After the elections, whenever any news, especially sexual harassment, the people are blaming the political parties. Okay i agree to a certain extent yes they should do better. Ana i am seeing a lot of blame shifting. Whats the use in pointing at TVK or DMK. Ipde blame pante irundha namma yeppo better avom? Whatever happens we blame and move on. I dont think anyone actually is sorry for the victim. They just wanna defend their political party. Its so insensitive that the seriousness of any issue has come down to this?

I remember I was in my 11th std when Nirbhaya happened. It shook the whole country. I was scared to even look at the news after that incident. As someone who is avoidant, I started getting comfortable avoiding anything related to SA. It’s not like nothing bad was happening, but I chose to avoid it by not looking at the news, not sharing it, not seeming to worry. Thinking rapes don’t happen anymore. That’s what made me feel okay.

Now after 14 years, India is still the same.

And I am not gonna say “yes all men.” But are men not ashamed???

Do you guys stop your friends when they make jokes about women? Do you ask your female friends if they feel safe? Do you actually make an effort towards betterment? Ask yourself.

There is no point blaming people after something bad happens. Do not comment saying TN is far better. Of course it is better but that doesn’t change the fact women are still scared.

And now some of you may ask, “Don’t women file false rape charges?” The issue here is that men speak about their issues only when something bad happens to women.

All I am asking is: Be better. Make women feel safe.
