashley and Laura’s voices from!!!

Honestly one of my favourite games and now one of my favourite TV shows and somehow it wasn’t until I finished binged all of Vox Machina and began watching the original critical role web series that I realised. And even then it was only because Mathew explained that Ashley was missing from the first game because she was receiving a BAFTA. Honestly crazy but now I know I can’t unhear it. Apparently Ashley didn’t have anything to do with the casting of Abby or may have actually backed somewhere else (which is kinda awkward) but just makes all even crazier. Two of the greatest voice actors of all time.
