I know I’m getting way ahead of myself and it’s a bit premature, but I’m already thinking about the day!
Has anyone worked at both CIBC and TD and can explain how the levels compare in practice?
At CIBC, L7 is Consultant/Manager, L8 is Senior Consultant/Senior Manager, L9 is Director, and L10 is Senior Director/AVP.
For example, would a Senior Manager at CIBC be expected to operate at roughly the same level as a Senior Manager at TD in terms of responsibilities, decision-making authority, people leadership and compensation?
At CIBC, even L8/L9 roles can have less influence than the titles might suggest depending on the function, so I’m curious whether TD is similar or if the levels translate differently. I’m in Risk so I am only taking that perspective into account.
I swear my IQ drops every time I hear people go on about the “cookbook” and “brain library” features as if they’re cutting edge.
The features we have now were already available in 2023 and they were only incorporated into our internal AI recently. By 2024, enterprise AI environments were already moving toward searching across intranets and connected content instead of making you manually rebuild context or re-upload documents all the time. Our internal AI still can’t do that.
It’s 2026, enterprise AI environments can already:
- Search connected company content you’re authorized to access without making you manually upload those documents
- Find relevant documents like policies, procedures or reports across the intranet and compare them for differences or inconsistencies
- Analyze connected data for trends, outliers and exceptions, and in tools like Power BI, create and edit report pages and visuals from an existing data model
- Create close to properly formatted, company branded Word docs and PowerPoints
I really do wonder how much of this is cultural. When so many employees have been here for 15, 20, even 30+ years, the benchmark for what’s “advanced” is most likely whatever CIBC is doing. So are we slow because so many people have adapted to this pace over decades, or is the culture intentionally built around moving only when the longest-tenured people are comfortable with the change?
Maybe I’m missing something.. but for someone who says he’s putting “America First” and cutting costs for Americans, renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America” feels kind of backwards.
Canada and the rest of the world can keep calling it Lake Ontario. Meanwhile, he’s forcing extra costs for American companies that use geographic names in their products or operations, like map apps, textbooks, tourism companies, cross-border businesses, etc. And for what? It doesn’t give the U.S. more of the lake or give them any more control over it. It just feels like a lot of admin work and costs.
Dropping my little “how does this make sense?” rant here because Toronto has already seen how much work can come with even a local subway name change. When Dundas Stn became TMU Stn, signs, maps, announcements, websites, other materials had to be updated $$.. and that was just one subway station.
My MIL is in her 60s and looking to downsize from a large two-car-garage home in Woodbridge. Her husband has passed and her kids have moved out, so she wants something smaller and lower maintenance.. but for her, “downsizing” means a townhome rather than a condo.
She likes the idea of a new build, however, she’s worried newer communities will be mostly young families and a bit noisier than she’d like.
We know she may be asking for a bit of a unicorn here 😅 My husband and I have been trying to help her narrow things down, so I’d love some firsthand recommendations/experiences.
Any newer communities or areas that tend to have more empty nesters/older adults and are relatively quiet? She isn’t looking for a 55+ community, just a good mix of ages.
Does anyone else follow AleczaMarie? She honestly seems really nice and pretty normal, especially compared to a lot of other GTA influencers.
The one thing that stands out to me is how publicly into boybands and fandom culture she is. I’m a 90s girl too and totally get loving boybands, so this isn’t me judging the interest itself. I just sometimes wonder whether having that level of fangirl content tied so closely to your real identity can be risky professionally. She clearly has a real career outside of social media, which is what makes me think about it more. Coworkers, managers, or future employers can easily find this stuff, and even harmless content can shape how people perceive you.
Basically, I’m curious where people think the line is between harmless fandom and an online persona that might affect how you’re perceived professionally. Has anyone thought about this with AleczaMarie or other people who have very normal careers/lives offline but come across much younger or more fangirl-coded online?
My partner and I are in our early 30s with demanding jobs and love Princess/Celebrity for the mix of exploring, good food, entertainment and downtime. We also like being able to blend in and do our own thing on a bigger ship. We’ve tried Virgin and enjoyed parts of it, but preferred the more traditional cruise experience. Our retired family members constantly rave about the food and service on luxury lines, so we’re curious to try one.
For those who’ve done both mega and luxury cruises, what does the 600-1,200 passenger experience actually feel like compared with 3,000+? Totally aware that there’s a huge difference but how much more socially intimate is it, how easy is it to keep to yourself and how noticeable is the drop in entertainment/activities?
I was on Rogers Road during rush hour today and saw paramedics responding to a kid on a bike who got clipped by a car pulling into a laneway.
I’ve seen more than a handful of incidents like this at laneway entrances over the past couple of years. As someone who both drives and bikes in the city, I get it from both sides.. even at low speeds, by the time a driver and cyclist actually have a clear line of sight on each other, there’s just not enough time or space left to stop.
Other cities have tackled this kind of thing with better markings, raised crossings or improved sightlines at laneway entrances.
Does anyone know if the city or TO councillors have looked into this, or even recognize it as a road-safety issue? I’d hate for another accident like this to happen, especially if it involves a child or senior.
